Yes, we as Americans are dealing with a real live example of the Cult of Personality............... :)
Great video as always! May I ask? If I wanted to upgrade my stock table saw fence, which one is the way to go?
Excellent video and setup. Thanks for sharing!!
This video comes in at a perfect time for me, just picked up a second Unisaw, one for rips/crosscuts, one for dado stack. Contemplating a router lift in the extension table bridging the two. Great video as always!
damn... that's a sweet rig. I have a General 350R and I would love to add the Excaliber slider but I just don't have the room, thus my track saw.
Cutting a hole in a vintage Unisaw's cabinet is kinda like declawing a cat. I wouldn't do it, but if you were to adopt a cat that had been declawed I wouldn't complain.
Good way to put it 😂
I love getting a glimpse into your though processes and you ingenuity in solving problems in such simple and well thought out ways. Way to go!
Thanks Mike for all your “pro tips “ and clear explanations! Your “word-smithing” is awesome!!
Very welcome
Mike, I love your set up. So freaking cool. When I do large items that need to be cainer like this, I like to shoot a laser level across the room, then take two pieces of plywood and make an upside down tea where I strike a line where the laser is at the highest point. Then I can just place the block anywhere I need and I can get everything leveled up. Now it’s time to go turn that song on.
interesting tip, thank you.
These are some great tune-up tips. I will need to use these on my Delta Unisaw as well. I worked in a shop where we had a 12-inch unisaw, but we had a Delta that was built back in the 50s, and it still ran like new
Thank you.
Great set up Mike, and an awesome song suggestions. Have a good one.
Thanks, you too!
Great content, non-vomitous! If I had dust collection AND a massive Board Room, I'd do something similar. For my 2.5-car garage/shop, I'd have to set my saws back to back... which would prevent me from giving into the temptation to saw something with BOTH saws at the same time. Also, the childish tray is a stellar idea, tbh. I love your tool/equipment content as much as your builds - I'd suggest a video on maintenance for compressors, nail guns, and the associated equipment because a pin nailer is one of those things that you wonder just how you functioned without one.
Thank you. Great input.
That was fire!! My CDO is very impressed. (Yes, CDO is more better organized accurately when listed alphabetically...) ;) :D
Ha! Love that.
Hmm, realizing my mistake, 3 of hearts are good alternatives
Good catch.
Very nice, but I'd rather use a queen of Diamonds as a shim instead of a 2 of hearts (@13:11)
Ha!
Whoda thought?? What a brilliant idea Mike. You are much more than just a woodworker. Art from Ohio
Thank you.
Always love a Farrington shop build! 🎉
Thank you.
GREAT video with tips. Great for anyone with a cabinet level saw. I have a similar setup. I first started using the Excalibur sliding attachment maybe 25 years ago. I had it attached to a PM 66 for years, then added a Uni to it. But a couple years ago I replaced the 66 with an older Oliver (quite a bit heavier saw, running a 14" blade) I did most of the adjustments that you made, (though not the dust collection as the Oliver base is all cast iron and does have a decent dust port, but still table saws are not the best for dust collection) but I didn't adjust the table with the blade at a 45! That is pretty good tip there. I'm now going to play with that. thanks.
Thank you. That 45 adjustment will really help with bevels.
❤
Thank you.
Actually showing that bevel alignment. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
Thank you.
6" dust collection fittings instead of 4"? Well look at fancy pants rich McGee over here
Fuck me, adding a sliding table saw attachment to your double-wide table saws to see if they can replace your dedicated sliding table saw? Michael...
But then you won't buy a 13 mm drill bit and will wallow out a hole with 1/2" instead??
Thank you for the comments.
As someone restoring and upgrading a 1980s Unisaw, your first video with that saw was SUPER helpful. This one makes me want to spend more money though. lol Thanks for all the work Mike! It’s helpful too!
Thank you, but it's money well spent.
Neon lights…
Love it!
Living Color!
Underrated band in my opinion.
I wish I had a neighbor, co-worker, relative,etc. with your tool intelligence and skill.😊
Thank you.
I saw the caption and wondered, "How did he become the Colossus of Clout?!"🙄 Then I saw he had two full power table saws on one continuous Unifence rail!!😳 Men will avert their gaze when the Colossus walks into the locker room...🫣
My kids and I have been watching The Sandlot. That reference was a callback to that movie. Plus it sounds funny.
Glad to see another unifence advocate. I sought one out and would never change. Awesome setup!
Thank you. They are great for sure.
