The whole argument presented against the pick is that you are Either Wasting Kirk cousins OR you are Wasting Penix. You are assuming there is no chance we get 2-3 solid years from Kirk Cousins AND Penix is a solid QB for us. Lets say Kirk Balls out all 4 years (Highly unlikely) and retires a falcons, then Michael Penix plays until he is 35 that's 11 YEARS of Solid to good maybe even GREAT Quarter back play. That's not Wasting anything. We watched defense Drop down to 15+ so it will be way easier to get a Dallas turner or Quinyon Mitchell in the future it WONT be so easy to get a Penix. We don't want to flail about like we did after Matt Ryan. Not to mention Falcons have an incoming tampering punishment that may prevent them from picking in the first round all together in future drafts.

They signed the $100 million QB because the Falcons wide receivers and TE weren’t getting any production from the scrap heap QBs on the roster. It would only take a Google search to see that Drake London and Kyle Pitts (even coming off injury) underperformed because their QBs couldn’t get them the ball consistently. If they were to go through another season of this, will the locker room be able to handle their disgust at the management? Sure they overpaid for Cousins. It is a decent move to bring him in. It was masterful to sign Penix as his backup.
