I like these bikes very much, never had the commitment needed to buy one, but this takes me closer.
@@stevec-b6214 they are a very different experience to ride, that said they never fail to make me smile
Beautiful! ❤
thank you
This is priceless. I think Count Arthur Strong might have been watching you. New sub and 2014 v7 stone owner. 😊
I am sorry I don;t know who Count Arthur Strong is but he does sound interesting.
Guzzi owners bit like Citroen owners.. very nice… but duffle coat done up on the wrong toggle
Not sure that's a complement but I will take as one
Greetings OldGuyinShed, congratulations on that new beauty and thank you for sharing, especially starting her up and letting us experience the idle. I have a story for you. My vx-800 had a dragging rear brake, which has been a long term problem I was unaware of. Well my eyes finally opened up and I got to work, rather reluctantly, but I did get it resolved and am very happy again. My mileage has improved to boot! The rear caliper is a two piston design and the inside was jammed up at full out position. The only way I knew was the rear brake would make a rattling sound and I noticed pressing it would make i stop. I was out on a long ride and it kept getting more persistent until I finally pulled over and noticed a hot caliper.
Modern hydraulics not so bad with cables, of course the down side they don't stop you quite so well.
I had one a few years ago. It was ex police, in dark blue. I went all over the place, with no problems. It was, however, very heavy, which was why it was so slow! A great bike, enjoy it!
I also think it's more just weight, the engine is so soft with very little in the way of true power it just has no speed in it
Love it,have fun
It's very easy to have fun on it, not fast but it will get you there
Ain't that a wonderful sound?
it most certainly is
That's wonderful Andy. I've a Militare myself. They're slow but incredibly fun. I think that's an ex Carabinieri bike as it has their their own mod on the flywheel casing to make timing a lot easier.
I have also been told the flywheel is heavier on the Carabinieri model.
@@oldguyinshed1703 I didn't know that. Mine was taken from a 16th flour mill I think. It's a might heavy, but makes for a combustion every other lamp post.
Looks a very interesting bike!
I think my description of "bonkers" is more accurate than interesting, mainly because it is Bonkers and riding it leaves you grinning like a village idiot
I should have bought one of those when I lived in Italy. Good ones were going for around 1.5 million lira, around £1000, we bought a 650 Cadgiva Alla Azzura for my then girlfriend, now wife to ride back to Blighty on. I was on my trusty and much loved Guzzi G5. I’m very envious of your new toy…sorry… bike.😍
The Guzzi G5 is a fine bike, though I know nothing of the Cagiva Alla Azzura, The Italians do produce interesting motorbikes.
An interesting and fine aquisition to the collection, and another Guzzi! Nice!
Starting to become an addiction
@@oldguyinshed1703 donka donka is good to listen to at our time of life. Well done you have added a lovely new layer of the Moto Guzzi experience to your life. Enjoy!
well done matey im glad youve got one at last im thinking of getting the little black pig from under the covers becos my daughter has just got her cbt done and dusted gonna take her for a ride up the devils staircase soon with me on the pig cheers andy im well pleased youve got that bike
Well done to your daughter, I still have the Civille. I might do a comparison episode.
What a fantastic machine. A true continental beauty and a very worthy addition to your Atelier de Rêve. Cheers man
Beauty is a bit ott but it is a capable machine.
Keep the guzzi videos coming.❤❤❤❤❤
I will do my best
Thank you for sharing the latest addition to the Shed, it's certainly "unusual"😂
Not that unusual for me, I tend to enjoy off center choices

Hi from the Netherlands… next weekend we celebrate the 2024 international guzzi meeting in ‘Tienhoven aan de Lek’. I take my guzzi cal 1100i out, tent, sleeping bag and a load of good feelings. Driven all kind of bike brands, changed 10 years ago to Guzzi and I love them. Should have done it years earlier. What a load of fun. Thanks for this video… and yes, best brakes in the world, by far 😉👍
I'm afraid my camping days are over, the old bones can't take it any more. I am the same as you, had lots of bikes then found Guzzis and wished I had done it years ago.
I am a long time rider at 71 and have had, literally, 3 dozen bikes since 1968. I was a BMW addict for years, now I’m clean and disillusioned of new BMW Motorrad , but I have also had a number of other makes and models. In the last 8 years I have gotten a California 1400 that is like my fine dogs Buster and Katy. I would never get rid of ol’ Buster or Katy, nor would I get rid of this bike. Indeed I might get another M-G, a bit smaller, as well. Or not, but I am keeping the California. If I may suggest - keep that motorcycle. You will notice that it seems to get better and better. Moto Guzzi design and build is a wonderful and unique state of mind. The bikes are great riders bikes. It really doesn’t completely make sense.
