Hi! I'm Melanie. Come learn how to grow food and feed your family.
Join me as I bring you along on my Florida homesteading journey. If you are gardening in a warmer climate or are interested in homesteading then be sure to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss out on any of my videos.
I am a South Florida homesteader. Growing in Florida is unique in that the climate is near tropical. I focus on growing tropical fruits and tropical perennial vegetables. The summers are very hot, so most common vegetables do poorly during the summer. The vegetable gardening is saved for the winter, but with a little knowledge on what plants can take the Florida summer sun you too can have an abundant Florida summer garden. If you want to learn more be sure to check out my website and join me on social media. The links are down below.

Love the fruits were growing!!! Are you still harvesting soursop? I see your store is closed for those. Anyway, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!! Hope all is well!!!
Hello. Thanks so much for sharing this. I tried growing with mesh bags last year and it did not work out. I just picked 2 and noticed one was slightly different and slightly mushy. Anyways I soaked in vinegar, water and baking soda. So far one worm came out! I can even see the exit hole. 😮
THANK YOU for bringing this concern up. I had a pine tree cut down in my yard, and have been considering turning the logs into a Hugelkultur bed, but I definitely have carpenter ants and don't want to give them a free palace. I'll definitely need to think more about this. I wonder if there's a way to deter the ants from the wood.
I eat mine with kefir . it's a super health bomb ! and tastes amazing. must try folks !
How can you find out a green vine like the vanilla tree I have a couple of plant's that looks like the leave of you vanilla vine tree!!! How can I ID a plant that I planted from a seed and forgot to write ✍️ on lollipop stick so be able to ID the 🪴 plant's ❤
I by mistakenly ate it.. is there any problem
send me one Soursop or some leaves ❤
Looks like a sour sop
These are called Limoncello in the Dominican Republic!
Thanks for this video. Enjoyed it. Your Okra maybe suffering from root knot nematodes. Pull one up and check the roots.
This plant have so many benefits use in cooking or soaking your feet in a warm water
I have a lot of bare corners on my lawn. These would be perfect grass substitute.
I love your personality and detailed tips. I hope all is well with you and that you never stop making content.
Yes rain is always welcomed in the garden
I need the seeds

About How many seeds are in a segment or a spoonful. So I’m hoping you see my comment as a suggestion and not a criticism I love the idea of showing fruits and maybe vegetables that most people don’t get to see or experience. Thank you. Problem is when you hold up a spoonful of for instance, seeds, or fruit tilted toward the camera. It gets blurry when you hold it up straight and you can’t see what’s on the spoon. Thanks again.
You should look into mulching. Especially in a hot area, mulch will stop water loss from the soil, stop the soil from getting too hot, and can double as compost.
What type of soil does the tree require, I have sandy soil used to be a orange Groves
Great job I learned a lot thank you
Do you do videos of what to do with your harvest? Like with the sweet potato, I read you had to leave them sit out for a few months before cooking them
@fitshortie
Varry varry beutiful You And fruit
Excellent job! I've got a ton of mysore growing wild and I had no idea what to do with them and now I do! Thank you.
When you build a Hugelkkltur bed it needs to be controlled its humidity. We need to cover them with a plastic sheet for at least a year so it can't be too wet or too dry. (Don’t forget to make little holes in the plastic) We don't water them for the first three months, you just water them just enough to cover the soil on the day you build one. Three months after you build a bed, punch holes in a plastic to sow anything you want. Also, degrading logs require a little bit of the air, so it's important to dig each side of the bed to let them easier to breath.(but don't expose them)
That’s a guaya or quenepa, momón or mamoncillo,Spanish Limes which are the same as mamoncillos look very similar to leeches but taste different I agree with you.
Do you know you can root the leaves as well!!😊
Cinnamon, lemon juice, vinegar, and brewed coffee grounds are all natural ant repellents. You can put any of these around the perimeter of your garden bed.
Hi i like ur video I have one plant has grown crazy long and just flowered I want to prune it in winter My quedtion is pruning old branches is required but fruit growns in 2 nd y canes, will i b removing fruting canes? For next spring
We experienced the exact same problem on multiple fruit trees in our backyard orchard. Ants create symbiotic relationships with bugs that feed off fruit trees, slowing and stunting growth and production. We put tape around the base trunk of each affected tree. This stopped the ants climbing up the trees and all the sucking pest problems went away.
My vanilla orchard was small and stitching itself to a mini pony tail Palm. I decided to remove it from the mini palm and attach it to a bottle palm but the roots are coming out dry and not attaching. Leaves are growing. Some of the bottom leaves got brown and dry and shriveled. How can I get the roots to grow healthy and attach to the tree?
It’s great when combined with sea moss
By far the most informative video on Mysore Raspberries. My only question is, why wait until late Summer to cut down the old brown canes? Wouldn't it be better to take them down as soon as possible like immediately after harvest?
Please, please stop saying “So” thank you for the video you did a great job!
Please , please, please, stop criticizing her! You talk how you want and let her talk the way she wants! Who do you think you are!!!
i haven't :(
Any good tips for preventing this? Maybe like those mesh fruit bags to keep the flies off trhe fruit? or fruit fly traps?
I tried bagging them with mesh bags this year, it helps a little but really not too great. I think it's because the mesh isn't thick enough and when it rains, or on windy days the mesh will eventually touch the fruit and the fruit flies can still get to them. I have just removed a lot of fruits that are still attached to tree and still in mesh bags, but can see many fruit fly pupae at the bottom of mesh bags so those fruits were definitely infested. I'm going to try double bag next time, or find a way to keep enough distance between fruit and mesh bag at all times so fruit flies can't reach.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Didn't think about it. Will consider it when planning garden beds
Thx for sharing! Greetings from Egypt 💐
Thanks for the tutorial on how to eat this !
Well, aside from the ants, those power lines are horrible to be under. That doesn't help matters.
Eat them.
In Trinidad we call them chennette & in Guyana they are called guinep
Is that a relative to the guanabana? It doesn't really look like it from the outside, but the inside looks identical.
Ohh!!! my, you made a mess of that fruit including debris all over the Pulp
One could batter it and then season it and finally 🎉😊😂 fried...
