We only get 91 here too lol, sadly no higher :( Have you experienced any problems with mixing the fuels at all though? Also, we’d definitely recommend buying an ecutek if you’re debating on tuning your car👀 Makes a world of a difference!

@@carantix hmm.. I used to live in CA years ago. I thought you guys had 93 for some reason. adding 2-3 gallons of e85 to 91 tank can net you between 94-95 octane I believe. these cars were meant to run on 93 due to high compression. I would not do more than 3 gallons on stock ECU. ive been mixing the fuel since February of this year. I've talked to others who have been axing fuel for some time now with no issues. I do it once a month or so. if I keep the car long enough, I do plan to tune it. Currently we are hitting temps of 115 here, so mixing does make a difference on how the car runs in hot temps.

Maybe we’ve just missed some 93 stations somewhere. I honestly wouldn’t doubt if they had one just hidden🤷‍♂️ That’s really cool though that you’re able to mix 91 with e85 to make 93. We never thought of that but we should’ve tried when we had the chance. I’d bet that it really does help out the cars like you’re saying!😎😎

@@carantix it does. the car loves the e85. it does pull harder between 3500-5000rpms. no more sluggishness in the lower rpm range as well!

We’re pretty sure you’ll be fine if you’re just daily driving it. Andrew’s car was perfectly fine even with spirited/canyon. The reason for the failure on his car was repeated 🍩s. In the end it all depends on your car and how much there is. Hopefully you’re lucky and there’s no issues with yours!

It’s definitely not the best but just curious which brands would be just as cheap, fit with the spare tire, and won’t be overkill for the car?

@@carantix it would involve building a custom enclosure in the spare tire well. But the options are limitless for more sound then that JBL and for 500$ ouch.

Noted! If we ever revisit, we’ll build a custom enclosure or if too lazy then we’ll get one like Derek’s (BRZ) that barely fits the trunk but thumps like crazy😂😂

Speakers could be a little louder and clearer but they’re 1000x better when there’s an added “good” sub that covers the low end of the stock speakers. We just wanted something nice and enjoyable without diving into replacing stock speakers since we like bass and that was the main problem for us on the stocks

Here in SoCal most gas stations don’t have e85 so going to one could be out of the way. Not only that, but with e85 the mileage does drop so needing to fill up more often can be a hassle as well. It all really depends on your situation and use for the car! Lucky for us we have a few in our area so we do run e85 on the daily 😎

@carantix I meant, why 91 instead of 93? 93 is what the cats run from factory. Is it different in SoCal?

Monday we’re going to drop an update video for the brz so there will be more detail. But, the cars been running really great so far other than a slight oil leak somewhere in the engine causing excessive oil loss and smoke out of the exhaust on idle.