Cult Of Personality is a tour de force. Every member of Living Colour is a tremendous musician-Calhoun, Skillings, Glover and Reid. Part of the timelessness of the song is the nearly absurdly long guitar solo that spans the history of rock and roll in about a minute and innumerable finger adjustments. Of course lyrically it will always remain relevant. Great video, gotta go now and listen to Vivid again!
Thank you. That is one of those songs with so many layers. totally awesome.
I always thought you were the sultan of swat.
Ha! Maybe I'm that too.
I knew you could do it Mike !! Happy 4th
Thank you.
Gotta be honest, that slider addon looks terrible to use, if I was you I would have looked for a smaller panel saw, I found a 1994 SCM (1.6m cut capacity) for cheap and works oh so well and takes very little space in comparison to say your large panel saw
Thank you. I have used an SCMI si12 with a 5 foot slider. Yes, totally great saw, but not what I was going for here. So far I have enjoyed using this attachment.
I used neoprene tape, silicone, red sheathing tape and magnet sheets to completely seal up my cheap Ridgid saw, it gets surprisingly good dust collection with just a shop vac and a 4" to 2" adapter.
Neoprene tape sounds fun. I bet I could put some of that to use. Good idea.
Such a neat setup!
Thank you.
Living Colour was the opening act for the Stones at the Oakland Coliseum in 1989 during the Steel Wheels tour. I wasn't too impressed with LC (yes, I'm a Boomer) but Carlos Santana made an unannounced appearance and played a few songs which was very cool.
Music is personal. While I love that song and band, I totally realize why someone would not like them. Carlos is awesome too though.
I just stumbled across a Rockwell Unisaw on FB Market Place for $400. I don't need another table saw, but looks like it could be a fun project. I just wish I had the space and time.
They are fun projects for sure.
Great song recommendation, that song played everyday on the radio in the machine shop. I worked at in high school that 45° alignment. If that is out, could that be why anytime I have cut a 45° bevel it has never been accurate? I use a Beall tilt box. Note, not a pro, total amateur.
There are lots of reasons for a saw to not cut great. That could fix your problem, at a minimum it will eliminate a variable.
“Saw Island” 😁👍🏻. Thx for the video Mike!
Thanks for watching!
I vomited only once, but I still enjoyed the vid. sknahT!
Send me your cleaning bill... Thats on me.
I thought Excalibur was long out of business. Is your slider new old stock?
Yes, This was a back of the garage find, still new in box. This thing is probably 15 years old, maybe more.
Totally jealous...since moving to my current location, I'm not able to fit my excalibur siding table in my small home shop. I'd pay big money to be able to quickly attach and detach the slider without having to do complex setups.
That is a bummer. I would think in your situation a Norm style sled would be the best bet. You could hang it on the wall and it would take up little space.
Mike your $75 garage sale is actually by far the most expensive miter saw in the market since 30 years ago. The brand new one 14” not the 12” you have is costing about $7000. It’s the most accurate miter saw money could buy now😂. I believe you know already how to tone it, if not please let me know, I have one also. I wish you well make a video about this stationary Miter saw, and why it’s a must in serious cabinet shops.
Yup, that may be the best deal I have ever gotten on a tool.
Great job. I just finished up my unisaw tuneup and I don't want to think about leveling and aligning 2 saws but it seems like your method was pretty straightforward. I got introduced to cult of personality playing grand theft auto. Great song!
It didn't take too long to level the two saws. So far it's been worth the effort.
Great video coupled with great humor, Mike. A wining combination. Bill
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the song pick, a sly and very apt comment for our times. Rock on Brother.
Thank you very much.
Big big fan. Thank you for continuing to create more content!
My pleasure!
Mike, do you need to bolt the legs of the slider attachment down or could you use some adhesive?
Adhesive could work if it was strong enough.
I’m always excited when I see a new Mike Farrington video drop! Great vid as always! Your 66 and the Uni set up looks fornicating amazing!!! I went from a Uni fence on my Delta contractor saw to the Powermatic version of the Biesemeyer on my 66 and actually still miss it occasionally!
Both fences have their strong points for sure.
Mike Farrington: The Sultan of Saws 😅
Haha! Thank you. I like that one.
3 table saws could lead to some great economy of production. I'm a tad jelly, with only a dewalt contractor saw to work with. When can I come over and build stuff? (Asked from Alberta. ;-) )
Ha! That would be quite the drive.
@@MikeFarrington it wouldn't be a spur of the moment trip, that's for sure...
Hi. Less your hinge choice and paint, how many hours for the doors alone. I have to build four similar, in only seven days. On an island. Really.
4 in 7 days would be doable for sure.
