Milly Alcock seems like the perfect pick for Supergirl considering the story being adapted is Tom King’s “Woman of Tomorrow.” The particular range of emotions Kara feels throughout that story make me pretty confident that Alcock is the better pick, although I’m certain Meg Donnelly would’ve been wonderful too.
I was rooting for Meg Donnelly, but Milly Alcock is a wonderful pick as well, both great actors.
She's also showed up to awards shows absolutely hammered so I am sure she can play a gal drinking away her sorrows lol.

Milly and Meg both seemed like great choices, I was rooting for Meg a bit just cause she’s been in a industry for so long and hasn’t had a major film role yet but I’m still super happy with Milly’s casting. Would love to see Meg somewhere else in this DCU, especially considering it’s not unusual for actors who originally auditioned for one role to get another later on. She’s obviously very good if she made it this far in auditions.
Milly was my first choice for supergirl out of the 3, so I’m super excited to see her take on the role! I’m sure Meg would’ve been great too, but even though they’re the same age, I think Millie has a bit more youthful look. I think she’ll nail the emotionally volatile and outwardly strong but inwardly delicate personality I always associate with Kara.

I think that a choice for a character in live action requires more nuances than beyond the voice interpretation, I have no idea how the test went, but the fact that Gunn was "in love" says that it was an authorial choice and it has to be like that

I saw Milly Alcock in The Crucible last year in London where she was doing an American accent. She's fine, nothing to worry about there.
Meg "voiced" Supergirl and likely not the same Supergirl from Woman of Tomorrow. Which is why I thought Milly would be a better fit.

I’ve always imagined it that Supergirl speaks English, but with a thick accent. Whatever Kryptonian sounds like I guess, but I always imagine her speaking with Scandinavian-like accent. It always confused me that they would ever give her an American accent in any films or cartoons or TV shows. She’s Kryptonian!

5'5'' is really short for Supergirl considering side by side Superman is 6'4''. I know Gunn knows hero movies and it'll be a welcomed spin on Kryptonians that they're not all dark and brooding and more like Hollands Parker. Kinda wish he went Scandinavian; an actress who english is second so she sounds like someone who learned english once gettin on Earth.

Excited to see how it turns out with Milly ❤.. I'm gonna mention a comment i saw on reddit. Firstly I will say though i felt Milly wasn't the best choice out of the previous 3. Kara of course is a character who can be played multiple ways depending on the version of her being presented,but with that said I felt Milly wasn't physically big enough to make a good Kara compared to the other actresses. Going back to that reddit quote , it mentioned how no one really thought Melissa would play a good Supergirl at the time. As a fan of Glee during its run I already was accustomed to her and so shared the sentiments of it possible being a weird casting.. Overall though I do agree that she played that role really well. In that same mind I am open to seeing Milly's adaptation of the character with an open mind. Hopefully it is a great portrayal and it helps make a lasting foundation of the new DCU .
I mean why should we know the plots of movies before they come out? I don't think its a bad sign that we don't know shit. Also scripts don't get concretely finished and then filming starts and the scripts is never touched again...not anymore anyway. For the past couple decades scripts are always being doctored and rewritten and plused up well into reshoots if they're needed. I don't think its a terrible sign at Marvel that scripts are still being updated...I think its a good sign if anything.

I would imagine whoever ends up playing Ruthye, or the equivalent film character, will be someone who narrowly missed out on Supergirl, my guess was that Emilia Jones would get it but maybe she isn't interested

I'm going to take a "trust in Gunn" approach to the DCU. Gunn has a strong vision, and he makes damn good movies. Whatever he sees in David Corenswet and Milly Alcock will be great.

Was hoping for and anticipating Milly winning out so I'm beyond happy with the casting. Seen a few clips of the Supergirl that Donnelly voiced and didn't see how it aligned with the Supergirl from Woman of Tomorrow, thus I didn't see how that gave her a leg up on Milly. Milly's performance in HotD screamed everything they were looking for in a WoT adaptation.

I will admit Milly Alcock was my least favourite of the three actresses supposedly in consideration, but I don't think she's a bad choice. I am still wary without a director being named, seems like someone who should've been involved in casting for the movie they'll be making, but whatever.

I think Milly is gonna be great, though currently I am struggling to visualize her as Supergirl. She certainly has the attitude n such, but she just looks so young! Yeah while she’s 23 and older than the comic Supergirl who’s 21, she looks like she’s still in her teenager phase with a height of 5’5 and little to no muscle. Obviously the latter is gonna change as she’ll begin some sort of workout routine n such, but it’s certainly a far cry from the Woman of Tomorrow leaping off the comics. If anything she feels a lot more like the DCAU Supergirl from Superman The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited.
Meg Donnelley may have been the inferior actress but hot damn did she look the part. Curly blonde hair, sharp jawline, and looks like she could be David Corenswet’s cousin. Though, surprisingly I just found out she’s actually SHORTER than Milly at 5’3!😭

It's kind of weird that Gunn picked a Supergirl actress before they hired a director for that film. I don't know if any high-profile directors will want to sign on if they can't have a lot of say on story (as the script is already being written) and they can't pick their own actress. Like people were throwing around names like Greta Gerwig or Chloe Zhao, which I don't think were ever a real possibility anyway, but I think directors on that level would want to atleast have a say in casting their Supergirl. It might make the choice for the director position harder.

This is in no way a shot against her as an actress, but in HOTD I found her appearance to be so offputting. That said, from the 3-4 seconds of other content that were shown on screen it appears she doesnt always look that way, and James Gunn hasnt yet given me a reason to distrust his casting decisions. On looks preference was for "not-Milly" but im excited tobsee how she does. Script will be more important than actress in this recreation, although obviously, Milly will have to carry a lot of /99% of it.

Pretty unlikely tbh. That was a very minor role that she certainly got because her dad (and adoptive father in the movie) is the lead. Plus James Gunn didn’t have anything to do with Love and Thunder, not even wanting the Guardians to show up.

I figured at SOME point him and Chris Hemsworth talked to one another just because they’re part of the Marvel machine and maybe the idea might float around. I think House of the Dragon honestly kind of sucks, to be honest, but Milly Alcock was definitely a bright spot on that mess of a show. She seems like she’s going to be great as Kara.
they need to cast the characters to how they look in the book....if you want diversity just create a new latino or black individual do not change the white characters to black or latino....and I am black and I do not agree with race changing. That is the main reason why disney is failing....thank goodness they even cast jimmy olson with a white actor with red hair.
