• Henry Cavill Lined Up ...
Viewer Question:
Vincent - I’m totally with you and Rob on the Henry Cavill thing. He was the best, but it’s time to start DC over with a clean slate. But with that, we gotta start talking about who the next Superman could be. Obviously Gunn already has the next Superman movie planned out, so we shouldn’t be too far away from some casting news. Who do you guys think will be the front runners to be the next Superman?

James Gunn: we're looking to cast younger
John: has a list of actors who are nearly the same age as Henry Cavill
Exactly! Lol
Gunn just wanna make a MARVEL-ish world with DCEU
I’m with Rob. Complete unknown would be ideal. Reeve, Routh and even Cavill were unknown. And they became Superman. No baggage from other roles.
Top 3 Unknowns for Superman 1.Trey Tucker (from Heels) 2. Pierson Fode (from The Man From Toronto) 3. Abubakar Salim (Raised By Wolves) .
@@schizofredericcompositions Pierson Fode is an interesting choice.
DAVID CORENSWET is the unknown and perfect for superman
Clark Kent is a white kid from Kansas.
Kris suggesting David Corenswet certainly aged well 😅
Love you John, but most of these picks are just terrible lol
Exactly😂😅
😂😂😂😂
Lol😊
@Silk Sonic Not Andrew
John’s picks are terrible
“I don’t do X actor in X role”
To the fans who are mad at cavill leaving DC.. try to see DAVID CORENSWET he is like henry cavill, he has all the aspects of superman. He even looks like cavill.. he is the NEW SUPERMAN.
David Corenswet is the obvious choice here. Kris nailed it, as always. The only thing working against Corenswet is he may look a bit too much like young Henry Cavill.
He’s another beautiful brunette like the previous ones, only difference is he would make a better Superman than Henry.
DAVID CORENSWET is superman!
@@reannagordon I agree, Henry Cavill had the look of Superman, but he didn't act like a Superman.
35 ? You are insane. For a new reboot of Superman in his second year (not an origin story), Clark Kent should be in his late 20's. Maybe 27-28 years old. 29 as maximum. But not 35, you are nuts.
I second that
John did not understand the assignment at all
I’m not mad at Glen Powell for Superman, but I think he’d be a great Hal Jordan as well
I think hes destined to get one of these roles , he was good in Top Gun and i heard he was solid in Devotion as well ,
He would be the PERFECT Hal Jordan.
This video just solidifies Henry Cavill as being born to play Superman
John I really like your show, but holy shit balls, that's a terrible list lol
The fact that such a big show like this doesn't have David Corenswet on this list is an absolute crime. He is the chosen one.
True! David Corenswet is the last son of krypton.
im on this train with you too , he literally looks like young Cavill
Who?
@@moviereedviews idiot the name is there
Superman might be an alien organism, but Clark Kent is Caucasian. We need to stop taking that away from these characters like they don't matter. Using the "It's just a fictional character" or " he's an alien" is not an excuse.
As a black man, I agree. Stop rewriting iconic characters. He’s a white-looking guy, it’s okay lol
@@andrewtyler7767 Thak you. The same way I don't want Jefferson Pierce ( black lightning) or T'Chall or Miles MOrales or Jaime reyes ( blue beetle) to be played by white people, I don't want Peter Parker, Clark Kent , Bruce Wayne or Arthur curry to be played a black person or a person of color. It's not hatred, it's just logic.
@@man_the_nere So my thing is, let’s say you were to make Bruce Wayne black, are his parents now black? is he adopted? or are we just supposed to accept that this child is different looking than his parents? I only ask for logic too
@@PlayShorts3 facts!
“I don’t do X actor in X role kinda stuff”
Lolol right??? Wtf
I think besides for age we have to keep in mind Height. You can’t have someone to short. He has to be at least 6 feet tall
He's supposed to be like 6ft 5inches in comics. Even Henry was a little short at 6ft 1. Again I say Jacob Elordi.
