YES. The word "snub" is generally overused, but it is appropriate here. Same with no Scorsese. Both were in EVERYWHERE else. They haven't missed a single nom.
Don't you think the movie was more a thing in North America? As an European I didn't hear a lot of people and outlets talk about the movie, and the Bafta feels more like a European Awardshow.
I think a case can be made that LG was more o a supporting role, so BAFTA may have passed her over in what they thought was an innappropriate category.
Generally, I think enthusiasm for Killers here in Britain is much less than in US.

It's not as simple as that. Lily Gladstone is a front runner for best actress. This is a fact. She has been nominated for every major awards show so far. The fact that she didn't get nominated for the BAFTAs is a snub. This is not subjective by any stretch of the imagination when every metric and award show so far put her as a front runner. it's one thing for her not to win, it another for her not to get nominated when every other award show has her in the top 2 or 3.

This is a fact. We're not talking about winning here. We're just talking about nominations. So yes, this absolutely would be considered a snub when the rest of the industry has her as the top 3.

@@shalainbeltran6186 The art itself is highly objective, but the statistic of her dominating the awards season so far isn't. That's the point. She's been dominating the awards season so far, that's why she's the front runner. If she hasn't been winning so much, yeah it wouldn't be considered a snub. But the fact that she has been is the reason what it is considered a snub. If Oppenheimer or Cillian Murphy was excluded for best picture or best actor, we would say the same thing, because they have dominated the awards season so far.
The nominations make sense for BAFTA, it sucks not seeing Gladstone, but it will be okay. I knew All of Us Strangers and Saltburn would get more attention.

Lily Gladstone for me from the jump was a lock for best supporting actress. But when I started seeing that she's going to be campaigning as best actress it felt off. Now after seeing The Holdovers I don't even think Lily would win over DJR right now.
Not unless Lily Gladstone push for the supporting actress category by the academy board.
The BAFTAs need to be pressed more here and answers to why this has happened.

Lily had less screen time than DeNiro and he is in Supporting. She should have stayed there and assured herself an Oscar.
Only Randolph is cleaning up the category , so even that wouldn’t have been guaranteed…
I wonder if the BAFTA crowds thought Lily belong to the supporting category; remember that early in the award season she was campaigned as supporting first
I don’t see how Emma Stone doesn’t get the Oscar at this point. Her only real competition was lily gladstone and she just got destroyed by not even getting nominated at the Baftas. There’s a ton of overlap between the academies, so Emma Stone is Queen of the mountain right now.

Good Effort on how Oparah was pronounced
The BAFTAs are known to be the least inclusive awards because that is the British film industry. The British government, a right-wing government at that, said they had become more diverse or they would pull government funding for the organisation. Even the British government were embraced by so many black British actors becoming stars in American tv shows and films and not getting roles in British made films or shows.
Totally agree. I’ve loved her work ever since Reservation Dogs. Let’s face it… she’s never going to get the opportunities for work that Emma or Carey have and will continue to get… for obvious reasons. This is probably her last and best chance at winning an Oscar….
Gladstone was phenomenal… I think she should win at the Academy Awards. She completely overshadowed DiCaprio and DeNiro which is no easy feat.
Her performance was so subtle and nuanced.

I don’t get the Lily Gladstone love. Personally I just thought her performance was mostly just monotone and emotionless. But movies all affect us differently.
It's not about whether you get it or now. It's about how she is a clear front runner for best actress and yet she didn't even get nominated. Ever awards so far have Lily Gladstone as a top two or three for best actress. This is a shock that she didn't get nominated.

Her race and narrative pushing her to win didn't work this time. I hope Sandra gets this. I am pretty sure Lily will still win the Oscar since Americans puts politics and DEI almost to everything, and that's what is making her win ( not her performance)

I thought Lily was very good in the film but I wasn't as swept up in all the Lily buzz. For me De Niro was the best actor in Killers, probably his best performance for decades. Leo was miscast in Killers, they needed a younger, fresher face for that role.

Really shameful, personally I think Lily Gladstone's performance was incredible, the charisma and talent of this actress simply took me by surprise, I really hope she has a great career.
She’s only in the film for a short period - it’s a supporting role. Their mistake is trying to push her as best actress instead of supporting.

The campaign for Lily Gladstone for leading actress angers and baffles me. Awards is like an election, you campaign and you strategize. When the filmmakers demands that the said filmmaker is in this category you need to look the reasoning and ask the weight of this said and said person have a long shot to be nominate and to win. To be nominate and to win for the category is two different campaign. If the nothing awards like the critics choice picks Emma Stone over Lily Gladstone and Emma Stone is in the too six of the BAFTA’s means Lily Gladstone is very far from nomination in the Academy. The actor members of the AMPAS maybe the voting body but they don’t decide which actors are nominate. Sometimes the Academy course correct the campaign, and lets hope that Lily Gladstone to be nominate in the supporting role.

Lily Gladstone is a supporting character in that movie, she is the leading actress because she is the only leading actress in that movie. Scorsese did not give her center- stage prominence, she is immediately demoted and relegated to a bedridden character. Period. She does not shine as she should have because that's the way it was in the film.
Sure you can say all that, but the fact of the matter is, she's been nominated for lead actress and winning the most in the awards season so far. This is a fact. That's why she's considered as one of the front runners.

It is the ten year anniversary of Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto not getting Bafta nominations for Dallas Buyers Club and yet both went on to win Oscars in their respective categories. I hope Lily Gladstone gets nominated on Tuesday.
