    Hi, found your channel through a comment on mine, have a sub for the algorithm ;-) Just finally edited my thoughts on the V100 almost a year after riding one - I'm with you - I don't know what it's trying to be - but that's definitely not a bad thing. My V85TT has been reliable too - the only problems I've had with it have been caused by main dealers. Sigh!

      I was supposed to get a test ride on one when they were first introduced, I was contacted by Mandello through the Clan they said they would co-ordinate it with my local dealer, It never happened, I suspect that I can't get a test because my local dealer rejected a friend of mine because he is over 70, as am I, their reason is because insurance won't cover over that age,

    Paul from Australia, I own a 2021 V85tt 100 anniversary model ( green one ) love it . When I brought it was in a different state and ride it 2000kms home . Getting its first service along the way .The bottom guards are a common fault - due to the Guzzi rattle 😂😂😂

    I had the same problem and I think more people had the problem too; I contacted the dealer in Spain and even Moto Guzzi Italy and they told me that after the warranty expires, it's my problem... Damn, it's a clear design flaw... the crack goes around the bolt where the shield is attached because the isolator is not good enough and does not filter vibrations... I found it on both sides before they completely break... I used special two-component metal glue and installed a large washer... let´s see how it works 🤞

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I bought my bike second hand and past the warranty period so repairs are down to me. I went with the large washer sandwich method, and so far so good.

    Like others may have said. "Its not if will fail but when". Mine hasn't yet but I put washers on when I got the bike. A friend of mine has had his fail. Stock USB only has 1amp. May not power heated vest.

      Good idea to re enforce shield before failure. Vest seems to work but I can take a feed to an auxiliary USB from under the seat

    Shame about the pipe shield. Reminds me I need to get some new rubber washers for my Stelvio's bash plate before it starts making a racket down there, some went missing. Just getting her shod with some new Michelin Anakee Wild rubber right now, all fluids changed and oil pressure sensor replaced. Should be picking it up on Thursday.. Rode out on 6 PSI to the local garage for air.. that was fun, though didn't care, was too stoked being out on the steed once more!!
    Heated vest was the icing on the cake; happy to hear you've given it a go too! Tethering and then having a backup battery charging would be the optimum. I'm curious how much 'stuff' you can run on these bikes before the main battery becomes overwhelmed. Damned elastictrickery is witchcraft!
    Hope you had a good weekend! 👌

      @oldguyinshed1703  Před rokem +2

      Its great getting out after a break but 6psi sounds a bit interesting. You are definitely right about the witchcraft but with modern stuff not drawing much power I guess quite a lot can be achieved before the battery suffers, the Stelvio is a great bike enjoy.

    I agree the new Mandello is in a class of its own but I suppose it really falls into the lost genre of the sports/tourer, the CBF100, the Honda VFR800 and possibly the BMW R1200RS sort of bike. I went to look at it because I thought it was stunning and thought it might replace my CBF1000 but my wife really didn't like the look of it at all so we are at stalemate on that one.

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  Před rokem +2

      I'm certainly not getting into the middle of a domestic on that one, but when sat on it the feel is not of a sport tourer although I do agree with that's kind of where it falls. The more I looked at it and sat on it the harder it was to pidgeon hole, loverley bike though.

    I must check the heatshield on my bike. Perhaps I can think of some way of preventing this happening. I love the look of the new V100, especially in red with gold wheels! Apparently the engine is a peach. It will be interesting to see if they use it in an adventure bike in the future, but I'm happy with my V85tt anyway.

      @oldguyinshed1703  Před rokem +1

      I am still very pleased with the V85tt and I agree they should use the engine in other variance if only to grow a bigger market share.

    Another interesting vid. As far as I know from reading other forums, the heat shield mounting is a common failure. I've got a 2019 with 10,000 miles and I'm just waiting for mine to fail. I've been using a heated vest on a couple of bikes for a while now. Plugging it directly into the V85 usb socket has never been a problem. I think the socket can handle a 2A current draw but best check.

      @oldguyinshed1703  Před rokem +1

      I can believe the heat shield is a common issue just by looking at the material it's made of, have you plugged your heated vest into the usb? I think it would be a great solution

    • @dougmclaren4328
      @dougmclaren4328 Před rokem +1

    Waiting for the v100 from the time it was announced. Only thing the dealer can tell me is it's on order. In the states it looks as if it's rarer than my Honda rune. Maybe by mid summer.

    Please do not switch bikes again! You loved the Norge then swapped to the V85 which seems like only yesterday. I'm surprised to hear how much you already used it but come on a bike is a bike and if you must keep trying things you'll never stop.

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  Před rokem +2

      I did love the Norge and the only thing that made me swap it was that failing health meant it was getting to hard to move around the garage, the V85 is much lighter and easier with a tight steering lock to maneuver it out for me to ride. I have no intentions of getting another heavier bike than the V85.

    I have lost 6 screws in the same position on the other side.
    I drilled holes in two screw heads, stainless wire. Don't think they vibrate away again.

      I think your may have a vibration issue, maybe ignition timing. I have always been impressed with how smooth the engine is. On your CZcams short it also looks like a starting issue, you may have a discrepancy between the security chip in the key and the switch. BTW happy new year
