I found a little bit mean way to eliminate fire ants, if you have multiple hills. Stir one hill up, go to another hill and scoop it up with a shovel, then dump the scoop on the one you stirred up. The different “armys” will kill each other off. I essentially eliminated fire ants in my yard like this. I’m going to use DE in my strawberries for slugs and rolly-pollys. Thanks for the video!

About 30 years ago, I was working at a shingle plant in Tuscaloosa. I had a co-worker that would do this and said it worked. Thanks for sharing and reminding me of this!

Hi. I haven’t canned green tomatoes. Most folks fry green tomatoes like squash. Check out the channel because we do have a fried squash video and also how to freeze breaded squash for frying in the winter. I would do green tomatoes the same way.

Thanks! I grew up in Andalusia so I know about those fire ants and those Diamondback rattlesnakes in south Alabama. You can use diatomaceous earth for any insect. I use it in my garden for ants, aphids, flea beetles, caterpillars, etc. Thanks for your kind comments!

Hi, I'm a Bama girl myself, and let me tell ya - fleas are a born pain. DE works wonders, but you want to make sure you're using food and NOT pool grade DE around your pets. It works by actually cutting into the exoskeleton of the insect, and dehydrating it from the inside out. You can, push come to shove, put it directly on your dogs in the event of an infestation, but it is drying, so you won't want to use it as the only treatment. It works well in the home as well, just sprinkle onto your carpet (cloth furniture, pet beds. etc.), making sure to get it on and in the cracks in the baseboards and brush it in. Leave it on for about 2 days, and then vacuum. Make sure though, that you're protecting yourself though, because even the food grade DE can be harmful if breathed in during application. Again, I would suggest only using Food grade DE unless you're using it strictly on things like flower gardens. The only bad thing about DE is, that when it becomes wet, it's rendered useless. The pool grade will dry back out and start to function as normal, but I don't know about the food grade - even though, DON'T use the pool grade around your pets, or in the home.. Sorry about the epistle. 🤭

@useful.knowledge NOT to mention the water moccasins! 😳😫
Have a story abt water moccasins.
Many yrs ago, water skiing on Cotton Bayou @ Gulf Shores.
I wear contacts, but did not have in as I did not want to lose 1 or both.
I went for a long ski run, cut too sharp + fell...I found my ski...
Was putting it on + my bro in law (driving the boat) was pointing to me and yelling something to me. I looked around but Im so blind, I couldn't see anything except for this long black stick in the water a ways back... I couldn't hear bc of all the boat traffic...
Finally, he circles around to drift the ski rope close enuff for me to grab + asks "Did u see that water mocassin I was pointing to?"
      WATER MOCASSIN???? 😲😲😲
I said: "GUN IT -- NOW!!!"
I almost walked water that day...
You can ask Jesus; He'll tell ya!

@Imokanurnot No, TY, for the well-explained types of DE + how to use.
I sent this to a girlfriend + she said, like you, it works on fleas...
I replied: "How? In your sand box, in your house, beach house...?" 🤔
She has not yet replied -- but u did!
      TY! 👍

It probably is not good for them. I do my best to put it on my tomatoes before I have lots of blooms.

Diatomaceous earth does nothing to aphids, unfortunately. But it works great against other garden killer bugs!!

      @useful.knowledge  Před 11 měsíci +1

Hi. What type of aphids did it not work? I use it on my tomatoes for aphids and I just used it on sugarcane aphids and it worked.
