Beans are a versatile vegetable. They can be eaten when young as green beans. Then once the seeds inside the pods have matured they can be eaten as a fresh shelling bean, which are similar to green peas. Once the pods and seeds are fully dried they can be shelled and cooked as a dry bean. Saving been seeds for planting next year is simple. It is also a necessary step when harvesting beans to be used as a dry bean. Depending on the type of bean seed you are saving the steps are a little different. In this video I teach you how to save, shell, and clean bean seeds.
