What John doesnt realize is that making daredevil canon in turn makes defenders canon. The beginning of season 3 is right where defenders leaves off
So basically if they are cherry picking it means that the Netflix universe isn’t canon. You can’t just pick what is and what isn’t because we all watched it. So basically it’s a Star Wars legends situation - somethings may have happened that we saw in the Netflix shows but probably in a different way to what we saw

I love John acting like they were 100% not the same characters despite that Marvel never said that and he was the primary advocate for that position lol.
Vincent D'Onofrio confirmed in a recent interview that they weren't originally going to be the same but now they are.
Disney+ added ALL of these shows to the timeline. Them being canon isn't even a question anymore.
I'm calling it now, Netflix's Iron Fist is canon! And so is the actor who played him! Seriously though, I enjoyed that show.
I know I did too.... i loved Colleen mostly. And loved Danny and Ward. The Kung fu in season 1 wasn't that great. But they fixed that.

Why are we even having this discussion cause the shows were all added to the timeline on Disney+?
I dont Know why The Defenders would not be canon when it is a direct sequel to the story of Daredevil season 2 and Daredevil Season 3 start directly after the events of The Defenders with Daredevil injured.
So by default Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are all canon.
If they dont appear again, it doesnt mean that they are not somewhere in the universe John.

Also sure, just because all the shows are canon now, it doesn't necessarily mean the actors/characters are coming back. I'm down for it of course but it all depends if they can fit in their plans.
Luckily It’s never been stated or explicitly stated that they’re picking and choosing what to keep as canon. Thankfully, they haven't gone that route. It's a blessing.

I think they'll bring everyone back. Including Luke Cage & Iron Fist - even with the same actors. Although I think recasting might be possible too. BUT I don't think these characters will be featured much if at all. They might have small cameos here and there but that's all.
Reintroducing only Daredevil and his story ONLY will open up neverending debates, because Defenders (of which Iron Fist is especially a major part) is a key part of the Daredevil series. Daredevil season 3 is dependent upon the events of Defenders.
I think they're going to bring over all of them.

Jessica Jones was reported to make a cameo in Born Again originally now she might not but is coming back. Latest rumor on luke cage is hes coming back once his schedule opens up. IT seems only iron fist may be recasted if any.

Iron Fist was actually a very good show. Finn Jones might have had his faults, but acting wasn't one of them. The writers weren't the best with what was actually a pretty good story. They should bring back Finn Jones with the good writers, and a contractual agreement for Jones to learn and practice martial arts.
Kevin Feige is so much in love with Matt Coulter, you can GUARANTEE that no other person will be allowed to come near that role. Feige is waiting for Coulter's schedule to clear up for Luke Cage. Feige himself is the one who won't let Matt Coulter be replaced.
The person that I'm hoping for THE MOST is my girlfriend, Elodie Yung, as Elektra Natchios. We know for a fact that she survived and crawled from beneath the rubble, though no mention is ever made of it. The proof that she survived is that Matt Murdock was found outside the rubble so that a 3rd season of Daredevil was produced. We want Elodie Yung! with her cute self.

Finn Jones wasn’t the problem. Scott Buck was. He is known to be a showrunner to make shows quick and cheap. He even took over the later seasons of Dexter (which I heard were not as good.) So, they hired a new showrunner for Season 2 which was a better season.
*Sorry I disagree.* Finn Jones *WAS part* of the problem with Iron Fist. Finn Jones didn’t take part in training BEFORE the show's fight scenes.
Iron Fist isn’t the first show to cast actors without martial arts experience. The difference is that in AMC’s *”Enter the Badlands”* ALL the actors gave 💯 to a gruelling practice schedule. Finn Jones didn’t care, and if you look at his post Marvel career, he’s not interested in action roles.
*TLDR:* For a show about a Martial Arts master Iron Fist sucked and Finn Jones was part of the problem. Google the interview with Iron Fists fight choreographer Brett Chan who also worked on *Warrior & Marco Polo.*
@@jimkellysafro Isn't that what I said??? So what is it, then, that you disagree with? I'm confused. Finn Jones is a great actor, but you know already how entitled he can act sometimes. I guess he thought training for the fight scenes might have been beneath him or something. Now, he's acting like he wants to do everything he was supposed to do in the beginning. But I would still make him sign a contract saying he will get his dojo mojo working, just in case he starts acting like he won't learn the fight choreography.
I honestly don't know how you can cherry pick from the Netflix universe. You could maybe disregard everything post DD S3, but everything before that leads to DD S3. DD S3 doesn't make sense without The Defenders, The Defenders doesn't make sense without IF S1, DD S2, LC S1, and JJ S1. So at least that much has to be canon for the story to make sense. I don't see why Netflix MCU as a whole can't be canon, but IF doesn't need to show up unless they have a story that needs him. Same with LC or JJ. JJ is someone I can see more easily being incorporated in DD: Born Again since she's a PI. The Hand doesn't ever need to be mentioned again and they could always bring back Elektra sometime later.
the Netflix stuff (and all the pre-Disney Plus MCU stuff) are canon and have always been canon. You're understandings of what was said surrounding Born Again lead you to believe that it originally wasn't going to be the Netflix Daredevil whereas my understandings of what was said lead me to believe that it was intended to be the same one, however you've been trying to state your understanding of it (basically your opinion) as though it was fact when it was only your opinion.
I feel every single thing that happened in the Netflix shows is canon and will be brought over. Sure some actors may be different or some things may not get referenced or whatever, but contrary to popular belief that has no bearing on whether something is canon or not. They may recast Danny Rand, but that in no way indicates the events of the Iron Fist show and everything Iron Fist did in the Netflix stuff never happened in the Sacred Timeline, much in the same way that recasting Hulk or War Machine or any of the other recasts we've had in the MCU didn't suddenly make everything they did before non-canon.
All this to say, every storyline and plot point and everything will have happened and will be the building blocks for the characters going forward, the only differences may be some of the actors for the roles or some characters not showing up as often or whatever, but that doesn't indicate non-canon.
I think that they’ll bring over everybody except Finn Jones, in fact I’m not so sure that the MCU will want to include Iron Fist in their TV universe at all, I think the character might just be kept out of the MCU altogether, I think we’re gonna get confirmation about Jon Bernthal very soon and then with Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter I think they’ll end up being regarded as unconfirmed for a little while but eventually will end up being officially confirmed maybe a month or 2 later