I have become a Guzzi fan after many years of owning various makes. That said I really could not come to terms with the California. A shame as I really did want to like it
Incredibly beautiful and effective road bike. Loved my 2 valver...........
I had the Breva 1100 before the Norge and thought the 2 Valve engines sounded better than the 4 valve. Negligible performance improvement but noisy chain clatter.
@@oldguyinshed1703 Absolutely. I put a Quill silencer on my Norge which saved weight, gave more ground clearance, and decatted the bike. On a dyno it liberated another 8 bhp, and as a dealer said, "why have a 4 valver?" I also think that the riding position was better on the 2 valve Norge, and the styling subtley better??? I would still have it (bought new 2007/8) if not written off in a crash for cash set up............
I have heard of other owners with squeaky suspension! Did you manage to reset the service light yourself, or is that a dealer only fix?
The bike no longer squeaks and I have diagnostics that covers the V85 so no need for dealer
I remember riding my old MZ 250 after having my ears syringed, I was horrified at the racket it made.
I had a TS250 MZ and really enjoyed it as a workhorse bike, you are right though they never sounded anything like as well as they rode, to me they were like a BSA Bantam on steroids.
Great thankyou good sir. Short & sweet.
Glad you liked it.
If you mentioned it out loud Siri or Google will probably have heard you. Too many occurrences like this happen to be coincidence.
I don't think I did as I noticed it in the shed then came into the house logged on and there it was. weird.
Short and sweet! Isn't it satisfying when you experience a problem, identify the cause and rectify it in short order....
Yes it is satisfying especially when nothing else goes wrong.
You’r computer do strange things indeed, i saw a piece of your film twice 😂 but thanks for the movie old guy. Greetings from the breva guy in little Belgium. 😉
I spotted after the upload just trying to fix it but not sure how, thank for watching though I do appreciate the support
@@oldguyinshed1703 no problem old guy, always like the movies you make, looking forward to the next one. by the way: still love my breva 👍🏻
I’ll take it! I have 200 Jackal and need upgrades like yours for touring. I find it handles quite nimbly for its size.
I really couldn't come to terms with it so it had to go, no regrets though I did need to experience it/
The front faring is ugly, put a standard cali clear screan on!
I would but I sold it in stead
Do the side stand lock down like on a harley ? Im looking at one for myself
No they don't lock but that doesn't seem to be an issue with them.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome
When did main stands become an optional upcharge? Mad! Good to see you again Andy. Scotland on a bike. Awesome. Stay clear if the NC500, not what it was due to numbties in large camper vans. So please see the book by J.G. Fergusson.
When I did it the camper van problem wasn't too bad though it was a good few years ago now
@@oldguyinshed1703 Unfortunately the situation between locals and some of the camper van fraternity has become more than a little tense. I work in Scotland a lot around Wick and Thurso and the mess and down right disrespectful behaviour by this minority is going to spoil it for everyone.
@@iandeumayne-jones1557 sadly this has always been the case
Enjoyed the tappet adjustment
I'm glad you liked it
Love the Morini, what was the verdict on the gearing?
I counted the front and rear sprockets and they are what they are supposed to be as standard
Nice 3 1/2
Thank you
I agree Scotland is amazing especially the west coast. I was hoping to get back up there this year but house works means that is unlikely to happen but I might get a couple of days in the Lakes maybe.
Nothing wrong with the lakes, I did the Hard Knot pass in the seventies before it was crowded, it more like an obstacle course than a road but fantastic nonetheless
good show
Thank you
Nice bike. Something a bit different!
They really are a little gem of a bike
Love the look of this how would it fit someone in the region of 6ft 3”
I guess it would depend on your inside leg length, I am 6ft and found it very comfortable, try to get a good long test ride
@@oldguyinshed1703 thanks for your quick reply, i shall indeed. Keep up the great videos very entertaining
LUXURY! Ah only ride on ice and deep snow with just marigolds and a sunday times down me jacket, bloody softies these days bah!
Sounds like a Monty Python sketch, Eee when I were a lad we had to get up before we went to bed and lick road with us tongues.
Count up how many days a year on our little island are below zero, or even below 3 (my limit) and snowy roads. Putting my bike away for months on end would be like locking the wine cabinet coz its too warm.
my wine never gets to the cabinet, by the way, what are wine bottle stoppers for.
`AGM batteries don't have nearly as much internal resistance, which is how they absorb 30, 40, even 50 amps at a time instead of a regular battery getting stressed out at more than 10 amps. This is also why an AGM battery needs special charging. Regular battery charging can break AGM batteries` (sez google)
I really need to get my head around this stuff
Hi, saw you had roger nathan vid up, i was involved in some of Frank's projects. I am looking for a bike to buy have you got that benelli twin?or 3 1/2 or 380 suzuki?.even the little mv. In cardigan bay area.whats your email phone number ?
