Your narration remains the best in the business and your work’s pretty good too! Awesome stuff, Mike.
Thank you very much.
Coming from a fellow carpenter/home improver… I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your sense of humor, really refreshing and keep up the good work!!
Wow, thank you!
Sweet!!! Thanks for having us over.
Thanks for coming
This explains your brief absence from the Tubes. Great video as always.
Yeah, its been a nightmare. If I had more time, I could have made a bunch of random, how to fix your broken house videos.
As a father, the setup to your Scarface joke was just...*chef's kiss*
Ha! Thank you.
Mike, nice to have you back on the Tube. Place is looking great!
Thank you.
Nice work. Really looking forward to you making a door. Doors and work benches are my favorite builds…am I the only one?
Yup, that will be a really nice build.
It's always interesting to discover the "pro shortcuts" in your house, amirite? Love how you overcame all that, and did it the correct way. And, as previous commenters noted - your kids are getting big, dude. Pretty soon the term, "shop apprentice," isn't really going to be a cute joke... but what a skill to learn from your dad.
Thank you very much. The kiddos are growing up faster than I can keep up with.
As usual Mike, great work and supporting voice over that has everyone locked in. All the best from "down under"
Thank you very much.
I'll take rain over smoke and dust/ash any day (cheers from smokey NJ)!!! Great post (and project) as per your usual kind sir!
A little rain is always welcomed. Makes everything nice and green.
Always enjoy your videos...and narration. I put a linseed oil finish on new cedar sided house 35 years ago. Within a year it was covered in black mold specks (humid SE PA). A little research revealed that linseed oil can feed mold/mildew. Consequently, I scrubbed the entire 2 story house, bleached it, rinsed it, and re-stained it with non-linseed oil containing finish. I sincerely hope the dry Colorado air prevents that problem. Looking forward to the next home improvement video.
Its too cold and dry here, but if it does happen, I will make a video showing the scrubbing/refinishing process.
I think that may be the first time in history that a bridge city plane was used in simple post construction😆
Crackin job
Thank you. That is not a Bridge City plane. It's a Rali plane.
@@MikeFarrington im gonna pretend I didn’t read that so I don’t look up their website & spend money I don’t have
@@scottspropertyservices6877 Ha!
Love those Cedar posts there. So glad you didn't paint them. It won't be long before the apprentice is taller than you..
Thanks for the great vid. More please!
Thank you. He is growing up quick.
Beautiful work as always. You're right about the cordless nail guns. They're pricey, but being able to work without an air compressor is worth every penny.
I'll make the switch at some point.
@@MikeFarrington I think that the main driver is this: are you a shop guy or a job site guy? Job site guys will reap more rewards faster when going cordless. But for us guys who do the bulk of their work in the shop, a hose isn't a big deal. Of course, if you are starting from nothing, go cordless.
@@idontthinkso666 Thats a good way to look at it for sure.
And still: One of the most underrated CZcams channels
Thank you very much.
Welcome to cloud shots with Mike 😀 another great video, thanks for sharing
Maybe I'm weird, but I like watching clouds sped up 20000 percent.
@@MikeFarrington they are enjoyable
"Interesting work. . . " You, sir, are the soul of discretion. ^_^
Thank you kindly
Outstanding precision. Pleasure to watch. With envy.
Thank you.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos and what a beautiful home you have
Thank you so much!
Toss a dimmer switch on those can lights if you haven’t already. Great video Mike. Thank you.
Good tip. I may do that, but the 4 4" cans seem to be just about right.
“Couples Skate Only” nice touch. Haven’t thought of that in decades. Thanks for sharing, loved it.
Ha! Thank you.
Mike I do finish Carpentry in Nor Cal & I see you are just talented in this specialized area! Not many guys mill their own crown! I see that porch as now ppl will want it in your area! Another little job that we enjoy doing! I also use my Stabila laser w/plumb dots it’s a fairly inexpensive tool that I set shelf & cabinets with!
Anyway thank you Mike!
Very cool! Thank you.
Mike…. I can’t stress how much I appreciate the work and video content you do for us. I’m so sorry for what happened to your house. Knowing you, your house is in good hands. Thanks for everything you do
I appreciate that
Best suggestion...."Take small passes on the cove cuts". My impatience was not a positive when I ran mine. The entry of your house looked great after the updates.
Thank you very much.
Washed the "builder grade" right off the front porch. Nice work. "Interesting work" is a good way to describe that slop.
