Here's a fun fact - the first gladiator was heavily promoted with Kid Rock's bawitdaba. In fact, there was a super bowl commercial. 😂. Im sure the score will be as epic as han zimmer's however.
I remember the commercials for the first Gladiator had Kid Rock’s Bawatiba in it. I can get past the song in Gladiator 2 trailer. Still looks good.
2 problems I had with the trailer. 1st they placed hip hop in a period piece epic mostly during Denzel scenes. 2nd Denzel doesn't change his accent or inflection at all. He feels like he's a character from a different time period, and I've seen him as King Lear so he can deliver Shakespeare.

What erked me was that the trailer felt over when the song kicked in, and I was like, "oh, wait, there's more?"

Was not excited by the sequel announcement, but surprisingly, the trailer doesn't look bad, but the music choice at the end really killed the vibe. Cautiously optimistic about the movie now.

Not a trailer, but I thought a fantastic use of more contemporary music in an epic film was A Knight’s Tale. You could tell it was an integral part of the filmmakers’ vision. 👍🏾

I saw Denzel Washington’s laugh + smile and I instantly knew this film was gonna be dope.

I remember the original movie had a different variations of the trailer, one of them used the song by kid rock bawitdaba, really made it seem like the movie was going to be cheesy even though the song is cool
I understand the feedback I actually didn’t mind the music. What it did show was Ridley is back building worlds and the cast looks incredible
@@TangoOpps Point 1 you’re incorrect the casting just like the first movie will be the bread and butter to the success. Denzel as always commands the screen even from the trailer. His voice and cadence of speech is not how he would talk. Pascal looks and sounds exactly like I’d imagine a Roman general to sound. The film is ambitious because I doubted the value of a sequel at all, because the first is so masterful. But you have to admire the courage of the studio, director and cast for attempting this.

I’m not mad about it. I honestly didn’t mind the song. It actually phonetically fits and the story of Gladiator is fictional so I don’t think you need that level of realism that “era appropriate” music would bring. I think that the attempt from a marketing standpoint point is that they want to real in new possible viewers. I imagine that if you already saw the original Gladiator then this trailer would stop you from wanting to see Gladiator 2 but if you haven’t seen the original maybe the music offers an element a familiarity that will make you want to watch the original so you can enjoy the sequel. Just a thought.
The original Gladiator Superbowl spot had Kid Rock playing. But I wouldn’t really count that lol

The 2000 Gladiator DID have some modern music in one of their commercials and I think it was Kid Rock's song.

There was a Gladiator 1 trailer with Kid Rock's Bawitaba playing on it back in the day that played during the Superbowl and during WWE events and it was pretty cool lol
Not a great song choice, but it didn't ruin the trailer for me that much. This still looks amazing and is now my 2nd most anticipated film of they behind DeadPool & Wolverine!

@@latinballa88I'm worried about the film as well but they will definitely not use rap music in the film. Harry Gregson-Williams was hired for the score. He worked with Ridley on Kingdom of Heaven (which had a beautiful soundtrack), Prometheus, The Martian and Last Duel and also worked on other stuff like the music of the Metal Gear Solid video games. He is a pupil of Hans Zimmer and was "endorsed" by him as a composer for Gladiator 2.

Thomas Dolby, "She Blinded Me With Science" is a better analogy for Oppenheimer.

When I saw the trailer this morning I was really excited for this movie and with the music on the trailer I was so shocked when they put Kanye West and Jay-Z that have me surprised

Yup, one of those tv spots was a superbowl trailer with football flip flopping back n forth.

I think Gladiator 2 seems to be on the lines with most of Ridley Scott's latest movies, good but not quite great. The music did not bother me at first, but later when I thought about it, it may have been the reason why it did not impact me as much!

What is this nonsense about appealing to a younger audience regarding the music . Gladiator was made or released in 2000. The late 1990s and early 2000s probably was the hey days of some of the greatest rock and pop bands in modern history , and top of that there was all that techno music like house , garage, trance etc. There was a much greater variety of pop music then than there is today. Yet the makers of.gladiator didnt think it was a good idea to put in a track from fat boy slim in the trailer. People act as if it was the stoneage then . This rap score in this trailer is just stupid because it takes you out of the mysticism of ancient rome . Hans zimmers track for gladiator was legendary. Holding my breath for this movie as napolean was not good

You mentioned that in Gladiator 1 it was heavily implied that Lucious is Maximus’s son. I don’t remember that. Didn’t he say that his father was Lucious Farris(not sure of spelling), Lucilla’s husband who died? What specific line are you referring to? Maybe I missed it.
The film in no way implies this. It's complete make-believe on Campea's part.
He's not. He made that up in his head. The whole point of the movie was he loved his wife and kids and wanted to get back to them. He would have had to cheat on her for that to be true.
They need to stop with these garbage modern music in history movies
I comprehend the point being made, but I didn't get phased by the music. I have never been that taken by trailer music either way, and it doesn't add to or detract from what I saw. I can say it may not fit for some people, but the content outweighs the song for me. If it were the actual movie , maybe it takes me out of it, but a 2 min trailer, is just not that important to me to worry that much about the music. Sorry it sucked for you. Life goes on.

The music in the original Gladiator was amazing. It elevated the film and is one of the few score CD purchases I have ever made. I hope this is not in the actual movie or they may have lost me no matter how good it may be.

What’s going on is that the younger generation are moving away from movies that are set back in the biblical Roman times or ancient Egypt you’re starting to see GenZ kids or younger adults not care about the past so when you see movies like these people won’t go see it. I have never seen great movies in the theater be as empty seated as I do now. I don’t know if it’s money issues far as affordability or technology has made it so assessable to watch it at home that people don’t wanna go out anymore not to mention the food has such as popcorn and drinks. You’re spending almost $50 just to have a treat as you watch a movie, which sucks. So if it’s not a comic book movie and a good one, people were not going to the movies anymore. Genz kids will never know what was so great about growing up in our time.

I didn’t like they put a rap song, but I’ve seen a lot of people saying things like “it doesn’t make sense with that time period”. If we’re talking anachronisms neither does having an orchestral score. It should be lutes and flutes.
The main wind instrument you hear in Gladiator, the Duduk, which gives that sad background melody, was contemporary to that period

First the rap is in trailer and that as far we know and most likely it. The people who make the trailer are not the people who mafe the film. We should all this now after what happen to suicide squad years ago when the studio handed it to the company that cut the trailer.

It looked good, but unfortunately, it didn’t really answer the question of “why is this necessary?” I get it’s only the first trailer, but it looked a little too similar and familiar for me. I am relatively excited for this, but the trailer could’ve been a little better

I cant believe the level of idiocy required to put out this trailer....
1) Trailer should have used a reimagined track from the Gladiator score. Just give the audience some recognizable melody they know and love.
2) Trailer is too long and shows too much. 2 minutes tops. Less action and carnage. That wasnt why Gladiator is was loved. Slower cuts, fade to blacks, more thoughful.
3) Trailer should feel connected to the world of the first film in its vibe, not just visuals. Establish some of the main characters and who they are in relation to Maximus.