I think daredevil, Jessica, & Punisher stuff will remain all cannon untouched
Luke cage i think it just depends if Mike Coulter ever becomes available one of the busiest people in the market currently. Will have minor tweaks.
Iron fist is tricky, The show and the characters with Tied to him will be the one i imagine to have the most change out of any characters. I never had a issue with finn jones its just outside of collen wang his interactions everyone else made him very unlikable with writing & to some degree Finns portrayal. But if disney decided to to do a revival of the series trust me ill be the 1st to hit play
I don’t get how some of it can be canon and some of it not. It’s in the MCU Timline, so if someone that doesn’t really know what’s going on watches it, how are they suppose to know which scenes are canon or not. Cause don’t they all crossover at some point?

Punisher shows up in a large role in Daredevil season 2, Daredevil is canon, therefore the Punisher character is canon, regardless of whether his own show is or not.
In terms of iron fist there are several versions of iron fist so they can use one of those...I think mike colter will definitely be back and Kristen Ms jessica jones for sure

Cherry picking some story elements from the Netflix shows is what I thought they were going to do before when the shows were not considered canon. Kinda like what Star Wars did with EU. So if that's what they're still going to do now, even after they did make them canon, then absolutely NOTHING changed and in reality the Netflix shows are still not canon. This whole thing means absolutely nothing and feels like a publicity stunt.
100% - it’s not canon - it’s just some things happened similar to what we saw, but the show we saw didn’t actually happen.

All the shows are in the MCU timeline. They didn’t just add Daredevil to the timeline. I believe it’s all canon now
Jon Bernthal's can work as Punisher under the Marvel Spotlight banner, as for Mike Colter''s Luke Cage a lot of people loved Luke Cage series. The first season of Luke Cage received 90% with the critical rating of 8/10 on RT and the second season of Cage received 85% and critical rating of 7.2/10 on RT, so it's safe to say there are a lot fans of Mike Colter's Luke Cage. I have no doubt Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones.
And because of the complaints of cultural appropriation and the bad reception of Iron Fist by critics and fans I could see Danny Rand being recast. And if they do recast Danny Rand, the actor who plays him should preferably be Eurasian. If Danny Rand is Eurasian in the MCU you can undermine the accusation of cultural appropriation or even, make that a story point by having Danny Rand be partly white thus having to deal with bigotry of not being "Asian enough" to be Iron Fist. That would MCU best bet to have Iron Fist work in the MCU.

According to interview with fight choreographer Brett Chan, Iron Fists supporting cast put MORE effort into practice than Finn Jones. Brett Chan also choreographed *Warrior & Marco Polo;* his fight kick ass but he was limited with Finn Jones.

To be fair Jessica Jone is average for me, only David Tenant the Doctor Himself is the best part. Good god please do not bring back that stinking Iron Fist universe. I hate the fact that Marvel just pick and choose what best or not, and look what happen, it creates lots of confusion to people already. Is this Kingpin even the same because he sure lots weaker and not act like Netflix Kingpin.
Bring it all, fix any issues afterwards using some kind of multi-verse shenanigans. Also, season 2 of Luke Cage was better than Season 1 - Bushmaster was an excellent Villain.

Iron Fist should return... just not portrayed by Finn Jones. Edward Norton is no longer Bruce Banner. Terence Howard is no longer Rhodey. Get an actor with a martial arts background or a martial artist who acts. Either way, win/win!

I have another reason for why they won’t bring back Finn Jones as Iron Fist. I think Kevin Feige might want to cast an Asian actor to play the character. Now that we have successful movies like Shang-Chi, Everything Everywhere All At Once and Crazy Rich Asians, there is more excitement to see more Asian representation in movies.
Also, it will allow to modernize the character. Iron Fist is unfortunately tied to racial stereotypes from the past due to being a character that originated in the 70s when Kung Fu was all the rage. Shang-Chi, who came from the same era, had a similar problem as the original Shang-Chi comics were full of outdated stereotypes. That was one thing I absolutely loved about Shang-Chi since they completely distanced themselves from those old stereotypes and made a more respectable representation of Chinese culture and mythology. They should do the same with Iron Fist.
I don't think the answer to combat Asian stereotypes is make Danny Rand an Asian stereotype. I think if you are going to change Danny Rand ethnicity it should be to make him Eurasian. You would be staying somewhat true to source material by having Danny Rand be partially white, while also addressing the racial complexity of having a biracial identity, which is something the MCU has not covered as of yet.

I must be one of the very few who liked IRON FIST and would had like to had him back. Another issues there seems to a move away from blond comic heroes which is a shame.
I LOVED Jessica Jones whole series even while saying seaon 2 was a little all over the place with the mother storyline. I actually rank that series 2nd to Daredevil. I am dying to see her return to the role in the proper MCU. I wouldn't mind recasts of Luke Cage and Iron Fist
