Using 2k lacquer is dangerous, this is what this video is about, use proper face masks for the purpose. #motorbikes #motoguzzi #painting old guy in shed
This weather is a bugger it's really upsetting our short season let's just hope we are going to get a late summer. Running into October would be nice 🤣
Have you ever had an issue trying to refit the tank after removal? The tank is plastic and prone to expansion due to ethanol in modern petrol. It happened to mine.... Hope yours is ok. Nice job on the laquer👍
I need to do this for my dark grey finished Breva, my tank has swollen and it’s very difficult to get the rear bolt back in. Told the slight micro cracking of paint is because tank has grown but paint has not? Did you do any prep on the surface like fine wet n dry or anything else before spraying? Did you work outside, if yes, did it cause any problems and what mask did you use as I read that 2 pack is really bad to work with. The finish looks great and something like it would smarten my bike. Always enjoy your content so please keep going. Enjoy the wine! Cheers Paul
Ok so a bit to unpack here. I have been told, although never had need to try, that if you empty the tank and remove the filler. Then place the tank in a very warm environment, like an airing cupboard, for quite a long time (a couple of months) it will shrink back. I never use fuel with ethanol so have never had this problem. I don't know if this will improve the paint finish. With mine there was no issue with the paint as such it just needed protecting as whoever had done it in the past had not used a 2k lacquer. As with any base coat and lacquer system you should not use wet and dry before the lacquer. I worked under cover but with the doors open and a large extractor and you will need a suitable mask as 2k is lethal. You local paint supplier will advise on the mask, I can't remember the name of mine but it has replaceable elements and I believe it was about £35.00. hope this helps.
@@oldguyinshed1703 thanks for the information, it helps. The previous owner must have used E10 fuel or maybe someone before that. Like you, I use E5 and it works and stores well in my other bikes, although they all have steel tanks. I like the idea of applying a clear coat myself but have concerns using 2 pack so may consult a pro bike painter in the winter months.
I have been asked this a few times, my reply is always the same, it's the one I am currently riding. I know this sounds like a cop out but I believe that bikes are so different one from another that no one machine can fulfill all of the needs of any rider. So each different bike has a favorite characteristic that I enjoy.
Bugger! I'll have to go and drink some wine! Love it
It's got to be done
Breva looks good in white - nice job!
It is unusual in white and the new lacquer helps
good job looks great
Thank you I'm happy with the results

Amen to that
wish i did this on my v50 because the petrol damaged the paint. fortunately i had a good friend who resprayed it for me.
I had to do this as I was going to lose the paint if I didn't.

No problems at all. I never use E10 and always premium brands. I am pleased with the results of the rattle can.

Do you have a favourite bike that you own?