07779724015. I have to sell the MV due to ill health if it's of interest to you
I was very interested in the breva, after your video, saw one for sale really cheap, but maybe there was a reason. maybe you could show how to spot common problems, and what can be very expensive to fix (eg the final drive on bmw)
They do seem to appear on the market for very little money, my pal has one that has done over 90k miles and runs as well as my low mileage bike, so I can't really comment on what to look for as we have had no problems yet
We holiday in Pembrokeshire every year and early in 2023 visited the museum, it was a great way to spend at least half a day. Lovely people running it, could not have been more helpful explaining each of the exhibits and a decent cafe and shop. We will go back again another time. Great to see another video from you. Cheers Paul
I think the people running it are all volunteers which would explain their enthusiasm, they all seem so invested in the exhibits. I think its a great place to visit
If you ever fancy doing a vid on inspecting and adjusting the clutch on your Falcone I'd be glued to that one. Plan to have a few days exploring Wales this summer on my Nuovo Falcone Militare. Good to see and hear you again Andy.
I don't think I have ever needed to touch the Falcone clutch but I guess it would not hurt to check over before any problems occur.
I have just replaced a clutch in a Nuovo Falcone, I did not video it but is there anything in particular you wanted to know? I was concerned about doing it but it all went well for me. Thanks Paul
@@classicrider5274 Thanks Paul. Much appreciated. I am going to check the spring lengths, engine casing lever assy and general operation as I would like to try and lessen the amount of effort needed at the handlebar lever. I've had a hand op and full strength has not returned yet. Cable seems in good condition and slides without excess friction, so I'm looking for any gain possible. I know these boxes require a ponderous change, but although the 1972 bike has less than 10k kms on it, I suspect the plates are original and maybe new would just improve the whole operation? Any thoughts and experience most welcome.
@@iandeumayne-jones1557 Hi Ian, I have owned mine for a couple of years and not really done many miles. It’s only done 13000 km from new so not worn out. First winter I replaced steering head bearings and special rear wheel bearings as they were rusty and notchy. Spring last year, back on the road found the clutch slipping so put to back of shed and fixed it last winter. My plain plates were clearly overheated and distorted but measured ok. The friction plates were also to spec. The springs were shorter by about 5mm. I doubt the overheating was during my ownership and no idea how long it has been like this. I suspect the springs lost effectiveness with time and allowed the clutch slip. I bought a complete clutch from Germany and now have no clutch slip. I have a new cable, the bar lever is well lubricated and there is not much you can do at the cases. The arm is connected to a rod which has a small lever on the other end, it locates under a a thrust bearing in the clutch centre. I read that the original friction material is not great and could slip. The supplier of my new clutch suggests stronger springs to prevent slip and I can feel it’s harder to pull the clutch now, but it’s better than a slipping clutch! There is not much to modify in the cases, have you seen those pressure reducing devices that some trials riders use? It’s a small device you fit in the cable run that alters the pull ratio but does reduce movement distance so everything else needs to be set correctly. I have not tried one and just put up with the harder clutch pull. The gear change on my bike is slow and it is difficult to get a fast getaway so tend to use my machine on the back roads where it is really at home and will stay in third gear for miles. One last thought, all the clutch parts are really over engineered so they could possibly be lightened and I know an aluminium clutch centre is available which may help. The outside flywheel is also part of the problem, it takes a long time to slow when changing gear! If you have any other questions I would be happy to help. Cheers Paul
@@classicrider5274 That is really helpful Paul. I suspect I've a similar issue with spring length and yes I've got a 'clutch ease' contraption but haven't fitted for the very reason you highlighted. Reduced travel. Anyway, I'll ride it this summer as much as I can and look at depth at the clutch in the winter. It doesn't slip so I'll put more effort i to my hand grip exercises. Enjoy your Falcone. They make life slow down don't they?
hey andy nice to see yr still at it matey hope to catch up with you soon cos ive just bought a nice guzzi bellagio keep up the good work all the best
Nice bike the Bellagio and not many of them around, it's good to be different.
Interesting to see the old Ruston engine. We still have one in service from the 60's as a backup generator. They just decommissioned our Mirlees gensets, that was a sad day to see them scrapped but parts and service were a nightmare. Glad to see an update, would like to have more local area videos, looks like a lovely place.
It is a great museum as they do run the machines, the ingenuity of the old engineers as to how they solved practical issues is fascinating. I hope to bring more trip type content in the future.
Its nice to have an update. Presumably all the various issues with the Morinis have been sorted?
Yes the Morinis are all behaving themselves now, I do like riding them as they are so much all round fun.
Good to see ya back! 🎉
Thank you it's good to be back