I agree with Rob, they should cast an unknown actor.
Criteria:
Age: 27-30
Height: 6'1-6'4
John I’m happy your not a casting director. Terrible choice 😂 I bet John has a shirtless Henry Cavill on his screen saver .
I've always thought that Glenn Powell would be a great Hal Jordan
Some really bad picks here, but to each their own haha
They should cast The Rock as Superman, that way Superman vs. Black Adam would just be the rock in different costumes and wearing a wig
The look really does matter though, if he doesn't look like superman people aren't gonna show up to theaters, no matter what else they do.
Zack Efron?!?! Hahaha is this a joke? They want MUCH younger superman!
If they let Henry go in part because he was aging out and recast him with a guy 5 years younger than him I think people will reject it even more.
People need to get it through their heads that Cavill just did not connect with the general audience. Consistently underperformed in the box office. Gunn doesn’t need to justify his casting to anyone. He just needs to deliver a great Superman film, if he doesn’t, we’ll he’s probably fired too.
@@Pietothesky a lot of fans liked Henry Cavill as Superman regardless what they thought of the movies
David Corenswet as Clark Kent makes sense to me for the following reasons
1. Similar age range with Pattinson that way we can watch them age and develop for 10 years perhaps (if they ever cross paths somewhere along the way)
2. I know he’s from Philly but I think he can portray that Kansan midwestern quality Clark needs to have.
3. He has the deep rich Superman voice and the cute little hair curl
4. He looks 🥵 very in shape
5. Reminds me of Chris Evans playing that honest goody two shoes Steve Rogers.
He really looks the part
I had to look him up, but I definitely agree that he's got the looks.
@@flexchanI watched some interviews and a few clips of the shows he’s been in and all I get are good vibes with him. He’d be a great opposite to Pattinson/ Batman.
@@flexchan not just the looks, he has everything
Glen Powell would make a great Booster Gold.
What about David Corenswet?
They mentioned him
Im glad John isn't casting 😬
David Corenswet for Superman , Austin Butler Lex Luthor and Jenna Ortega for Lois Lane. Jacob Elordi for Batman
Switch them round as Corenswet is like a darker brooding, sleazier Cavill, Jacob Elordi from Euphoria is more the wholesome guy that Clark/Kal-El is.
Yes david Corenswet is superman.. but the batman is for sure pattinson there can't be another batman.
@@clarkjosephkent2876 It's already been stated now that they are looking for an actor to play an older Batman in his mid forties maybe to be directed by Ben Affleck, the Robert Pattinson version is it's own thing.
@@schizofredericcompositions it's john campea who said that not james gunn... It will confuse people if ther is another batman that is the problem in DC they don't stick into just one actor... Look at marvel if there is already an actor playing that role there shouldn't be another actor who plays the same... I think james gunn would do the same as marvel did.
@@schizofredericcompositions and also david Corenswet is just 29 yrs old
Jesus christ John's list is horrible
May consider the actors' heights next time? Superman should at least be 6 feet.
Glen Powell would make a perfect HAL JORDAN Green Lantern! I mean come on he literally is Hal Jordan!
This is depressing. 😢
David cornswet is absolutely perfect. He’s not well known he is 6’4 29 years has a classic look to him but is handsome. A little more muscle and he would kill it.
Agreed and I think Jacob elordi should be dcu batman
Yes him or Jacob Elordi
@@thegoat1951 thats money
Zac Efron is 5’8” gtfo
@@alexmaverick6647 to add 4 inches? His torso and legs will still look weirdly shorter than everyone else
Jacob Elordi or David Corenswet
Absolutely. They are both relative unknowns but have shown good chops and look like Clark and have the size and the youth.
All this guys are almost the same age of Henry. So No to all of them.
I think all those picks sucked.
The idea of making Superman a black man to me just seems pointless when the character of Icon exists. He is essentially black Superman and has a fresh and unique backstory.
