I’ll wait until you come back on here with proof of your statement. So basically you’re saying it’s old so it’s unsafe? Just because it’s an old method doesn’t mean it’s unsafe when done correctly. The canning police want you to purchase a bunch of equipment that you really don’t need and folks have canned like this for generations. I CLEARLY state in the video to can with the water bath if you want.

I'm probably going to switch to exchange...one of my refills a while back I think got water in my tanks. Was SUCH a pain to diagnose the issue too. First I thought it was an issue with my grill. Then I realized the regulator had gone bad. Then after another year and another regulator going bad in the same way did I finally put two and two together lol. All it takes is someone at the refill not knowing what they're doing and not flushing their lines before filling you up, and you can end up with having to spend one or two hundred dollars on new tanks. Definitely more than the 30-40% cost saving you get from doing refills yourself.

Hi. They last in the pantry 12-18 months. I just finished off a jar from last year. This is the open kettle method that was the recommended method before water bath became recommended sometime in the 1980’s. The key is to get the hot jam into the hot jars quickly and they seal for me every time. Just like I was taught by my grandparents and it’s in most old canning books.

Looks like a manufacturing defent with smooth bubbles like that. If glass breaks, it breaks completely. One time I had a row of chips on the mouth. My best guess was that the part was wet when a lid was put on and it was put in the freezer. So there was ice between the glass and the lid. I found chips after I had consumed the contents.

Clothes and equipment should never be in any kind of camo pattern or colors that blend in. You always want to stand out and be spotted easily by other hikers or if something happens to you by a rescue helicopter. This is why you always buy stuff with screaming colors that pop out like sore thumb among the rocks and vegetation like red/orange. Another cheap and amazing thing can potentially save your life if you get lost is a strong laser pointer as those things can be seen from miles away when it gets dark.
