I love Gunn's movies, but if this is really happening then he doesn't seem to know what he's doing. He wants to separate new DCU from the messy old DCEU but is bringing back actors and characters from it to new DCU. This will only confuse viewers and doesn't seem like a good plan imo, especially considering how the DCEU brand became a box office failure. Total and complete reboot IS the obviously better approach.
How is it different than bringing Charlie Cox and Ryan Reynolds into the MCU?

@@MatiZ815 Charlie Cox's Daredevil was already set in a MCU-like universe, as Marvel Netflix shows acknowledged the MCU events, but MCU itself didn't acknowledged them. The Netflix shows are in general very well received.
Deadpool is a character who doesn't taken itself seriously and constantly breaks the fourth wall, coming from two highly sucessfull movies.
The MCU movies aren't synonymous of weak movies and box office failures.
And most importantly, no big reboot was announced to happen with the MCU at all. Kevin Feige still leads the MCU and the MCU clearly doesn't have to prove that it can be good and gather interest from general audience (or at least, not as much as DC movies).
Again, completely difference scenarios happening with Marvel and DC cinematic universes brands.

Hi, a slight side track but still about DC; can you plase create a tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? He passed away last year, and was the sole reason I got into acting. On MsMojo there was a video about the best voice acting in animatedmovies and I think he should've been included for his role in Batman the Mask of Phantasm (the scene at the cementary). I have a VA background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's very underrated as Batman and even non existent in the conversation.
PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)

Wonder Woman 1984 , 58% rating and 170 million total box office on a 200million production budget (not counting promotional budget) . Not only was it a huge BO bomb, but is considered one of the worst super hero movie ever made. People also lambasted Gadot's terrible acting in this.
Other movie with her in the lead have similar results.
As I said, she neither have the acting talent nor the box office draw.

The Gal interview is from June and she didn't say that she is Wonder Woman, she said that shell be working on a Wonder Woman project with Gunn.
I’m glad that they kept Gal Gadot but I wish they would’ve kept Henry Cavill as well. They should’ve just kept those two and I never really cared about the rest.

It feels weird and unfair Gal Gadot could return as Wonder Woman but not Batfleck or Supercavill. Though I really like Gal Gadot Wonder Woman a lot. I mean she returned in Shazam 2 and Flash as cameos, so it doesn’t feel stupid or shocking. Keep in mind, WW84 and The Suicide Squad were released during the pandemic and being released both in theaters and on HBO MAX the same time. It probably would have been received better money had the Pandemic never happened.

@@aliwantizu this age argument is very inconsistent, considering Gal Gadot is 38 and Henry Cavill is 39. David Corenswet will be 32 on the release of Superman Legacy, he will be older than Cavill when he started in Man of Steel. Still Gal Gadot is kept and Cavill not. We will have a Wonder Woman from a (supposedly) different DC cinematic universe with a different Superman other than the one she was mostly paired with.
Way too much inconsistencies and double standards. And personally, I love Gunn's movies, but not going for a full reboot shows that he doesn't seem to know what he's doing with this.

Henry Cavill is great but clearly WB didn't want to work with him any more.
He should be so lucky as to walk away from that dumpster fire. There's been no hype or promotion for Blue Beetle, which they're setting up as another flop. I definitely don't see Aquaman II coming anywhere close to making the numbers it did back in 2017. As much as I love Gal, she is part of the Snyderverse and her role should go to a new actress, particularly one who is closer in age to the upcoming Superman.

Makes the whole decision of the reboot pointless. It was made to clean slate and mainstream. Now its confusing. We got animation, games and movies to all connect. Plus now parts of the old universe.

We already have that explanation Flashpoint happened due to Barry/Flash messing with the DCEU timeline. Hence why where getting the new DCU reboot universe starting with the new Superman movie.

Just like I’ve said from the beginning John. As soon as whispers were going around that Gadot, Levi, Mamoa, just to name a few could be staying, I knew it wasn’t going to be the hard reboot. I’ve been saying Gunn is cherry picking what he wants to reboot and for some stupid reason the best player on the team (Cavill) gets the boot. Gunn has only stirred up more confusion when he was brought in to do the opposite. Oh and that’s right, even Ezra might stay as flash says the director Andy M. I know it’s still early, but Gunn was never the right guy from the beginning.
Dont forget the reshot post credit scene for the Flash... instituting that Mamoa is staying as Aquaman goin foward...

Those Cavill movies didn't connect. Probably mostly due to the nonsense scripts and direction. But John just doesn't want to hear it. Gal needs the Arnold Schwarzenegger treatment. More action. The Big Three is the DCEU (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman) Should be recasted, since they were the face of DCEU. They did it with Cavill, and Affleck, now do it with Gal. I don’t care about Shazam or some others since they weren’t the face of the DCEU.
We talk about Gal not being a strong actor, but there’s a similar argument for Henry.
Not that he’s bad, but that he didn’t do anything special as Superman. Nothing that should dictate that he owns or is in someway owed that role.

The best Superman of all time is Christopher Reeve not Henry Cavill !! I really enjoyed both Wonder Woman movies even 84 . I don't get all the hate for it. I want Gal to return I think she great at the part as far Henry goes he's good but I can take him or leave him I don't think he' s irreplaceable . Henry not being Superman has nothing to do with who is Batman or Wonder Woman. His version was not working, the past iteration of the DCEU wasn't working. The only things working was Aquaman and WW besides the second one. I can see why they would want to keep the things that work and cut out what didn't.

I like Cavill, I would've liked to see him as Superman again as well but to say that his Superman was working is inaccurate considering how underused he was and how underwhelming the films he was in performed for the studio.

I get the complaints about Cavill fans about this news. Its a little hard to hear that Cavill got dropped as Superman because of a fresh start but Gal Gadot is not. The pick and choose mentality is just going to cause more long term conflict between fans, especially with regards to the big characters. If Gal Gadot stays on in the main DCU, I assume there is a good chance Jason Momoa also stays on.
I think it's a personal thing with Henry. They don't like him personally.

I don't have any current favorite movie stars. All my favorites are from when I was growing up and they are still my favorites. I like some of the current ones and enjoy their movies, but none will ever rise to level of my all time favorites.
They need to green light Snyder’s final Justice League film, Man of Steel 2, The Batman (with Batfleck), and then have Wonder Woman 3 open up a multiverse where they can keep whoever they want to keep

I liked Henry. I liked Ben. But I am a mega Gal Gadot fan like you're a mega Henry Cavill fan John. So I'm incredibly happy she's hopefully sticking around. If Michael Keatons Batman can coexist with the Snyderverse, then Snyderverse Wonder Woman can merge with the new Gunnverse. Now is that good for general audiences? Absolutely not. But for me, I am okay with this 98% reboot. But I understand why people are frustrated.
