    Thank you! Looking forward to camping season. I am old enough to be a fair weather camper... 2° last night. Love the jellies on breakfast burritos. God Bless and stay safe.

      Thanks!! There is nothing wrong with fair weather camping. I want to go and enjoy the time in the outdoors and not be miserable. I have been caught in unexpected thunderstorms and just pure miserable cold rain. I like it sunny 🤣. The coldest I have camped was 13 deg F on back to back night with no heat in my tent. I’ve got one of the old military extreme cold sleeping bags. I was really warm.

      Hi. Thanks! The preserves last at least a year in the pantry. Cordial syrup sounds interesting. I’ll see what we can do on making a video.

    The cast iron pot has to be right on top of the flamed wood to work? This is all new to me. Thank you!

      Hi. The dutch oven can actually do it all. I've made cobblers, breakfast burritos, biscuits, muffins, and even used it to deep fry corndogs in that one shown on the video. The dutch oven is built to sit right on top of the coals. It has small legs the keep slightly elevated.

      @@useful.knowledge Thank-you, I did not know that D.O. could handle being right on top of the coals either ... gtk : )

    Cast Iron is totally new to use ... we bought our 1st Lodge logic Dutch oven : ) last summer but b/c of all that has been going on : ( {c-vd etc} we have not used it yet.
    I appreciate this video, if you do use your D.Oven more, we'd appreciate you filming those times as well !
    I would like to try biscuits in ours1st but just wondering if a metal pie plate (raised inside the d.o.) should be placed inside OR do/can you cook (bake) the biscuits directly by sitting them on the bottom of the cast iron D.O. ? Thank-you for sharing : ) !!!

    • @useful.knowledge
      @useful.knowledge  Před 2 lety

      Hi. You definitely need something to get the biscuits up off the bottom of the Dutch oven. Lodge makes a cast iron trivet just for that. Your actual biscuit pan will sit on the trivet. For many many years, I used an old metal pie pan as a makeshift trivet.
      I agree about more Dutch oven video. We are going to make a few more this spring.

    • @cindyglass5827

      @@useful.knowledge oh Neat !! Thank-you : ) I didn't know about the trivet, I'm going on Amazon right after this to order it. Great idea about the old metal pie plate ... forgot to mention we did also order the Big sized & v. Deep disposable LL Aluminum foil liners - I did this as I was afraid I'd end up burning stuff the first few times I tried the D.O. & figured I could just toss these out ... LOL, Thanks again for your recc' (trivet) HAGWk : )
      *UPDATE* : [20 minutes later] ... I just ordered the Trivet : ) Thanks Again !!

    Hi, How do you keep the coffee grounds out of your coffee cup? Thank you.

    • @useful.knowledge
      @useful.knowledge  Před 4 dny +1

      Hi. Once you remove it from the heat and it stops boiling, the grounds will settle to the bottom of the pot. Just give it a few minutes. You still may get a few grounds but almost all will be at the bottom of your cup.