Thank you. That was the goal, a subtle, but custom looking touch.
Love your videos and commentary. Very professional. I learn a lot with every installation you make. As there is a little version of myself that spends too much time on video games, I'm hoping to develop small projects to get them involved in building stuff as well.
Thank you. I hear you about the video games, I'm working on that too.
Love your videos Mike! True professional and the love you have for it makes me want to get back into wood working. Only problem is the cost these days are ridiculous! But it’s nice that I can live through your work lol. Great job as always.
Yeah, prices lately have been a real bummer.
Your shaper set up is solid
Thank you. That is a very nice tool.
I want a complete house built by Mike Farrington, personally. Just imagine how exquisitely constructed it would be.
Ha! You and me both.
new mike farrington video? I'm going to get a stiff drink and watch this 2 or 3 times
Nice!
Awesome work, can't wait to see you build the door if you decide to
That's the plan! I am in the final stages of planning.
Your videos are always a treat! Thank you.
Thank you.
All always Mike, great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice work Mike. As for the house, it must be a D.R. Horton build.
Ha! It was a custom build, from 92. Very sloppy to be sure.
Nice job on the entry remodel Mike! Turned out very nice :) Thanks for always sharing with us!💖😎👍JP
Thanks 👍
@@MikeFarrington Your very welcome Mike! Have a wonderful weekend!😎
Been away from the wood side of the CZcams algos for a bit. Def enjoy your vids.
Thank you.
Superb work as always and superb video editting. Blurring out the love handles... nice lol!
😁
So much good stuff in this one. And a wonderful result, too.
I love using my plumb Bob...too bad there are really so few times I've needed it.
The boss I aim to please has never shown any interest in crown moldings, so I've never had reason to learn that very cool trick with the table saw. Which is probably a good thing, 'cuz I have a really hard time figuring out 3D things in my head.
It also works great for little moldings for furniture. So just keep it in your back pocket.
Love the White Castle t-shirt!
Ha! Thank you.
The natural root is like the cherry on top of the cake towards your homes entrance. Hope you and your family enjoys it for a long time.
Yes! Thank you!
excellent job... glad to see you back here... always too long a wait! ;-)
Thank you.
I assume that your videos are very didactic for DIY carpenters. I watch some channels because I enjoy watching them, but few, if any, have such a humorous voice-over. You must be a very fun guy. As for the renovation, WOW... FANTASTIC work, excellent from an aesthetic point of view. I'm curious to see the rest as we got a glimpse of Back to the Future :)
Thank you. I try my best to keep things funny and interesting. Happy to hear you liked it.
Your kids are getting big.
They are growing up fast for sure.
Excellent weather video😂
Glad you enjoyed it
Couples only skate! Hilarious.
Thank you.
Great upgrading, Mike.
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing Mike!
I had to replace two posts similar to these recently (dry rot) and did very similar for the base skirts as yourself - but much less best, professional and well narrated
Thank you.
Nice looking house and as usual, great work...
Thank you.
Yay new Farrington vid 👍🏼
Thank you.
Nice to see u after long time mike
Thank you. Its good to be back.
Love the Felder shaper! I have a similar powerfeed on my Harvey shaper. It's a beast!
That is a really nice power feeder. I have had a few over the years, and I have always been let down by the mounts. This one, the mount is super solid.
I come to this channel for the dad jokes and commentary…the woodworking is pretty good too! What a transformation!
Ha! Thank you.
Mike, you're the kind of guy I could grab a beer with. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you. If you're ever in Denver, the first ones on me.
Really nice job mate and as always love your humour
Thank you.
Mike, great workmanship and videos. So nice to see the kids grow also.
My sincere appreciation!
Thank you.
Nice job, Mike. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice as always! Thank you for posting.
Thank you. My pleasure.
Damn, you are talented. Nice work! Super high end work
Thank you.
Beautiful work as always! Good job brother!
Thank you! Cheers!
Stunning job! Great skills. Thank you so much for the video❤
Thank you.
woohoo! i've been waiting for these videos since i first saw the remodel on instagram
Thank you very much.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
like how you made the crown on the table saw that was awesome!!!
Thank you very much!
Fantastic update/upgrade!
Thanks!
Such an amazing outcome
Thank you.
I’m looking forward to you review video in June of 2043. I set a reminder!
Haha! Stay tuned.
Pretty nice? It looks fantastic! Informative and entertaining as usual.
Thank you! Cheers!
so excited for the follow up video on titebond III in 20 years...
