Kind of funny how a Superman movie that was announced a year ago has most of the main cast members already revealed, while we still get weekley rumors about who could be in a Fantastic Four movie that was announced almost four years ago.
Good point. Marvel barely announces anything and the movie news they keep quiet. I forgot we are getting another Cap movie
Doesn't matter when a movie is announced. Superman is MUCH closer to starting shooting than F4 is.

Casting for the new DCU has been great so far, definitely no odd choices like Jesse Eisenburg as Lex. Lol
Snyder fans love to accuse these castings as “safe” as a coping mechanism for shit castings like that. 😂
At first I didn’t mind Eisenberg cast as Luthor; the way he was portrayed was just not Luthor. Still say he would’ve made a great Riddler

I was onboard with Eisenberg as Lex. He could have been an amazing Lex if he had been more cold and calculating like his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg rather than the live action Daffy Duck we ended up getting.
That was the worst decision ever. WB should have seen this as a red flag but Snyder wanted his way for BvS
people tend to not understand, that supergirl isn't clark kent, she was raised on krypton and is traumatised by its the destruction and losing her family more then superman who was a baby. Kara is actually a character who is a lot rougher and it isn't as trusting of people at first, so while we had the supergirl tv series, that wasn't typical supergirl, honestly sasha calle's supergirl was actually a little more closer and i think we are going to get that in Milly's interpretation

This is a great choice. I loved her in HOTD. You are right I also was so sad when she got aged out of the show. That is amazing after only a few episodes.

I gotta admit. I like it. She slayed it in House of the Dragons.
She is great in an Australian drama/comedy called Upright, that there were two season of. She was a fierce character in that too, and a major standout… and this was way before House of the Dragon.

Even though I'm disappointed that the woman that plays Supergirl in the flash is not coming back I am very glad that Milliey got this opportunity to play Supergirl she is an excellent actress loved her and House of the dragon and I'm really looking forward to her performance playing this role

I along with most ppl who saw Milly in HOTD saw her acting and said immediately she was going to be a superstar. I'm glad she got the role in the new DCU, I'm not the biggest James Gunn fan and wish the DCEU wasn't derailed by WB but here's to hoping the DCU works out.
My favorite casting so far. Now I'm actually invested in what DC is building.

I agree that Supergirl does not have to be jacked but a also disagree that Wonder Woman has to be big and jacked. Diana is an Amazon and she should be fit but her powers come from the gods...(Or from her being a demigod depending on which origin they go with).
In the comics, very few of the Amazons are jacked, most have an athletic build.
I like the casting. And as far as I can tell; reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.

I think James Gunn has been making some really great casting decisions. I'm confident these upcoming DCU films can be very good as long as he doesn't try to include too much humor, but I think he showed in the guardians of the galaxy films that he is capable of balancing humor and emotional story telling.
Snyderverse had the best casting.....it didn't help. I was most impressed with Gunns work on Peacemaker. Humanizing an unlikable character. Working on the ground level. I think Gunn has way more respect for the comics.

@@nickisactor We'll see with Superman I guess.....since from everything he says. I think Superman will be very traditional. Peacemaker, Suicide Squad. Guardians weren't serious. The Justice league scene was played for jokes because the show was played for jokes. He produced Brightburn.....so he's open to serious takes. And as for respecting comic books....after every trailer these days from DC. He puts the comics that inspired them. Only a comic nerd would do that.

I love how James Gunn is taking time to cast. So excited for his DCU
I admittedly haven’t seen house of the dragon or Game of Thrones, I know, as a fantasy fan I should check them out and I probably will particularly with house of the dragon as it’s a prequel I believe.
However, it seems like Milly Alcock from what John said will be a fantastic supergirl, not just in physicality but, particularly with her introduction to the new DCU supposedly being a more dark and intense supergirl story with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Anyone who is a DC comics reader, even casually and has read that story knows what I’m talking about.

All I know is that before this year is over there is going to be a teaser trailer of this Superman Legacy and people are going to be more intrigued than they already are and I can definitely say the first day this movie comes out I will do my best to be there cuz this is going to be make or break for James Gunn this one movie decides where the DC Universe goes from here and I'm looking forward to see what happens

Supergirl's story is she is a teen who was in cryo sleep and landed on earth. She is strong because of the yellow sun but still a skinny teenager.
Superman worked on his father's farm. He is a farmer and they are usually muscular. His muscles are because of him lifting heavy things all the time. The yellow sun helps him never lose it but he did take effort to get it in the first place.
Wonder Woman off course is Amazonian warrior so she has to muscular.
I haven't seen anything from her to my knowledge but I'm interested in this casting. Let's see how this goes!