Making Superman black when Icon exists is like making Steve Rogers black while T'Challa exists. Just adapt the black character.
Jacob Elordi- recently he’s been known for his role in the kissing booth from Netflix, great actor, great physically, he’s 25 but looks older.
He’d be a great choice. He’d also make for a good Batman as well
@@rl8259 maybe, I think Batman should be just a couple years older, if Clark is 25 Bruce should be 30 for example.
Can they just clone Henry Cavill, but 15 years younger. He really did have the perfect look for Superman didn't he.
I lost it when he said Zac efron 😂😂 I had to look up pictures of him as Superman and it looks ridiculous
John as much as I usually love your opinions, you should not be a casting director lol
If Andrew garfield was younger and bulked up... he'd be the perfect superman 🦸♂️
Jacob Eldori if he gets a bit more jacked… kind of perfect
I think that kid was made to be Superman with an edge. Can he play the golly shucks Smallville Clark Kent?
@@davidalexander-dhs-baltimo2708 funny you say that because I think that would take some softening to get him there. Might be because he is such a brooding presence on Euphoria but he does naturally look kinda pissed
Top five picks for Superman :
1. Henry
2. Henry
3. Henry
4. Henry
5. Henry
My top five picks for Superman .
Another choice of mine is Henry
Efron is way too short and looks a little strange after either breaking his jaw, hgh or botched plastic surgery. His stomach is also distended now from what looks like excessive hgh use. Be a good Wolverine though, so would Henry! 👍
They said young I’m thinking 20’s
David Corenswet would make a good Superman
Wolfgang Novogratz>
I really don't see anyone as superman. Henry cavill had it all.
Literally no one on that list could ever be Superman. Look up David Corenswet... he should be a major contender.
Lucas Till should be the next Barry Allen, Superman should be David Corenswet, Corenswet is 6'4 has blue eyes, works out and is young and gives a Clark Kent vibe.
Nice call, he'd be a great Barry.
I just looked up Corenswet and holy shit THAT IS HIM! Damn, Alberto, maybe you should be a casting director. You're on fire, my dude.
I'm not familiar with David Corenswet but I'm getting Tom Welling vibes which is a good thing.
@@MalcomMcLeod Welling vibes? The dude's a younger, taller Cavill.
Majority of these are terrible picks. Thank God you don’t do castings John😭😂😂😂😂
Look up David Corenswet , THAT is the new Superman 🔥🔥
Only If superman was a bargain bin budget Cavill-lookalike without the charisma and acting talent and added sleaziness (watch the movie Pearl) .
Wolfgang Novogratz for sure. Looks young enough to play an young, early Clark but also is reminiscent of the 30's comic book Superman with the jawline and dimples. He's pretty unknown too.
David Corenswet as Superman, Glen Powell as Hal Jordan Green Lantern

-NEXT SUPERMAN
DAVID CORENSWET IS SUPERMAN why?
He has all the aspect of superman. 6'4 in height, blue eyes, good personality, and even his voice is perfect for superman. There is no other younger actor who has all the aspect of superman. He even looks like henry cavill
John, you pick Brenton Thwaites of Titans but don't even consider Joshua Orpin of Titans who is playing a Superman clone, has the tight look, build, age (28) and height (6.1) ????

Trey Tucker, David Corenswet, Jacob Elordi: adding Wolfgang Novogratz, Andrew Horton, and Gregg Sulkin ( the last 2 are under 6ft)
Wolfgang Novogratz

I have no problem with skin colour, but keep the height in mind: Superman must at least be 6 feet tall.
Did this man just say superman aint white cuz he an alien? Lmao are we supposed to be blind now lol
yea
John says that all the time. It doesn't make sense, but he always says it. Saying "Superman isn't white, he's an alien who appears white" is the same thing as saying he's white. Honestly, I think it makes far more sense to race swap Batman than Superman. I'd rather keep Superman white and cast a Black Bruce Wayne.
