In this video I show how I build a monster sized desk for my wife and I. Both of us work from home, so we really needed a desk comfortable for two to work at. I have included lots of detail in this video and I hope you find it informative. I have a companion video of how I made the cabinet door and drawer pulls. Take a look if you are in need.

"A check-up from the neck up because my thinkin was a stinkin." I'm using this solid dad quote this week.
Haha! All the kids will know exactly what you're talking about.
Zig Zigler lives on.
Laughed out loud at the "since my work is perfect, I've never had to use these". Classic!!
Ha! Thank you.
When I hear you say Rebate and not rabbit… it’s so satisfying.
Your narration is so nice; you should start a channel on which you read kids' books aloud. My kids (or me?) would love it.
That is a good idea. Thank you.
"When I was done I was able to use the INCREDIBLE strength of my hands." Your dry humor is just as good as your woodworking sir. 🤣
Ha! Thank you.
This guys is a pretty good craftsman, by the video produced you can tell he pays close attention to details.
Thank you. I try to get the details correct.
Don't mind me over here trying to explain to myself why I NEED a lipping planer now.
Treat yo self
Thank you sir. They are a one trick pony, but really helpful for the one trick. If that makes sense.
Love seeing your methods, Mike. This piece came out great. 👍
Thank you sir. Its fun to be able to share.
Sheesh, talk about craftsmanship. What an amazing piece of work.
Thank you.
@10:36, true Betty Botter bought some butter, But she said the butter’s bitter, “If I put it in my batter
It will make my batter bitter, But a bit of better butter Will make my batter better.” Will Betty Boughter's bitter batter taste better? No because the better butter Betty Bitter bought was peanut butter! But the *MIGHTY* tongue twister that no one to date (that I've asked) have been able to do. Say "Toy Boat or Troy Boat" five times really fast. CAN'T BE DONE!!!
And goodness gracious your attention to detail is SECOND TO NONE! Looks beautiful!
Ha! That was great. Thank you.
You are a benchmark for quality work....
Thank you very much.
“Since all of my work is perfect, I’ve never had to use these” …..I love this guy
Ha! Thank you.
I watch your videos every year or so and am always reminded of an "efficiency" or "tip" that I can apply to my hobby.
Thank you.
almost all attempts at alliteration are awesome
Nice!
HAHA! Good one Scott.
So refreshing to have a channel that doesn’t assume the viewers are first time woodworkers.
Thank you. I just make videos showing what I do, I try not to cater to any audience.
A couple of Zig Ziegler quotes? Wow; he was the man! Beautiful desk, btw.
Not intentionally, I hadn't heard of him until this comment. Thank you.
another solid method of trueing a boards edge is clamping it the sliding table saw and running it threw the blade
Thats a very good point, but in this case the pieces were longer than the stroke of the saw.
So far in all of my years following woodworking on CZcams I have found you and the wood whisperer to have the best and funniest narrations for your videos. Your humor is spot on and gets me every time. Thanks for that.
Wow, thanks!
Double tapper sanding disc brings a smile to my face every time I get to pull it out. What a useful tool!
That is really great to hear. Thank you.
I love it when you talk millimeters!
Ha! Thank you.
YOU ARE ONE OF THE GREATEST CRATSMAN ON YOU TUBE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much.
Mike, I don't know a thing about woodworking really. But your videos are so inspirational. The attention to detail and quality workmanship you put into all your products is second to none. Your passion for woodworking shows in your videos and it is very cool! Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise with us!
Wow, thanks!
Your voiceovers are a work of art, just as much as your furniture builds. Fantastic stuff as always, Mike. 👍🏼
Thank you very much.
Watching you working at first I found myself thinking: "so many nails and glue, where is the joinery?" But that outcome speaks for itself. Your finish is so beautiful. I am so grateful to have found you channel two years ago. So calming and inspiring at the same time. Bless you. Bless you beautiful work!
Thank you very much.
I knew it was high time I bought myself at least a biscuit joiner if not a Domino tool, but I didn't realise that I also needed a lipping planer - or even that they existed - so it can work out expensive following your channel! To be fair, I can think of lots of occasions when a biscuit or Domino joiner would have helped me make a much better job of a project, compared to simply using pocket screws.
Either of the two will really help out for sure.
The amount of Blum products in this video is euphoric!! I honestly think Blum is the only reason I don't detest making cabinets. Excellent craftsmanship as always Mike!
Ha! Thank you. I really don't like mentioning a brand like that all the time, but it is honestly what I use, I'm not getting paid for the mentions. I think with cabinet hardware, its a good idea to pick a brand and stick with it.
The end result is precise, purposeful, and beautiful.
I have never seen such a clean woodworking workshop! Congratulations and good health.
Thank you very much.
Mr. Bond I mean Farrington nice two fer with the Odd Job / Random Task movie quotes.
Ha! Both great movies in their own way.
No one does humor better than you. "I did a check up from the neck up" 😂 it's also turned out beautiful! I like the cherry top and pulls against the color you applied... they go great together! 🤟👍😃
Thank you very much.
No music suggestion? However, you did mention Milli Vanilli. Milli Vanilli was a popular group we all listened to in the hangar when I was in USAF Tech School back in the day. The office cabinets look great. The solid wood counter is my favorite part.
Thank you very much.
Beautiful build as always. Definitely missed your calming tones & subtle embedded humour. Hope you're keeping busy, Safe & Healthy there.
hello john
hoow are you doing
Thanks John. Alls well here.
One day I too will have mighty tools. For the moment they are puny, but I tell my wife that they're mighty and so far she hasn't checked to tell if I'm exaggerating or not.
Ha! Thank you.
Beautiful work as always. Hey man... I do not work for Renner and have no invested interest in this statement. But if you could get your hands on some Renner paint products shipped in to you, it will take your painting to the next level. Chem aqua and shellac primer can work fine obviously, because you've been making it work. But Renner finishes are on another level. Every product that they make is simply just top of the line. Their primer builds and sands the best, with minimal grain raise if you use a dust coat. Their top coat durability and resistance are simply top of the line. They even have some products that are near impossible to run as they are intended for vertical applications, perfect 1 coat stain blocking on their stain blocking primers... Anyways... Check it out if you get a chance. Renner products sprayed out of an airless, in combination with Festool Sanders with surfprep pads have taken our painting time and reduced it by 30% and reduced our painting complications by 95%.
You'll have to get them shipped in from a regional distribution center. But they are worth it.
I'll look them up. Thank you for the suggestion.
Your vision, talent, experience and humor make this a great channel!
Wow, thank you!
I always find it informative and funny at the same time when you share your actual “pro tips” vs the stuff that those diy style channels think are pro tips. The desk turned out beautiful, I love the contrast of the cherry vs the paint color.
Thank you very much.
Yeah, Mike gives actual tips which help!
Great attention to detail, nice job as always! Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others!
Thanks, will do!
Hi Mike, I have been watching and learning from you for a few years now. I probably would not have tought of buying a biscuit joiner if you had not showed it in so many videos. What a useful tool. Your finishing methods are second to none, and your subtle humor makes your videos a pleasure to watch. Cheers from Denmark
Thank you very much. Denmark is beautiful, I was lucky enough to spend a couple days there years ago.
@@MikeFarrington Copenhagen?
@@JesperMakes Yeah, I really thought it was a neat place.

