In this video Modern Bungalow commissioned me to build a wine cabinet. Furniture making is an amazing process, to be able to transform raw materials into a fine piece of woodworking is an honor. Follow along and watch me build this super cool cabinet.

This
That is very kind to say, thank you.
Are you kidding... I rewatch these multiple times.
Might as well thumbs up when this thing is posted because you know its going to be good!
Thank you very much.
@@ohasis8331 Something funny - CZcams just showed me the new functionality to check users profile. I can clearly see that almost all the guys that comment here have the same channels as me in their subscription list. Saying that I do believe that more or less we are all on the same mentality and keeping in fact how good Mike's videos are (in all aspects and not just craftsmanship) the fact that there is no dislikes is ... normal 😁.
The veneer glue up with tape clamp is awesome. Where do I send the extra likes?
Thank you. That is a cool trick for sure.
Another beautiful piece of furniture, Mike. The two things I like most are the idea of graduated thickness web frames and your shop apprentice.
Thank you very much.
This is so well made, with such a precision and craftsmanship that I feel satisfied with myself for just watching it. This speaks a lot about you Mike ... a lot.
Thank you very much.
You are improving me with EVERY build man! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! You are making it possible to provide for my family by gaining wisdom through you with every video! I owe you a lot Sir!
Thank you very much.
Between your great voice and amazing tips you are becoming one of my favorite people to watch. Thank you very much for putting out amazing content!
Thank you very much.
This is still one of my favorites that you have created. This particular piece while very different reminds me of a small, freestanding cupboard that my Grandmother had when I was knee high to a grasshopper. Thank you for the content you produce for us. Truly inspirational.
Thank you very much.
The end result is incredible. Absolutely stunning.
Thank you very much.
nice to see arts and craft style furniture still being made, probably my favourite style of furniture, looks amazing.
Thank you. I think the arts and crafts style is timeless.
@@MikeFarrington I love you work. I Am a young joiner on the island Antigua, and I love the consistency of the quality of work you produce... and your explanations are clear and understanding..
I always look forward for your videos.
Hope you and your family are doing good in this time of the pandemic..
+Tyreman Woodworks
There is no such thing as Arts and Craft style he is just producing Arts and Crafts. There are styles within Arts and Craft such as Greene and Greene.
Traditional carpentry/joinery is Arts and Crafts or I suppose we could just call it crafts. If you are a small independent maker then you more than likely are Arts and Crafts.
The Arts and Craft movement which started a revival is what confuses people.
Beautiful work! The great thing about Mike's furniture is that he created functional art that most likely will be around for centuries later!
Thank you very much. I hope you are right.
Made with love and accuracy. Just beautiful!
Thank you.
Pleasure to watch you making furniture...peaked on line and found out it’s priced according to your high quality work! Thank you for sharing...
Thank you.
$4500. Holy hell.
That is beautiful. Thanks for sharing the build! One of my favorite shops to visit
Thank you very much.
Kind of nice that the buyer will be able to watch a video of their new furniture being made. Nice project.
Thats all part of this experiment. I think they are going to have a way to watch the video in store.
I would never have thought about keeping the curved cut out for clamping purposes.
Brilliant advice. This will makes things so much easier for projects in future.
Thank you. That is a neat trick.
The details show the diligence, well done Mike!!
Thanks Cory.
Not to overstate the obvious, but you are a master. It's an honor to watch you work!
Thank you very much.
So hyped when a new one drops. Always make it look so easy and inspires me to go build!
Thank you. Go build something!
What a beautiful piece! Mike, you do such amazing work. I love that you share the builds of things that you are doing for actual customers. I’ve been in the trades, mostly in residential construction, most of the 48 working years of my life, mostly in high-end luxury homes. It is easy for me to spot someone who truly knows what they are doing and does top quality work. You, sir are up there with the best.
I love watching your work and I hope some day I get to meet you in person and shake your hand. Thanks for your time in posting these videos.
Thank you very much for the kind words, especially coming from a fellow pro.
Thanks for taking the time to still make videos for us man, this stuff is great.
Thank you, my pleasure.