@@KrazyJoesConcessionStand do you think race and racism works just by the actual shade of your skin and has nothing to do with ancestry and cultural background? There are lots of people that are black but have light enough skin to pass as white, doesn't mean they are white. Same principle applies here- Superman looks like a white person but neither his genetics, his ancestry nor his cultural background have anything in common with that of white humans.
@@Phelie315 wrong , because of the very nature that he was brought up by the Kents who happen to be white farmers from a fictional place called Smallville presumably in middle america his upbringing is human , his cultural background is forged because of that upbringing , god , talk about people not understanding the character. Hes curious about his origins just like any orphan eventually is but his values were defined by a good upbringing by the Kents
I think Austin Butler would be a good pick he was really good in Elvis and he's got emotive eyes and he had a hair curl in Elvis I think he'd be perfect.
Casting Michael B. Jordan in the role of Clark Kent after sending Cavill home would tank the DCU, however, casting him as Val Zod in a Crisis crossover...
If you think that then you underestimate the black dollar my friend, as Marvel lost their Black male role model you've got all this money being left on the table and if the next Supes was black, kids would have an elite superhero for them to look up to not just in the U.S. but worldwide and cast the right male, the black female contingent is not one to be underestimated also (as the first Black Panther showed if you have a powerful black male hero then you're gonna make bank on that movie more so than if it was white in many ways, compare the box office of Man Of Steel/ Justice League to that of Black Panther plus the fact Black Panther was way less of a known I.P. than Superman) and although Black Panther 2 is doing well it's lack of lead black MALE actor meant alot of black males didn't turn up so it's box office is down on that of the first one.
If we gone let micheal b jordan play Superman then let’s get Matt McConahay to play black panther. 😂😂😂😂😂 I would like to see micheal play blue marvel though. That would be perfect
I agree with Rob I would like an unknown actor to play Superman a fresh face no one knows
Terrible list man...Superman better be 6'3 and above, buff and white. Wtf is Zac Effron doing there?! Im black and do not want to see a black Superman. Smfh.
Look up Wolfgang Novogratz the dude is a good actor and his 6.3 has a charm about him.
@@Tibutary looks good indeed. Has the frame to put on more mass.
Duuuude, that list was crap! The rumor is they're looking someone like Jacob Elordi, specifically on his age's range and look.
It should be an unknown or the guy Kris Carr said (David Corenswet). That guy is definitely Superman-ish. He has the look and height just bulk him up a little bit.
DAVID CORENSWET is superman!
This is the most garbage🤮 list i've seen as candidates for the next superman thank God John is not a casting director or else the DC universe is more doomed than it currently is. lol.😂
i love john but yeah i agree lol
The next Superman should be someone we never heard of before. Tall, dark hair with a square jaw.
I could see austin butler getting cast as a young superman if he can put some muscle on (not sure he can).
I saw a superchat on yesterday's show mentioning Austin Butler as Superman. I could totally see him in that role, personally!
That said, I wouldn't say no to Glenn Powell as Superman, either
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I can see Austin Butler as Superman actually
David Corenswet is my top choice. DC could go with Jon Kent the future Superman in the comics and have Henry Cavill continue to play Clark as the father. But that last part is a stretch.
Bro I didn’t even know who David Corenswet was but I just googled him he’s the guy please James Gunn he’s the guy!!! U nailed that one
Homie!
David Corenswet a very proper sounding Gentleman! Perfiect for superman
All of these guys are so close in age that it doesn’t make sense
They aren't gonna tell Henry no and cast someone in their mid 30s. Just not gonna happen
I honestly think they'll go the no name route kind of like when Sony and Marvel found Tom Holland for Spiderman. Them having a 10 year plan for DC to me doesn't mean they recast Superman after a decade of DC films. Established actors are also less likely to want to commit or sacrifice in terms of having other projects.