The only reason I wanted Meg Donley (may have messed that name up), is cause my 7 year old daughter loves her in the Disney Zombies movies, and I really wanted to have her get excited for this movie

Personally I would’ve loved to have seen Isabel May who was in the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 which she’s amazing in but out of all those girls who it was down to im happy milly got it. And for a director I’d like to see Chloe Zhao do this one. Like this is really close artistic wise to what she was doing with Eternals, the art and character design, the suits, creatures, the action! The cinematography… it’s all so close to the look of the supergirl comic and I think that artistic eye she had for eternals would create a beautiful looking krypton and kryptonian world for this story
So if Supergirl doesn’t have to get too fit. Then why does Superman have to be so buff?

If you look at the previous Supermen, only Henry Cavill is jacked. Christopher Reeve, Dean Cane, Brandon Routh, George Reeves, and a few others were not. They were in shape, but not like Henry's version.
@@AlkalineInsides these double standards have always existed in the comicbook genre, or any action genre tbh. Most people dont find muscular or toned women appealing and even the actresses themselves are encouraged to just look as thin as possible. I mean its not just real life either, just look at Supergirl from the comics. I just hope they atleast make Wonder Woman have a muscular or athletic body.

Depends on when they her ship getting to Earth. When they introduced the post-Crisis version, it was later in Superman's career and Dick Grayson was an adult and was Nightwing while Kara was 16.. In the current continuity, Kara landed on earth earlier and Dick was still Robin and in the original Teen Titans and he was the same age as Kara.
not saying it’ll happen, but kara is celebrating her 21st birthday in the woman of tomorrow comic and I thinks it’ll likely be the same for the movie

I would think a lot of people want her back in HOTD because she's cute lol. I never started HOTD, 99% because of how poorly GoT ended, but also knowing the fact that Milly isn't in there long makes me not feel like watching it either. Lol

I’m thinking this was a popularity contest, I think James Gunn leaks the top contenders for the role on purpose, to test the internets reaction to them and who gets the most votes for being cast, not a lot of people know who Meg Donnelly is, but I don’t know to many people that didn’t watch House of the dragon, so everyone knows who Millie Alcock is, so of course she was the most popular choice, and she was good in hotd for the time that she was on there, I’m happy the actress is getting work, but I think it was always going to be her due to her more known status, and James Gunn seemingly wanting to be liked and please everyone
Well, it was 50/50 between Meg and Milly. Meg got more votes when I looked in the comment sections.
Why bother do screen-tests if that was the case?
actually I thought Meg was going to get it because more people seemed to want her and thought of her to be more "pretty". She even voices Supergirl in the DCAU so that was another advantage in her favour. She also does look more like the Woman of Tomorrow Version of Supergirl, whereas Milly looks more like the teenage New 52 version of her. So to me the fact that Milly still got the role, who was personally my top choice since 6 months ago, means that she must have killed it in the screen tests and auditions.

I remember watching the first few eps of HoTD around the time Gunn announced the Supergirl movie,and after watching Millie on the show I was immediately like "holy shit she would be perfect as Supergirl."
I even made a reddit post about it lol,so it's surreal to think she actually got it because no one else was talking about her for the role. Anyways,another small victory for DC fans.

Kryptonians don't need muscle mass so neither does Supergirl, so Alcock doesn't need to get jacked, sure. Does that mean that Corenswet doesn't need to get jacked either.
The same doesnt apply to male superhero characters. And to be fair, it will still be comic accurate.

You don't know if they went with looks for Corenswet. You don't need to be famous to be good at acting.
I also preferred Meg but to be fair, Alcock is taller than Meg Donnelly so you're the one with double standards. Don't necesarily think it's a problem. Scarlett Johansson is 5'3 and played Black Widow. Milly is 5'5.

Happy for those who are excited about the casting thus far. That being said, it’s not for me. She looks like she is 12. I get that James Gunn is hoping/planning his casting lasts a long time and for several movies and appearances but I think overall his casting is too young and weak sauce. Continues the overall vibe of “meh” for me.

Good actress, but miscast because a 5 foot 4 Supergirl is just going to look weird, the character has never been depicted as a short woman anywhere in films, shows or comics. If you think this is good casting then lets cast Danny Devito has the Hulk and paint him green. Supergirl has to be played by a normal height to taller woman. WB wanted to give her job and so miscast her in this.
Height doesn't mean anything. Most actors/actress are short. With camera angles and blocking they can make anyone seem taller then they really are. A 5'5-5'6 Tom Hardy played Bane in TDKR 😆

@@Delboy0 Tom hardy just below 6 foot? 😂 He was just in a BJJ tournment were his stats listed his height a 5'7 (at most). And the camera can make things larger and people taller. You'd be surpised what you can do with angles and blocking.