Beautiful work Mike. The Arts & Crafts style is just timeless.
Thank you. I am a fan of the Arts and Crafts style as well.
So many helpful hints along the way. Im so very appreciative of these Mike.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience
It is a stunning piece.
Thank you very much.
Really love your handmade woodworking projects. Its awesome and inspiring. Thanks Mike !
2:20. Dude Perfect Mike Farrington edition!!!
Ha! Thank you.
When Mike puts out a video I watch it from start to finish. No skipping ever.
Top notch as always
Thanks Joe.
I've watched this 5 times now, every time I am fascinated. I want to build this so bad
Thank you. It was a fun build.
What a joy it is to just sit back and watch a master craftsman work his magic, all the time making it look like a second grader could do it. Thank you for that Mike.
Thank you for the kind words.
Wow, subscribed. I learned more in 20 minutes than I've done in the past year of watching CZcams videos of furniture making, I think. Haha. Looks great!
Thank you very much. Great to have you onboard.
@@MikeFarrington I just started wood working about a year ago. I've been doing random refinishings for about two years tho. I'm starting to get more and more into designing my own. So far I've made a bench, an entertainment center, a sofa table and a computer desk. Working on a wood plant stand right now.
I'm gonna check out the Japanese lantern. Been wanting to make one of those. Maybe even something on a slightly larger scale. I love woodworking. The possibilities are pretty much endless.
@@Snakeplisskin440 Sounds like you are off to a good start. Keep at it.
So nice to see some real woodworking in a real woodshop, CZcams is so full of hacks doing hack work in their garages, using information they learned from other hacks on CZcams doing hack work.
Thank you! This comment made my laugh out loud.
I think you are one of the most precise and conscientious craftsman I've ever seen. I'm gonna keep my biscuit joiner in my desk drawer so I can play along at home.
Ha! Thank you.
Beautiful! Simply the best!
Thank you.
Mike Farrington uploads video:
1. Stop everything
2. Grab a beer
3.go to your biggest tv in house
4. watch it
Ha! Nice, I like it.
100%
Same, but swap beer for coffee cause it's 6:30am :D
@@mkushin Yeah, 6:30am, its better to be safe and stick with coffee for at least a couple more hours.
Wait, what's wrong with beer at 6:30am... ;-)
3:35 - That's going to be the new tag line for my business: "The Suck is Even Distributed Across the Work Piece".
Haha!
Our daughter is a physics teacher and the family isn’t allowed to use the word “suck or suction.” We are to use “negative pressure differential.”
@@Maker_of_fine_sawdust I like that one too. I'll try to work it into a video.
@@Maker_of_fine_sawdustThat sucks.
Quite a thing of beauty, Mike. Thanks for sharing another project!
Thank you. My Pleasure.
Mike, I've recently become mildly addicted to woodworking. You're my drug of choice. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It may not seem quite so obvious right now, but someday in the not-so-distant future the "Shop Apprentice" will be pulling out of the driveway to make a life of his own. You will appreciate documenting your time with him all the more.
Cheers,
Don
Thank you. He is growing so fast it makes my head spin.
"....to make sure that my glue up is as square as the state of Colorado." That made me laugh out load. Beautiful finished product once again.
Ha! Thank you.
Hey Mike, just found your channel, I'm a hop skip and a jump away in Centennial, keep up the great work. I'm buying a house with a shop and hope to get back into carpentry soon, I'm learning a lot, thank you!
-Ben
Thank you. Good luck with your new house and shop!
That boy of yours is growing up fast, I really enjoy watching a true craftsman work. Good job.
Thank you very much. He is growing so fast.
Thanks Mike, you are truly inspirational and a real craftsman.
Thank you very much Dev.
Very nice cabinet, very useful! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, my pleasure.
Fantastic!!!!do videos more often please, they are too far apart,Cheers from Toronto Canada!!
Thank you, I'll try.
Modern furniture making at its finest. Congratulations, very well done.
Thank you very much.
The Bob Ross of woodworking
Thank you. I love that guy.
Hey, Mike, nice design and good craftsmanship as always!
