@@mitchmurda8749 that could work. Like Batman and Nightwing are working on a case and it's related to their early days when he was Robin. That could be a cool story device. Make it a mystery that was solved back in the day but new details have resurfaced.

I’d go with Jensen Ackles. He’s an experienced genre actor, with a sizable fanbase. He’s provided the voice for Batman in two OAV’s. He supposedly had a Batman related project in the works, with Greg Berlanti. He appeared as Batman at a costume party. Don’t think he’s currently attached to anything. Also, and this is the most important part, it’d appear he really wants the role as he has vocally advocated for it. Game. Set. Match.

Nicholas Hoult as Batman for the DCU or Jacob Elordi./Dylan O'Brien. I LOVE Robert Pattinsons version so want more of that universe for sure. But if there has to be two then so be it.
It's probably 2 or 3 years away before we see DCU Batman anyway and he can just appear in team up type films or cameos until Pattinson finishes up then they give him a couple solo films later.

I’m less concern about “who” will play Batman as I am with “how will this be a different” Batman in comparison to Reeves?
I would assume that Gunn is shooting to make a live action version of Batman similar to Peter Tomasi’s. Meaning being more of a “mainline continuity” accurate Batman.
Where he has the cave, extremely advanced technology, super-powered villians, Bat-Family,etc…
I'd love to see Tomasi's Batman on the big screen. His run in Batman and Robin was amazing.
Trust me, is not going to surpass what Reeves is doing,Reeves has more heart in his movies and is a better director compared to Gunn

@@mathijnd I definitely get that, but it still seems like a bit of overkill seeing that we’ve gotten like 3-4 different versions of Batman in the past 10 years. I know Batman is bankable, but I say WB/DC focuses on one thing at a time, especially since they have something decent going with The Batman/Joker etc.
In my opinion batman is the hardest dc role to play.
He is a man with a lot of pain, sadness and trauma. This is a difficult thing to portray realistically as an actor. They need an actor with the skill of jake gyllenhall.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be a perfect Batman cast
James Gunn should hire completely new faces...the same way Hugh Jackman came on the scene as Wolverine. Fresh faces to focus on story first!
A lot of Rob's choices would make a good Robin or Nightwing, but none of them scream Batman

I agree that Jake Gyllynhall is probably my #1 choice as well.
He is young enough to play the role the next 6-8 yrs if he wants and is such a incredible actor.
Although i would just stick w Pattinson if he is willing to do the work needed and is commited to the role.
John's list was interesting & Robs was tearfully funny. To cast batman is very difficult because of amazing actors like Michael Keaton who made the character their own with none of the physical attributes needed to play the role. To then Ben Afleck who is physically all you could want for a Batman and Bruce Wayne. If they did pick Alan Richardson to play Batman, think of the size of actor to play superman. HOLY CRAP.

i thank Alan Ritchson is perfect for batman. he has the whole look perfect, he can be witty and sarcastic but if he got angry he would be scary as anything, he's the only one on the any of those lists that would genuinely scare me shitless in the cowl
I don’t know why we can’t just have Robert Pattinson as the main Batman. Damn the elseworlds situation, it’s just gonna confuse people. Robert Pattinson has checked every single box, and literally embodies and embraces the Batman, to a ‘T’. If they continue on this route it’s gonna look bad down the line. Imagine audiences comparing the performances of actors playing the same characters. You’ll get questions such as, “who did it best?”, “who’s the better one?”. Which will only create more toxicity in the DC fanbase, then there already is. So if I were Gunn I’d tell Matt Reeves to get in line and make it work. That’s my thoughts.
gyllenhaal is fine sure, but I just don't see him as batman. I could see him as a number of characters, like constantine or green arrow, but not batman.
He would crush as Bruce Wayne with his acting as a rich playboy and talking with Alfred, but i don’t see him as Batman either

For all these new DCU roles, including Superman… they need to go with unknown actors in their 30’s. Unknown actors bring magic and immersion to the film.
I mean if they’re well known and a “great” actor. They do the same thing.
Agreed. Casting relative unknowns will do 3 things: 1) it increases the immersion because the audience doesn’t associate them with any other major roles abd they don’t bring any drama or baggage with them. 2) It’s more likely that they will be willing sign contracts for at least 5 movies each which increases the longevity of the franchise. 3) Their salaries won’t start out very high which should help enable WB/DC to keep the movie budgets manageable and avoid ridiculous overspending.
