- This week we have another very very unfortunate video for you guys... This time the GR86 started having engine issues (rod knock) right after doing some donuts. We are very sad to bring this news as both of the cars are now out of commission for the time being; however, were excited to bring you guys along while we rebuild our cars from the ground up! Stay tuned for the series and well be back to driving soon!

thats rough!, ive heard of those BRZ's having issues with sustained right* turns and oil starvation. My heart goes out to you guys right now.
Thank you! ❤️❤️
Only on the track at heavy Gs. Over fill oil it’s fine. Daily driving it’s fine. But if your like this boys and beat on it, no car will survive.
@@michaeljohn1160overfilling doesn’t help these cars unless there’s a baffle installed already
Few questions if you don't mind. How many miles on the car? When was your last oil change? Last time you checked the oil level, how full was it?
Car has close to 25k miles on it and last oil change was about 4k miles ago. Oil levels were to the top when last checked and the same when checking after the incident happened.
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Luckily I'm old and probably won't blow mine up! My understanding is that the oil pressure drops with both right and left hand turns. Just worse going right.
Sadly that was found out the hard way for us :( Glad you’re still able to enjoy yours tho!
Wow well that's too bad but really wouldn't get a subaru engine anymore. Huge waste of time and money.
Do you have to worry about rtv issue if you dont track the car at all but daily it ?
We’re pretty sure you’ll be fine if you’re just daily driving it. Andrew’s car was perfectly fine even with spirited/canyon. The reason for the failure on his car was repeated 🍩s. In the end it all depends on your car and how much there is. Hopefully you’re lucky and there’s no issues with yours!
Don’t run that 0w-20 😭
But Toyota said so…🥺🥺
Talk about bad luck :\ i was actually planning a Canyon ride with a friend now having second thoughts 😳
Haha, gotta take your chances sometimes. We just ended up pushing our luck a little too far before we could fix the problem ://
Why didn’t you guys just take it to Toyota and see if it’s covered under warranty?
We would but the GR86 is tuned so it automatically voids warranty lol
@@carantix that isnt true. They could deny the claim but theyd have to prove it was because of the tune
@@AaronBrooks0321 isn't it the same as if you were to track your car though? All warranties are voided after you touch a track and all warranties are voided if you mess with your ecu no?
@@carantix nope, not at all. Track driving doesnt effect the warranty. They may deny a repair if they know you were on track and can prove that caused the issue but your warranty is still in tact. If you track the car and your stereo goes out, theyll fix it under warranty. The past few GR86s that blew an engine on track were all fixed under warranty
🙏🙏
The first second of the video explained the thumbnail 🤣
that what I thought too LOL. RIP
Had to get straight into it 😅
You guys certainly know how to ruin cars. Rule #1: take care of your things! Joy rides can be expensive. Good luck with the fix.
Definitely learning this the hard way ://
Thank you though!
Not both of them! 0️⃣😭😭😭
Yes both of them 🥲🥲
it sucks that they dropped the ball on these engines. i really like these cars.
They are very reliable actually lol
@@ThatBoyAFreak this is a video of two stock engines that failed. that isn't reliable by any standard. stop the cope.
@@OEMPlus brother they were beating on them and didn't take any precautions thats on them
@@ThatBoyAFreak reliable engines can take a beating.
@@OEMPlus might want to take a look at their past videos...
Wow. Was going to buy one . Not any more .
Don’t let us discourage you from buying one, it’s actually a really nice car! Just make sure to take care of the rtv situation as well as keep up with maintenance and you’ll really love the car😎😎
What have to be done with the RTV situation ? @@carantix
You could try taking it to Toyota to have the oil pan dropped and to clear the rtv, not sure if they charge for that though. Could also try doing it yourself!
Here is the nothing sandwich. Some Rtv is going to come loose in a new engine. The pickup has 3 filter sides vs just 1 in 1gen. Oil is getting to engine. But if you are tracking 3-9+ times a year, drop the pan and clean pickup tube. No more rtv will collect. Add a 1/2 to 1qtr on track days. All track drivers do this on their cars. It takes strong Gs to create low pressure. If you do donuts like this guy…
Well that escalated quickly
Unlike our cars 0-60 time 💀
how do ya’ll afford all this lol
Realistically we can’t, but our financial decisions say otherwise :)
@@carantixhaha it’s all good! was just curious, nice 86! clean cars, and dope content🤙
Sorry for replying so late but thank you bro! ❤️❤️
Gr86 is a great car if you don’t needlessly beat on it doing donuts and other stupid crap. You pay the price for it. Oil pickup rtv issue has nothing to do with low right oil pressures. Lubrication design. Any time you track a car over fill be 1/2 to 1 qtr. my son is your age. Laughed at how you disrespect your cars.
Respectfully I wouldn’t use disrespect as the right word, maybe more like admiring the cars for what they’re intended for. We definitely could’ve been more careful and have taken a little better care of the cars but it’s all a part of the learning process!L and helps us learn about our cars better!
we can do my car for the videos now ;)
Your car needs some fixing too :/
Hang in there guys🤙🏻
We are trying our best! Looking at it in a positive way and as an opportunity to learn more about our cars. Thank you!
I hope you get your baby back up and running