I have a question regarding your finishing: I saw you using water-soluable dye, followed by an oil-based wiping stain... but no protective topcoat. Did I somehow miss that?
I edited that out. I was in a hurry to get that part done. I used a catalyzed lacquer.
I am bald and shave my head, I have a beard, I am within a few years of Mike's age, I know all of Mike's music recommendations immediately.
Why oh why do I not have Mike's woodworking skills?
Spencer Orr How old is Mike, you reckon..? 🤔
Olm9 mid-late ish 30's. In his tube sock table project video he speaks about being a teenager wearing flannel with his friends listening to "Daughter" by Pearl Jam. Obvious a reference to being a teenager in the 90's.
Just a rough guess. Maybe he didn't mean for it to betray a specific age. But I always pay attention to his narrations and have seen most of his videos multiple times each.
Top CZcams woodworking channel. Quality craftsmanship, quality camera work, quality, narration, quality shop, quality human being. Always happy to see his family enjoying his company as a father. Reminds me of simpler times with my own children.
Spencer you have good taste in music. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for watching my videos. You are close on my age. I turn forty in 2020. I have been balding and shaving my head for about 20 years. The dark years were the ones where I couldn't grow hair or a beard. That just didn't seem fair.
The finish is what makes this piece stand out. Kudos for multi-layering the stain and adding the oil stain.
Thank you.
I love this piece! It inspired me to get my butt back in the shop. Thanks Mike
Thank you, thats great to hear.
The way he talks about his process is exactly the way christian bale talks about his morning routine in American psycho
I get that a lot. Its not on purpose, but I do agree I sound like him for some reason.
@@MikeFarrington Oh I'm sure you get Compared to Christian Bale all the time. Seriously: I can't tell you apart.
@@MrTrylobite Ha! All too often.
jo-mom-etry -- I like it.
Ha! I was wondering who would pick up on that.
Gorgeous piece, Mike! Thanks for sharing your craft with us.
Thank you.
Bravo Mike !!! Another EXCELLENT piece of timeless furniture. You are the BEST !!!!
Thank you.
$4500 ;) This is why Mike can't afford to furnish his own home with his own pieces. Another stunning build!
is that the price it is listed for?
@@zachjohnson41 If so..... uuuhhhhhh, no thanks
@@zachjohnson41 Yes.
Seems entirely reasonable for a one-of-a-kind, hand made piece. The store is going to keep about a third, I suspect. Mike has materials costs and overhead (all those tools and shop have to be amortized). That looks like it was perhaps a week of work if not more.
@@michaelzdanis3979 All true, no arguments from me. But like I said, if you watch some old videos he has Ikea in his own home.
A fantastic project for all woodworking and cabinet-makers to learn from a true master.
Thank you Frank.
Beautiful!
Beautiful!!
So pumped to watch this
Thank you Kyle.
I watch your videos and think, He makes that look so easy! I need to spend a week in your shop just learning!
Thank you.
I love the way that when professionals assemble everything goes together perfectly!
Thank you. It wasn't always that way.
@@MikeFarrington What do you do when you measure the diagonals and they're not the same?
@@RyanLovettInSpace Easy, put a clamp on the diagonal that is long, put some pressure until the diagonals measure equal.
This is a piece of art! Appreciate you sharing it with fellow woodworkers...
Thank you.
Stunning!!
Thank you.
Thanks Mike!
Thanks John.
Zeta p 2, Maffel Duo and Festool Domino. The ultimate three. Respect ✊
Thank you. Unfortunately, its not the zeta, its just the Top 20 biscuit joiner.
Mr. Farrington- thank you for a valuably informative and simultaneously thoroughly enjoyable video. I dig your humor, and admire your skills. Excellent work, in all regards.
Thank you very much.
Nextly, I've been impatiently waiting for a new Mike Farrington video. Thanks and super job on the wine cabinet.
Ha! Thank you. I hope I will crank out more videos in 2020.
Gorgeous piece! As always, your work is truly an inspiration to woodworkers everywhere...
Thank you very much.
Such a beutiful and sturby project.Mahogany is a beauty !!!
