Thanks for subscribing to NQ Explorers. We are based in Queensland, Australia but travel extensively across the country exploring abandoned towns and fossicking for gold, gemstones and historic relics. We post a new video every two weeks (give or take a fortnight).
We are both ex Royal Australian Air Force (1977-1991) and have always enjoyed adventuring and exploring those out of the way locations.
Happy Fossicking! Colleen and Warren.
We drive a Land Rover Defender and use Garrett Metal Detectors in our search for gold and treasure.

The Ruins of Aberdare South Colliery & No. 3 Railway Tunnel.
This is a 'walk and talk' bush exploration to the ruins of the Aberdare South Colliery, Abernethy N.S.W. It has been over 40 years since our last visit here and as we have always had a fascination for industrial ruins and abandoned railways, it was about time for a return trip. After exploring the ruins of the winding house and chimney we head over to the overgrown but beautifully preserved No.3 Tunnel on the long-abandoned Richmond Vale Railway. We hope you enjoy this bushwalk and exploration - Happy Fossicking! Warren.

A beautiful rough nugget shed not far from an exposed reef on a hillside in Central Victoria. The nugget was lying in a quartz gravel layer in a highly mineralised soil matrix and weighed in at just over 0.6gm. Happy Fossicking! Warren and Phil nqexplorers.com/ theprospectorsdepot.com.au/

This is our second sortie to a rural one-room schoolhouse that was established in the late 19th Century. We pick up a nice run of predecimals - it's another solo trip but we will definitely have Colleen in there on the next sortie (promise)! Happy Fossicking! Warren and Colleen. nqexplorers.com/
Metal Detecting 1870s Mining Camp: Garrett AT Max.
zhlédnutí 4,2KPřed 2 měsíci
In this video we explore and detect the remnants of an ephemeral 1870s mining camp, occupied by both Chinese and Western miners. They were a hardy bunch living and working in these extremely remote conditions in an unforgiving climate. We pick up a few nice relics such as Chinese Cash Coins, and personal items left behind by the miners. We hope you enjoy this remote bush adventure - thanks for ...

You like the axiom? I really like mine i mainly use the 11 dd fc coil, can hit small small pieces of gold. Best luck to you and greetings from the gold feilds of California USA
👍🏻 beauty mate
Was the deepest Shaft in the southern hemisphere in it's time
It's incredible
My great grandfather worked here after he came back from WW1, used to grade and weigh the coal coming out of the mine. My Grandad, wrote a book about this mine and the settlement around Abernethy during those days. It’s called - “they called it Siberia” by Neville Robinson. Cheers for the interesting vid.
Nice to hear from a direct descendent, Josh; your Grandad would have been one tough old bloke. ⚒
great video thanks for sharing. subscribed
Thanks for this video. I was there about 12-18 months ago photographing the ruins, tunnels, and old trestle bridge and it looks like all the rain we've had in the last 12 months or so haven't done the track any favours. There were quite a few snakes around too.
You can just about taste the hundred year old, blood, sweat and tears in that place, hey Tim!!!
i live around that area and have watched your videos for a long time now wish i had the chance to catch up for a chat on the area
Not that anyone would want a residence a this location. However Imagine the house you could turn that building into. Like the show in England where people make houses of old water towers and generator buidings etc.
Never knew you were a Newcastle boy, Warren.
What a rush. You know of the best places to revisit !
No vortex videos yet ?
Vortex videos will be up in the next few weeks - Cheers! Warren.
You're not worried about snakes in those high weeds? You weren't wearing snake protection.
Thank you for the upload Warren, only read today that you will be in Perth on Saturday, so disappointed I can’t make it to see you. Maybe next trip, cheers mate 🍻 Keep up the great work 👍
Bloody fantastic! Thanks Warren!
Always fascinates me that there doesnt appear to be a thick layer of soot still on a tunnel roof.....maybe there was enough steam to rinse it off each time?????? the mind boggles
Excellent and very interesting video! Thank you very much Warren! Be good if they do make that into a rail trail, those rail trails are usually very easy going thanks to the steady gradient and great for people who struggle a bit for whatever reason. Anyway be great to make use of it!
Well if you didn't bring this video out I would of never known about this place what a great part of our history thank you for sharing
G'day Warren. Great commentary! 3-4 years ago that area was a dust-bowl; not now. I've spent hundreds of hours exploring and studying the pit sites around Abernethy. There was a rudimentary old town-ship of sorts at that site, so remote they called it 'Siberia'. To the archio-eye, the dwelling lots are still visible; that particular area is now gazetted as National Park. Where the chimney is, I believe is council controlled, and probably quite okay to detect. Next time you are in the area I'd be glad show you to some of what I've discovered; it's a huge area all up. All the best, David.
Wouldn't you think a purchase to turn the old building into a home would be better than to just let it deteriate into a pile of rubble.
Hi Warren: So, I'm guessing the blackberries won out, in the endeavor to reach the old trestle. But even without that, it was a great sortie showing some fantastic old time craftsmanship of the building and tunnel. The old photo showing the plant in its' operating time was amazing. I always truly enjoy your history walkabouts, and encourage to do more as your time permits. Thank you!
That was very interesting ' thank you for sharing with us.
I lived in Charlestown from 1961 to 69 my playground was the Burwood Colliery and Dudley and Redhead beach's then the family moved to Townsville, they were fun days for a 12 year old
One of the big copper smelters I worked at here in Arizona we actually had to clean our smoke stacks every so often. You'd be amazed at the rare elements that were attached to the inside. Great explore. You brought back some memories. Thanks.😊
Unreal.
Cheers from the gold feilds of USA. Nice work...im a fan of my axiom done pretty well with it hit some nice slugs with it.
You should have said HOW to do a Factory Reset: Press POWER button for 5 seconds, wait for double-beep.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment - Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Ok. Does using the ground balance window have an advantage over using say slow tracking in varying ground. And does it affect sensitivity? Here in vic we have old timer's heaps that can be pipe clay right next to red clay with iron stone and or pizolite.
Yes any time you set tracking or open the Ground Balance Window you potentially lose sensitivity on tiny gold. I am familiar with the Central Vic situation with the red/purple clays in pipeclay and ironstone matrix which quickly changes the ground balance. These conditions change either vertically as you dig or horizontally as you swing the coil. Generally I would experiment with either setting (or a combination of both) to get the best operation in the ground you are detecting. For me, constant ground balancing with minimal changes to the settings is the answer, you won't ground balance out a metal target. But (theoretically) you could track out a very faint signal if you keep swinging over it with tracking set. I hope this helps mate - feel free to hit me with any more questions! Happy Fossicking! Warren.
@@NQExplorersThanks mate. A long time ML user. Used Garrett Groundhogs back in the 80s. But willing to try new machines on the market. Still have the old Garrett Groundhog for sentimental reasons. Lol
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice pace of gold
Hi Warren. Was the threshold at factory preset in this video?
Gday Dusty I’m pretty sure I was running a threshold around 15-20 but that varies with ground conditions and how quietly the machine is running at the time. All the best with your new Axiom mate - Happy Fossicking! Warren.
Enjoyed your video and good finds my friend.
Where did you have your Threshold set on this test mate?
Well done Warren. I miss Colleens input. Maybe on the next one. Research pays off. Cheers.
GREAT Job on your video , very interesting my friend,
