- Check out our EGO chainsaw 18 inch review. We used this EGO 18 inch chainsaw to cut up a huge cedar tree. Our EGO 18 inch chainsaw with the 56 volt battery to cut up a cedar that was 24 inches in diameter at the base. The tree was so large, I had to cut from both sides.
We only used one 56 volt, 5 ah battery charge to cut up the tree into a total of four nine foot sections. The EGO chainsaw 18 inch was extremely powerful and cut the tree without issue.
The only modification on this chainsaw is a carbide tip chain that we added.
The EGO 18 inch chainsaw is truly a workhorse. Its a real chainsaw that can handle whatever cutting job a homeowner may need. The battery was recharged in a little over an hour and was ready for more work. Although the battery charged quickly, I have a spare which means I can run a saw for up to four hours.

The EGO chainsaw 18 inch is a great power tool. - Jak na to + styl
Thanks for the review, I've been looking at that one because I have the lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower, and trimmer already.
Hi. Thanks!! I replaced a Stihl with this EGO chainsaw. I got tired of the Stihl telling me when it was going to start. I will not be going back. Sounds like you are stocked with plenty of extra batteries will all of the other tools. I mow about two acres and my zero turn is 17 years old so I’ve been looking at the EGO zero turn but my old cub cadet keeps running.
Same
These things are coming in a couple of years, that's for damn sure. I think this is one of the best ones at this time. Becoming useful. No noise, less local pollution, no local air pollution...
I did worry moving over from my old Stihl. Mine was the Stihl that now has horrible reviews. Well mine lasted for about 6 years before it was a 50/50 on cranking. Then it got worse. We have used the EGO at the hunting for work days over the past year and everyone that uses it, loves it.
Thanks Jamie. I had my St*** out in Nov, working fine. I got it out the first of March and it is locked up, has to go to the shop. I have an electric push mower and when I sell this chain saw, everything will be electric. Thank you. God Bless and stay safe.
Hi. That St*** that I had for 10 years was grumpy to start and honestly got to the point I never knew if it would start. This EGO is awesome! God Bless!!
Thanks for the tip and the link on the carbine tip chain. I wouldn't have know to take that path. Also, thanks for the review.
Thanks! We used that saw this fall at the hunting camp. Everyone that uses it, loves it.
I have the 18" its an amazing chain saw out performs my DeWalt chainsaw hands down!
They are definitely great saws. I haven’t missed my gas saw.
I was torn between the Echo, Husqvarna, Greenworks, and this EGO chainsaw. No matter how many videos I watched, someone always shows one is faster than the other and nothing is consistent. So, I just made a command decision and ordered the EGO 18" chainsaw on a Prime Day deal. Hope I like it!
I think you’ll like the EGO 18”. I have an extra battery and put a carbide tip chain on it and I love it. We were using it last weekend at the hunting camp and my friend says he’s getting one now. I enjoy the fact that I throw the saw, batteries, charger, and chain oil in the back of my truck and it’s ready to go when I get to the hunting camp. I don’t worry about gas or if it will decide to not crank.
Good review-
Thanks!!
why did you choose a pine tree for the show, instead of the cedar you cut before?
We had already taken the cedar tree to the mill and when I decided to do the video. That pine was blown over in a storm.
Part # for the carbide Chain you ordered please ??

Here is where I purchased it on EBay.
What oil did you use instead?
Hi. Just some 30 weight bar oil. Some folks are saying that they use a thinner oil like 5W-20.
Do you know how to replace the Chain Sprocket?
Hi. I do not because I haven’t actually looked at how to take off the sprocket. Did yours break?
No way wow I just ordered an 18 inch yesterday. That is amazing.
Hi. You will love it!
must be doing something wrong.. my 18 Ego can't even cut a 12 inch pine.... takes friggin forever
Hi. Could be your chain is simply dull. I swapped out the chain that came with the saw for a really good carbide one. I still have that same carbide chain on the saw and haven’t sharpened it. Also, make sure the chain is not on backwards. I know it sounds bad but I’ve done it.
