The snake ataff is more than just "they're wasting their action and bonus action each turn".. they basically get a wall of infinite hitpoints, because on low level encounters, nothing will outright kill the snake, but it does constantly respawn with full hp. Nobody needs to take damage because the snake is basically a sponge with no limit on how many times you can resummon it. Horrible low level item to give.

Only awesome thing related to those items is gold, that those are worth.

Many true thing ... yet in a way the villains are the thing that turned me off Fabula Ultima. To be exact the resistances/immunities/weaknesses of whole groups - just like it was in 4e, poison and dark as damage types feel pointless when so undead and other monster groups are resistent/immune, while many monsters are weak against light and hardly any resistant against it. There's no real choice if there are obvious wrong choices from the start.

100-page-ish books?!? Is Pathfinder, those are just adventures but in D&D those are called core rulebooks!

I may actually use this to outright replace backgrounds, with some different flavorings.

I do love the way Cypher System handles player agency in the world. The only reason I don't use it now is because I don't like NPC vs. NPC interaction. Otherwise, it's an amazing system.

I've only played a couple Numenera sessions, but I'd really like to play some Claim the Skies (the Superhero setting)... I'm just having no luck getting my friends to do it :D

Sound unnecessary complicated. Simply having static values to your own rolls give the player more control of the situation and ability to evaluate the threat. Edit. Completely lost me with the "the DM does not roll". Random responses from both players and dm are intrinsic to the spirit of rpg. That is not Tabletop.

Do any of you carry a ridiculous amount of dice and cycle through sets till you find the one that is working for you that night? I have 3 sets the seem to perform well most of the time and 2 extra sets in case one of the 3 is rolling garbage 😂😂😂

Whenever I make an Oath Of The Ancients Paladin, I make him a vegetarian, despite not being a vegetarian myself. But not one who's annoying about it. He he'll be okay with people eating meat around him, he just won't eat any himself.

Man you just don't get it. 5E Spelljammer misses out everything we love about Spelljammer. The new book is so bad that we are all using Homebrew instead. Ships in Space is so cool and WOTC ruined it.

A sleeping creature or humanoid is considered incapacitated, so you can use Create Thrall on a sleeping target without having to attack them.

I know this is years late, but I'm just running this. I did sow some seeds of doubt about the nature of were-creatures from the outset by allowing the PCs to read part of the book *before* it transformed, so they have Mazfroth's factoid that not all these creatures are evil (and dropped in the difference between therianthropes (were-xyz) and antherions (xyz-were) for my lore-goblin). All this is post BG3 so they've also been having fun exploring the city (the Baldur's Gate Gazeteer and Descent into Avernus have both been helpful), staying in the Elfsong Tavern, and taking in a show at at the Oasis Theatre (Little Calimshan helped establish that theres multiple cultures here). Having located the hideout now they really aren't sure what to make of the booksellers: are they just an ethnic group or not-entirely-human... ?

With the Goblin Hoard front, i like the idea of the Party uniting the goblins, freeing the Orcs, forging an alliance with the town, and then the fight is with a faction of the goblins that want to take over and hired the gnoles

Love these concepts - will utilize in some manner. My addition would be Prayer Beads that a low level npc has that has been defeated, with some or all already used - limited but could help the party in minor ways.

I'm not a DM, but am enjoying writing a Level 1 (they're now level 2) solo campaign, so this is helpful. I did recently use a non-magical item that totally threw off the DM yesterday. Some of the group members received gifts in the shape of toys, and I kept mine a secret for a few sessions. The DM was so excited when I pulled it out! It was an action figure.

A wizards list consists of 10-9 scrolls, and 1 is an item that can hold charged spells, if im getting greedy a 3 charge item.

I usually give players a bag of holding really early, so we don't have to worry about encumbrance

Give them eyes of minute seeing. Then a few sessions later. Present them with something that sounds interesting. When they stick their face up to it to use the eyes of minute seeing to investigate. A trap triggers that temporarily blinds them. The irony.