Love it. Great looking dual-desk, and it looks like all that sanding made that top glass-smooth.
Thank you. Yup a little buffing goes a long way.
Some great 'Pro-tips' in this video, with the end result being a terrific desk for the 2 of you. Keep up the great work.
Thank you.
Love your videos, Mike!!! You are super talented in woodworking, but equally so making entertaining videos!

Thank you.
Beautiful work as always and the random alliteration or pun is always appreciated.
Thank you kindly!
Looks like the new saw is in-action... nicely done as usual Mike!
Not yet, that’s still the old one.
Really great tips and tricks! I think if I see the merits of the double taper disc again, I'll have to pull the trigger and order one! Keep the great content coming.
Thank you. Let me know if you have any questions.
well i did learn something new today (retired furniture maker), using the depth guide on the thicknesser to measure off the first cut on stock. i always love no brainer quick set up methods.
Ha! That’s a great trick. My last planet didn’t have that, no I don’t know how I would live without it.
The video is so clear, I really like the color you chose too. Well done as usual.
Thank you very much.
Awesome build Mike. Great pro tips also. You are an inspiration!! Please keep making videos. Thank you
Thanks, will do!

Stylish and practical. Nice.

Another great vid from you Mike. I'm heading back into the shop for the fall/winter and magically the YT algorithm provided me this great selection. I'll be starting small with some kumiko projects based on your tutorials.
Thank you. Good luck. Kumiko is fun.
Great to have you back in tube world. A master cabinet maker.
Thanks Frank.
Mike your work is great and the videos are super smooth👍

Excellent project Mike.
Thank you! Cheers!
Mike, Mike, Mike... The clean lines, the color, the hardware & a super chill video to showcase it all!! It just doesn't get any better!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thanks buddy.
Drawer spacing.....the bane of my existence... love this method and how you give product tips..
Whats cool about this method is you can get the gaps as good as you want. Just depends on how much time you want to invest.
@@MikeFarrington What spacing do you generally try to get? Looks smaller than 1/8"
@@careyhenitiuk8423 I normally cut parts to a 1/16" gap, then sand/fit that takes them to 3/32 normally, but I am ok with 1/8" if thats what happens.
@@MikeFarrington Thanks for the response, and for all the videos and details you give!
Beautiful desk, I love the top. Also, exceptionally witty in this episode, I throughly enjoyed it.
Thank you very much.
Feels great to see you deliver some more content and an excellent product! I’ve been subscribed for 2.5 years now.
Agreed, you can always count on a solid build!

For sure, so much better craftsmanship and quality than the other “home-gamer” style channels.
Thank you very much. That means a lot to me.
Your videos are (slowly) getting funnier over time. :)
Thank you.
Excellent video Mike, your humor gave me a chuckle. 😁👍💚🪵
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks from the UK Mike for cutting rebates as against rabbets, LOL. Great build, nice job.
I like rebate better, we have that wrong over here.
