I saw your other video and remarked at how expensive parts had gotten. Now with this homemade venturi I can make a burner for my gun bluing trough for about $60. Thank you!!!
Good info. I have pretty much the same burner in my big cooker. 2 burners. I have a problem where the flame goes out when I close the lid. I can’t adjust very much on the flame. Does this sound like not enough air? Probably need to make bigger Venturi? 6:05
Hi. Try placing your hand where the air is being pulled in. Sometimes too much air can cause it to go out. I will slightly block it until I figure out any reduction needed in the air going in.
Looking to build a custom griddle for my camper on drawer slides. Have you had 2 or 3 of these burners tied together? In parallel not one long burner. Griddle will be like 30 inches by 18...Just add additional nipples, tees and orifices? thanks
Hi. I’m thinking that you may be able to use one venturi and some tees and elbows to get two connected together. I’m going to if I can try this over the weekend and I’ll let you know.
Thanks for this video! I am currently building a Powder Coating Oven with a square base of 3ft x 4ft. I'll be running 1/2" black pipe in the shape of a "U" about 3" off the floor and 3" away from the interior walls, and drilling small holes facing inward. I will have a "T" in the center of the "U" feeding the pipes. I was planning on making a venturi on the outside of the oven (1/2" black piping leading to the inside of the oven). What size do you recommend for the airflow nipples? Also, what do you recommend for an orphis considering i'm using 1/2" piping? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
Hi. I’m thinking for the venturi tee that I would use a 1/2”x1” tee. That would have the 1” openings for the air flow with your 1/2”side connecting up to your 1/2 black pipe going to your burners. I would start with the same size orifice drilled out like in the video. Get a few of those incase you have to experiment to get the gas flow right.
Hi. I understand from talking with different folks that you really want at least an 8” throat for the air and gas to mix properly. I made this one 12” so that I could get it through the 8” block and have plenty of length for the venturi on the end. I have just an 8” throat on my long burners and I was flaming the edge of the block. This venturi did work great on that burner as well.
Hi. I mark across the pipe and then I just cut the mark out. You don’t want to go too deep or you’ll make it to the point the pipe may bend. I really just cut it until you get a good slot cut into pipe.
Yeah, I noticed that I was running it wide open anyway so I built this one with no washers. I just ran that one in the video for about 8 straight hours for syrup and it worked great. I’ve got my son’s bed strapped on top of the cover right now.
Hi. It will probably run just fine without them but any wind would create problems even a small breeze. I had a strong wing blow out one of these with the pipes on one of those breezy fall days.
Hi. I haven’t tried to calculate it out but I’ve used this size (and the exact one in the video) in my syrup making. Check out the sugar cane syrup video on our channel and you can see it in action. I run it low and then almost full blast. It’s a great pipe burner.
Shoot! Now I have to try this. Thanks for the video.

Absolutely! It absolutely works great! I ran it for about 6-8 straight hours when cooking my sugar cane syrup.
@@useful.knowledge Got it completed. Works like a champ! Thanks again.
Awesome!!
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Good job
Thanks!!

Hello,
Excellent video! Im needing something like this 5ft long for a cooker, do you think 5ft would work ok with this design and gas flow?
Thanks
Hi. Yes, I used that exact venturi shown in the video on my 6 ft pipe and it worked great.

I would like to know more re this

Also does an Air Mixer (like from Amazon) work the same way?

Those air mixers look like something my son has in his blacksmith blast furnace. It’s wide open gas flow
Is the throat length to burner length a ratio, or is that just how it wound up? (Meaning would a 36” burner need an 18” throat?)
Hi. I understand from talking with different folks that you really want at least an 8” throat for the air and gas to mix properly. Thanks! Just a quick question, what is the length of each cut in the pipe? Thanks again!!

Can I use it for a powder coat oven homemade but make it smaller with the same principle
Hi. Absolutely! You will have to play with the orfice size but it’s definitely doable.
How would you hook 2 or 3 of these up in series?
Hi. Are you wanting to basically end up with a long burner?
no fender washers to control air this time?
Yeah, I noticed that I was running it wide open anyway so I built this one with no washers. I just ran that one in the video for about 8 straight hours for syrup and it worked great. I’ve got my son’s bed strapped on top of the cover right now.
are you adjusting the air with the regulator?
Hi. The regulator is adjusting the flow if the gas. The pressure of the gas flow draws the air into the burner.
must the nipples be 4” long?
I don’t think they have to be that long necessarily. This issue is that if you have any wind, it can cause some flame out.
@@useful.knowledge thank you
This method is for urban gas?
Hi. It’s for propane not natural gas.
Does it need the two 4’ pipe on the T
Hi. It will probably run just fine without them but any wind would create problems even a small breeze. I had a strong wing blow out one of these with the pipes on one of those breezy fall days.
God bless for sharing
any idea how many BTU's?
