Let's get Superman out first. Let's establish Superman. Let Superman have his own movie. Let's get Batman in that Universe 5years from now
Yes let a Batman movie be a Batman movie and let a Superman movie be a Superman movie.
I HOPE Superman is shown as a character with deeply held moral convictions and values. A character study like that would be amazing. HOPE and Superman are synonymous and I hope this film shows that.
We need a really good stand alone Superman trilogy. No multiverse BS. Just a solid trilogy. Just make good movies. This isn’t rocket science.

Well these characters don't have a solo live action movie and those characters might add more to the story or future stuff batman himself have a massive world of characters story and many live action movies he needs to stay in his lane until needed story wise or not at all.

It’s funny in hindsight these podcasters can say BVS was a mistake but they were the main ones including John saying that we’ve had so many Batman movies we don’t need to retail his origin just bring him in and all loved the idea.

This somehow being news shows how much DC has pandered to Batman (and Batman fans), and how much WB has fucked up Superman’s reputation as THE guy. No one is shocked or angry that Superman isn’t in a Batman movie, yet there’s this confusion and outrage for the other way around. It should be a no brainer that Superman should be the selling point of…you know, a SUPERMAN movie???

Nah, it's best to not show him at all. It's better if they just be referenced him or if his logo pops up somewhere, like in Man of Steel. He wasn't actually in there but the "Wayne" logo was on a satellite when Superman went to Space.
I think that’s a good thing, James Gunn is clearly trying to make a *Superman* movie first, he’s not trying to make this a Justice League setup movie, I’m still wondering how Green Lantern fits into this movie but I don’t think he’s gonna have a ton of screentime, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if his role in this movie was just him conversing with the Kryptonian’s during a flashback or something, plus given how different the tone of Batman is to Superman I think James Gunn would want us to experience Batman’s movie first before he puts the 2 of them together so there’s no confusion as to what kind of Batman we’re gonna be getting, and so I think it’s definitely good that they’re not using him yet

People really have to calm down and be patient. Those guys are creating an entire universe over the course of at least 10 yrs. There's plenty of time to introduce the other super popular DC heroes. Yes, there are a lot of other heroes reported to be in "Legacy" but we don't know to what capacity. They may just already be in place in a "universe that already has heroes".

Thank you Mr. Gunn! We do no need Batman in a Superman movie yet. Take your time and let DCU build naturally like the early MCU. Hopefully a healthy DCU will help the MCU find its groove again.

Honestly I’m kinda glad James Gunn isn’t saying much and releasing much details as it allows us to be skeptical of what he is cooking 😂 I honestly think James Gunn got this, I don’t think every film and show will hit like Marvel Phsse 1-3 but I’m sure it will be good in a way where it won’t lack content. I think he will make Peacemaker, Batman and Superman great, other characters I’m not too sure about. Like Guardians of the Galaxy and Sucide squad were great films, some of the best in the last few years of Marvel and DC being shite 😂 apart from some projects like The Batman, Loki series, No way home. But I think James Gunn will do justice and bring a new justice league 😂

6:55 THIS 💯. In other words....the opposite of what Snyder unfortunately did. Made a Superman movie (BvS) with a "Batman" tone... arguably the same problem with MoS although I love the direction he went with that movie. Gunn probably will establish Batman's INDIVIDUAL tone and Superman's INDIVIDUAL tone SEPARATELY then make their coming together all the more epic. Think how the first Avengers did with Stark, Cap and Thor. It felt like the Thor from his own movie met and clashed with Stark from his own movie yet it made perfect sense how it was done and that's why over a billion dollars worth of people marked out over that movie. Gunn can pull that off I believe
I would rather they start with origins personally but I as long as they actually develop rhe characters and stick to one dang plot in the movies maybe. I understand their not trying to copy mcu but it worked for a reason.

Start team up movies and other stuff all over again. And I'll probably just dip out and finally give up on DC. Because they largely just don't seem to know what they're doing. Outside their solo projects like the batman.
Thank god Batman is not in the movie. I don’t mind Batman but every movie can’t be its own thing without some Batman being in it. If they do put Batman in it, put it at the end of the credits as a teaser.

I know Bruce Wayne is the studio's Golden Boy. But IMO, Warner Bros Discovery should really try to scale back Batman's live-action appearances. For the past 20 years alone, we've had at least 6 actors to interpret him in live-action. (And to be fair, Superman isn't far behind; he's had 4 live versions these last two decades, going on 5). They're about to add another Bat actor for Gunn's DCU, playing parallel to Pattinson's universe. There can always be a chance of overexposure, especially if you have DCU Bats showing up multiple times in any given film. WBD has another opportunity to do what Marvel has done: to concentrate on making popular some of DC's most obscure (or under-utilized) characters. I really want to see Gunn's Green Lantern, and Swamp Thing. And Hawkman. The Atom. Plastic Man. Martian Manhunter and Dr. Fate. Let's turn those guys into more prominent household names, and make them interesting, instead of relying solely on Batman's dominance, in order to push product.

