Not your Mamas Meatball Sub 😝•Turkey and Beef Sub with Spinach and cheese 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I said I'd show you more of my favorite sandwiches to make and this is definitely in the top 5!!!
To begin we start with the meatballs.. here's my recipe:
Meatballs:
1 pack of Italian sausage with the skin removed , 2.5 lbs of ground turkey , 3/4 cup each of onion and bell pepper, a half cup of pecorino Romano breadcrumbs, Season to taste with the following beef, bouillon, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, Tony Sateri, creole seasoning, black pepper, badia complete , paprika, parsley, 1/2 cup of water, 1 egg and minced garlic , mix but do not over mix. Roll out balls and set aside
Heat olive oil in a pan and fry until brown on all sides. Transfer to put sauce pot to simmer
Sauce: your favorite spaghetti sauce, plus the following: salt, badia complete, black pepper and basil.. simmer on low
Once all of the meatballs are done, you are going to let them simmer in your sauce for about 30 to 45 minutes on low
While that is going, start on your spinach which you're going to sauté some garlic and some olive oil. You add your fresh spinach and then you sauté until done adding salt, pepper, and chicken bouillon.
To build your sandwich you are going to slice your fresh bakery roll at the top to keep it from spilling, melt some butter, add some basil and garlic powder and brush the inside of the bread. Then you are going to add your meatballs a little of the sauce top with the spinach and then add cheese. Then you are going to bake in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes or 400° let cool before serving and enjoy.

That's great! I no longer live in Chicago so I cannot purchase it. Also, since Covid a lot of restaurants have changed. It's nice to have an alternative for home when you want to save money 🙂

I think this the first time I haven’t seen milk added in the batter. Do you still add oil in your batter if you wasn’t adding the coconut flakes in it?
Hi, I have actually never added milk to any pound cake I've made. I use oil if I'm adding a drying ingredient to lock in moisture. So to answer your question, no I wouldn't add oil if I wasn't adding the coconut. However, the oil helps ensure moisture in the event of over mixing so it wouldn't hurt to add it either way.
