  • By watching this video you will learn how to grow a pineapple from a store-bought fruit. Welcome to my channel, Our Tropical Soil, where you can learn more about growing food in the tropics!
I have found that this method of pineapple propagation is easy and effective. There is no need to root the pineapple top in water first making it easy to regrow a pineapple.

Cool video! I have failed propagating pineapple in the past. Your video is very clear. I'm motivated to give it a go again! Thank you!!

Thank you for the support. If you try it it will take a while to root so don't remove the pineapple top from the soil. Just give it time :).

Pineapples were the very first fruit I grew. That was fun to watch! They did not grow to big though & I didn't know why but I was a beginner back then.

I am also a beginner growing pineapples! We have our first pineapple growing. I heard in a video that the pineapples that grow on rooted pineapple tops are smaller. Then once the plant fruits once side shoots develop and those side shoots will go on to produce bigger pineapples. The mother plant then needs to be cut down and the side shoots left to grow. Similar to a banana matt. I haven't tried this though. I just remember hearing a man talk about it in a video. :)

You should start them in December and January. Then they take 18 months instead os two years. There is a great podcast called Florida gardening u need to check out they had someone from dole pineapple on. Also. They like foliar fertilizer

I haven't heard of that podcast. Thanks, I will check it out. Why do they take less time to produce when started during the winter. I start them as we buy pineapple plants though. I can't really wait till a specific time of year.

Listen to the podcast. I think they get there root established first winter. You will get bigger pineapples. And u can leave them outside. Also u can go to grocery and ask if u can have the pineapple tops

Yes I normally will move them out into the sun. I just keep them in the shade until they root.

Oh man, that is very unfortunate. Luckily there are many other tropical fruit out there to enjoy.