Yeah, subscribe for that forthcoming video.
Looks great, Mike. I did a similar treatment on the 2 verandas I built on the front of my house, one for the main entry and the other off the theatre room. They are pretty large at 22' wide x 12' deep, so I vaulted the ceilings to give more volume to the new outdoor spaces. Did the shiplap cedar ceilings and they look awesome. Even did the pot lights (2 on each slope) much like you have done, only I added a large hanging light to the middle of each . My wife is a huge fan of Pottery Barn! Ugh. The cedar really warms up the looks. I like that you got rid of the stone. It gets pretty dated, pretty quickly.
Sounds like we have similar taste. I thought about vaulting this area, but the framing was so sloppy I didn't want to make the effort.
@@MikeFarrington Also, often, vaulting a small area can be too busy. I think you did it just right, with nice details to catch the discerning eye.
@@robthewaywardwoodworker9956 Yeah, I think you are right. Nothing more ugly than try to put too much into too small of an area.
Your work and attention to detail with perfection in mind is ok 👍🏽 but I follow you for the humor 😆
(Jk) Turned out amazing 👍🏽
Ha! Thank you.
your craftmanship is second to none…🥰🥰👍
Thank you.
Looks great, Mike. It's good to have help like that, too. Epoxy in the anchor bolt holes also helps keep water out that could freeze and crack the concrete.
Bill
That is a good point. Yeah anywhere water can't pool, means it can't freeze there.
You did a beautiful job! Love how the house turned out. It sure changed the looks which is fun because it's like getting a new house. Can't believe how much the shop apprentice has grown! Looks like he's going to follow in your footsteps which has to be a great feeling.
Thanks so much! 😊
Beautiful and outstanding job, Mike. I’m always impressed of such an organized work you always perform. Even the smallest detail that shows the experience such as when you’re unthreading the nut to avoid thread damage when driving ankers into the concrete.
Great job and thanks for sharing content 🙏👍💪
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the insightful ideas and keep up the good work. I have a deck ceiling (patio) and posts to wrap.
Good stuff. I'm going to do the same thing to our deck. In that case I will wrap the posts though.
Great job and great video Mike!
Glad you enjoyed it
More videos PLEASE.
Thank you. Will do.
Great project Mike. Gives the front entry a new look. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you very much.
Missed you great video.
More to come!
12:30 was pretty awesome. Have to remember that one.
Thank you. That is a super neat trick.
You have a beautiful family. As a family man myself, I recognize the love and patience you have for your kids. They're very lucky to have a father that sets such a good example for them.
Thank you very much. I do my best, which is far from perfect, but with parenting, failure is not an option.
First of all, loved the hat you have to protect the pate. What a great project, just beautiful. I hope you and your family enjoy.
I'm bald and sunburn easy and live at 6k feet. I get sunburned getting the mail, heck I get sunburned from the moon. So yeah, the hat is a must. Thank you.
Looks fantastic
Thank you.
That will add some resale value
I hope you are right.
As always top quality work. 🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
Massive improvement! Makes your house look brand new!
Thank you.
As always: I love your narration! The house looks very fresh in its new colour scheme after the upgrade!
Thank you so much!
Really nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks amazing!
Thank you.
very nice! clean looking
Thank you.
Well done
Thank you.
Great detail on the mounting of the ceiling shiplap, always an area that can go astray. Keep up the good work!👍
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for censoring the dad bod. After seeing my own in the mirror the other day I am not mentally prepared to see any more.
Oh, and great job on the entry way.....looks fantastic so far and can't wait to see more.
Thank you. Yeah, too much dad bod is a bad thing for sure.
The little exttra bits set it off just nicely. Could help but notice your oh so sixties two head concrete bit and did a little internal smirk.
If you've never tried them, four head cutters glide through old concrete like butter. They don't bust out the hole top as bad neither.
Good tip. That was a bit I had laying around for some reason. I don't drill concrete often, but next time, I'll look into the upgraded 4 cutter version. Thank you.
Great project.
Thank you! Cheers!
"Yucky"...almost didn't catch that. Thanks for the laugh.
Its funny cause its true.
Beautiful work as always. Your videos are top notch, and I learn something useful in every one. Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Absolutely fantastic video, as always! Really enjoy seeing your process and the great narration!
Thank you.
Amazing stuff. Thanks for sharing
Thank you. My pleasure.
This is a great video -- nice change of pace and a very approachable project!
Thank you. I'll have a few more home improvement project videos out soon.