I'm the new Superman.
Rob is right again. They need to go with an unknown.
mine I can picture it as Superman for now is Jacob Elordi.. I've a few clips from Euphoria.. he was great in it.. I can see Elordi both Clark Kent and Superman.. If Jacob Elordi been cast as new Superman, also I have my Lois Lane it is Joey King.. now both great actors of this generation..
I love to see them both in a "blockbuster movies" like Superman
Jacob Elordi as Nightwing perhaps?
I was actually thinking about him for Superman. I was watching Euphoria and I was thinking "I could see this kid playing Superman if he gets good direction."
@@realchocochoco to tall for Nightwing.. Dylan Minette as Nightwing maybe
I agree. I suggested him too. He's 6ft 5. Looks like Super man and right age.
I think Joey King is a tad young looking. She's super tiny. I say Sophie Turner as L Lane.
Oh...we are in worse shape than I thought.
What about Jacob Elordi from Euphoria?
Let’s definitely count Michael B Jordan out, that absolutely can not be Clark Kent, idc hate on me all you want but he isn’t it
I do not agree with the Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman is not white. His creators were white, he was originally created/drawn/presented as white and that’s ok! For the sake of inclusion, we do not need or really want patronizing casting. MBJ as Val-Zod or Calvin Ellis, fantastic, but not Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman.
I was with you till you said "his creators was white" Blade, Black Panther, Spawn, Miles Morales, storm and most Black comic characters was created by white people
I'm a Black man. I do NOT want a non White Clark Kent or Superman. It's a White guy's role. Same as I don't want a non Black Black Panther.
BP being Black is one of the few were race is relevant Red skull another and a few others. My only thing is he has to be 6"1 to 6"5. And I'm Black also.
@@reggiebrown9508 i think he meant representation
They were trying to help marginalised people have a character. Whereas white people don't need a PoC writer to make a character as white characters already Exist
@@reggiebrown9508 I hear you on that. Noted. I guess my point about the creators being white was that at the time when Supes was created he was done so from their perspective. Ultimately, for me, until most of the numerous heroes of color sitting on the sidelines are given the respect and opportunity to be presented in live action as they were created ethnically there is no need to make white characters black and vice versa. That is not true inclusion or diversity, to me.
An Absolute NO! To every pick John had like none of them look like a Superman at all! like none!! horrible !

Oh I hate the zac effron idea. Please no. He is a great actor but I can not take a high school musical Superman seriously
The reason why Henry Cavill was so great for the part of Superman wasn't just because of his physique, his charismatic Superman portrayal or his jaw-line, but because he understood the character as well as most of us Superman fans do. From what I know, he's a huge Superman fan in real life, and with that he gave so much love and passion to the character. He really WANTED to play that part! Not because of money, fame or to boost his career, but because he was a huge fan of the character. I'm pretty sure most of the names John mentions here don't even know much about Superman besides Kryptonite, Clark Kent and a chick named Lois Lane.
David Corenswet is right there
Yeaaaah
DAmn you are right he looks the part , can he act ok ? , I see 2 years ago someone put up a fan trailer of him as supes
Lucas Till would be a great aqua man i think more so than superman
The next Superman should be someone unknown, dashing young and has that Midwest innocence to him.
My advice: Superman should usually be a new face, or an up and comer. And Chris Reeve was 24 when he first played Supes in '78.
24 but looked about 40, he was a huge guy standing around 6'4'' and trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger to bulk up for the part.
Glenn Powell should be Green Lantern
Lucas Till would be a great flash
Glen powell should stay at home
Bruh I’m a HUGE Efron fan but c’mon John…we not casting for Nightwing😂 A 5’8 Superman would be crazy but mannn you hit the nail on the head with Hoult. Not only does he have the imposing 6’2+ frame thts almost a prerequisite at this point when it comes to the character but it’d also be funny considering he was runner up for Matt Reeves The Batman