Thank you.
Amazing piece Mike. Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship!
Thanks Paul. My pleasure.
Nice recovery from the mistake. I watched the whole thing, but it is way beyond my abilities or the tools that I own. I'll never have to build a door either, but it is fun watching someone who knows what he's doing around wood.
Thank you.
Best MR Farrington video yet? I genuinely think so.
Thank you very much Matt.
I find that one thing all *GREAT* YT'ers have in common are a) knowledge b) craftsmanship c) PASSION d) presentation skill. (in that order). You have incredible way of telling a story that pulls the user in. And your passion and skill comes through in spades. Without sounding condescending, without sounding like you're flexing. Just quality content with quality voice over that explains what and why you're doing the things in your build. What a gem!
Thank you for the very kind words.
As always, great work Mike.
I appreciate that
Great work...beautiful result. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Jeff.
Elegant simple eye catching design Mike, very impressive as always. I really like the idea of a storefront commissioning out work from local artists and builders, what a fantastic way for the average to stellar maker to get their creations out there to be seen, purchased and loved.
Thank you. I hope this arrangement works out. Modern Bungalow has been great to work with and it would be fun to try another project.
Gorgeous piece, Mike!!! Great lines and proportion...and flawlessly executed!
Thank you.
You do such beautiful work and this piece was no exception!!! I'm also amazed at how fast your shop helper is growing with each video. I hope your passion for woodworking rubs off on him so he wants to follow in your footsteps.
Thank you very much. I will show him all the skills I have if he wants to learn.
I never cease to be amazed by the size of your shop [warehouse!]. I reckon my entire shop is the space that your sliding table saw takes up. I could get lost in your shop. Great video.
Thank you.
Everyone said this already, buy you are epic! I might be able to build that, given the same tools / facility, but your finishing is expert! That is a beautiful piece.
Thank you.
Style definitely achieved!
Thank you.
Great video as usual, it's cool to see how the shop apprentice has evolved to be able to put the panel lift through it's paces
Thank you. He is really growing quickly.
Beautiful work, Mike. Thank you.
Thank you.
Biscuits AND Dominos AND Dowels - you kept EVERYONE happy!
Wee!
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!! More furniture builds Mike please !!!!!
Thank you. I was just sketching out another piece I plan to build in the fall. Stay tuned.
Blind nails for marking pilot hole locations is genius. I guess you could probably drive in a finishing nail, then clip the top off with enough room to get a bite with pliers to pull em out after you're done. The poor man's blind nail haha
Thank you, that would work.
Beautiful piece of artwork!
Thank you.
If I had 10 thumbs? I would raise it all to you Mike! This is wood working at it's best! So arousing just to watch 😅
Wow, thanks!
did I just see an American woodworker using a European style panel saw with a sliding table? Great work, the tips throughout the video reveal your professionalism
Thank you. Yes, that is a euro slider.
Your videography is fabulous. Lighting, angles, focus, all so precise. Also, thank god for a project that calls for revealing the grain and not painting it!
Thank you very much. Painting grain is in such demand these days, its nice to do something else for sure.
Fantastic, well done!!!
Many thanks!
It's beautiful!
Thank you.
I love that you aren't afraid to show using biscuit joints where they make good sense from a time, cost and performance point of view. "Domino fever" seems to have made many woodworkers ashamed of the biscuit joiner :).
Thank you.
Beautiful work Mike!!!
Thanks Andy.
That's a beautiful cabinet. Congrats
Thank you!
Opened the video, liked it then watch it then went to hit the like button again then realised it was a Mike’s video and they are always good.
Thank you very much.
Another beautiful job Mike
Thanks Tom.
Come for the woodworking, stay for the in-video commentary. Brilliant!
Thank you Josh.
Beautiful project!
Thanks Allen.
As a moderately successful woodworker I got to say this is a really nice build. I even picked up a few tricks along the way.
I wish I had the room in my shop to have inherited my fathers re-saw band saw, but it was just to much for the garage space I have.
Thank you. Really appreciate your videos.
My pleasure.
Incredible.
Thank you.