I think the most that’ll happen is that Superman will mention Batman in a line and that’s it, I also think they most likely already know each other in this universe and are possibly already good friends.

I agree with John, people aren’t sick of Batman and need a break from Batman, including myself, we are just tired of directors putting out half assed/undercooked releases that just slap the name of a popular character like Batman and say “Hey look at this!”

In fact, as a huge Batman fan myself who isn’t a blind fan, I will tell you I have no problem admitting that Batman shouldn’t be in this Superman:Legacy movie as we already have too many characters within the Superman universe being introduced in this film that if Batman were added in, it would feel like too much when, the movie already runs the risk in my opinion, of cracking under the pressure of introducing several iconic Superman universe characters in one movie.

@@LightskinVamp No, what I think he means, and I agree with him, is that some people (COUGHmarvelCOUGH) have been selling ALL their movies by hyping up cameos and characters and whatnot (usually ending in disappointment) instead of selling the main plot or character. I mean, it worked on Spidey because EVERYONE wanted all 3 Spideys, it was all leading to it, and when it happened, Tobey and Andrew were integral to the plot. Multiverse of Madness was going to be this super mega epic crossover with everyone and their mother appearing, and it was a total fiasco where the cameos meant or provided NOTHING of value other than "oooh woooow, xavier". Of COURSE it's fine to make and promote The Batman (because it's AWESOME and they actually sold BATMAN as the main attraction), just not slapping the character everywhere like you're supposed to flip out because "ohhh, look, BATMAN'S CAPE APPEARS IN TEH CORNER, WOEZERS"

I believe the problem with film today is every other studio is trying to build a “cinematic universe” instead of simply telling stories. The Batman worked because it told a dark, gritty detective story in Gotham. No mention of metropolis or central city not that they don’t exist but there also weren’t random appearances of other characters that have nothing to do with Batman’s story. It’s building its own universe hence the upcoming Penguin series and I can’t wait to see what other stories are told. But strictly going off of the news I’ve heard for “Superman” it already feels way too crowded. Whether other heroes exist or not the only hero beside maybe Kara that should appear.. is Batman. Establish your core heroes and everything else will fall in line. Just tell a Superman story. Hawk girl. Mr Terrific. Metamorpho. Knowing these aren’t cameos which is another unnecessary thing that’s gotten way out of hand these days to me sounds as bad as some other overstuffed films from the 90’s.

Why batman should be is this new superman movie?? I mean, I think BvS is great, but I get why so many fans didn't love it.... The movie was filled with too much stuff, and I don't blame Zack for that, I blame the studio the mediocre administration (that's another story). Yes, James Gunn said that batman is not in SLegacy and that's the right decision. BUT, he didn't say anything about Bruce Wayne. A perfect and subtle way to introduce batman would be just through Bruce Wayne, appearing maybe in a TV commercial or doing am interview on the news or even for the Daily Planet
I hope James greenlights a world's finest movie. If both solo projects are well liked. No superman fighting batman. just them being good cop and bad cop in a story where both there strengths and weaknesses are complimented by each other.where braniac is the possible villain.

I mean, yes, when the time is right and all, move into JL, but if you start doing cameos for cameos' sake and RUSHING to get everyone onscreen, then you make the exact same mistakes as the DCEU did. Let's let a Superman film be a Superman film and worry about Bats later. He's got no shortage of films anyway.

You must not have heard, none of these are origin stories. In fact how can we be tired of them when there's only been two essentially? Keaton/Burton and Bale/Nolan. This new Batman is going to already have Damien as his son/Robin and Pattinson Batman wasn't an origin.

I still just wish they were leaving Batman out of the DCU. Personally I love Batman, but I don’t see how Batman works in a world of superhumans and aliens. I think Batman is better as a standalone character.

James Gunn's never let us down & Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was wildly entertaining??? Seriously! Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen & at the bottom of all the MCU films produced to date imo. Hopefully that's a one-off but let's see.

I trust James Gunn as a filmmaker and writer but I think it is too little too late for DC. The sheer fact that his Suicide Squad was a really well made and enjoyable movie and it made next to no money. The Same with Shazam 2, Aquaman 2 (both not well made). DC has completely lost audience and fans buy in.
To even stand a chance of succeeding, the movie probably needs to be Oscar worthy to get people to go see it. Gunn has probably gone too under the radar with the casting. Don't get me wrong, it isn't bad casting but apart from Nicholas Hoult and maybe Rachel Brosnahan, the cast is virtually unknown to most audiences.
I am actually looking forward to his version of the DC Universe but it feels like its destined to fail.
@@akilbrazier1421Gunn’s Suicide Squad movie failed because nobody was interested in seeing it. Period. It had nothing to do with Covid or HBO max. Lots of other movies that were released under the same circumstances and time made money so that’s a very lame excuse. The trailers looked awful and nobody was interested. Then the movie itself sucked.
