So, the lady at 23:30 made me furious. I have been a ride operator for my summers, and what she did was completely inappropriate and dangerous. The person on the speaker was yelling at her to get back on the ride and to remain seated. They can only fix the ride if everyone is in their proper safe zone, so a guest's safe zone is in the ride seated. I am willing to bet that she got thrown out of the park for doing this and putting her children at risk. If the ride breaks while you are on it, you must remain seated, or you may cause yourself injuries.

    • @dhi_holo

The only time you should ever leave a ride vehicle mid-ride is if someone is guiding you out who actually works there
I've had it happen a couple times while at different Disney parks, most memorable being the Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World, Florida) Haunted Mansion, and Disneyland (California)'s Alice in Wonderland dark ride.
Getting to get off the ride and walk through some backstage areas is neat, but it's never something you should do without being told to.
Bonus story because it's the main character subreddit so frick morals (/hj), one time on a tour at WDW, we actually got to go on the Haunted Mansion and skip the queue, and because of how the tour queue skipping works, we actually got on at the exit and went around the section between the exit and loading bay, it's basically just pitch black but it's super cool to get to experience stuff like that just once in life, most other rides you get to go on have the exit like, 3 metres away from the regular loading bay so there's nothing "hidden" to see doing this

    • @craiggo6062

@@dhi_holo Exactly! You are only able to leave the mid ride if you are led by the operators. I got a funny story on how I had to get evacuated from the ride I worked on a couple summers ago. So I work on a roller coaster and worked the opening shift for the day. The ride itself was already having some troubles but it was on and off. I went to ride it after changing my clothes and got stuck on the ride. They tried to have it keep going a couple times but failed each time, so I had to get evacuated off and be led by my co-workers. I thought it was really amusing.

I have no sympathy for Karens claiming anxiety or asthma for wearing masks. I freak out when my mouth and nose are covered by cloth, and I have asthma. I keep myself calm for the anxiety, I go in, I get out. As for the asthma? It has no effect at all! Oxygen molecules are tiny (talking picometer scale) and can pass through masks easily! As can any CO2 that you're breathing out.

Best not to generalize. I have asthma and severe anxiety, and my pulse ox routinely tanks on masks. It was a big enough issue when I was hospitalized for sepsis during the early days of COVID that they had to require full PPE for anyone entering my room, because it just wasn’t possible to safely have me in one. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And while it’s great you can control your anxiety, not everyone has that level of control - if we did, anxiety wouldn’t be so debilitating.

@@khills I am not trying to negate what you are saying with this response, so if I do, I'm sorry, that is not my intention. What I came here to say is: I think what differentiates you (and others who have valid concerns and issues surrounding wearing masks) from the type of people OP is talking about is the word "Karen" in OP's post. If you're not being rude or intrusive in the way you deal with masks, you're not a Karen for having asthma and anxiety. That's my takeaway from the original comment, but it is good to point it out for those who may interpret that as "all people who do this are [this]". As a fellow person who hated masks and has asthma and anxiety but was able to tolerate it more, I hope you are able to be more mask-free than before. 😌

I was the laboratory manager of an independent lab during the pandemic and we did both sample collection and testing. For people that wouldn't wear masks, including for anxiety reasons, we would come outside and take the sample with them in their car through the window. I worked with a number of patients about ways to wear masks that can reduce anxiety (like different strap configurations or decorating the mask so it doesn't appear so medical).
That woman did not strike me as having anxiety around masks. She just didn't want to wear one because freedom or whatever.

That swimming pool one is honestly not a terrible, um... "social experiment" I guess.
I almost drowned at a pool as a preteen because some random toddler with a life vest decided to start climbing on my head. Couldn't go under to get him off cause of the life vest, and I was too deep to stand up. Kept screaming for help every time my head was above water, and zero people even bothered looking. I got lucky and managed to elbow the kid off me. People suck.

@@jasonking7570 No, you are correct. It's called the Bystander Effect.
It's often cited as a reason for the death of Kitty Genovese.
But, here's the Dark Secret about Kitty Genovese's death: It was due to _systemic homophobia._ Kitty was lesbian. Most of her neighbors were gay men or lesbians. And this was before Stonewall.
When neighbors heard Kitty's screams, _many did call 911._ But, they had to be anonymous about it. Someone even went outside to chase off Kitty's attacker and administer first aid while waiting for the ambulance. But, they couldn't admit to it afterwards, because that would've focused attention on them. And in the days before Stonewall, getting attention could get you outed, which _would_ get you fired, thrown out of your apartment, or killed.
So, when The Press showed up, asking questions and shoving microphones in people's faces, they were all terrified of being outed. There's a famous quote of one guy, trying to escape from the newsman, saying, "I … I … didn't wanna get involved." What he would have said, were this post-Stonewall, was, "I'm a big old queer; if I call the cops, they'd arrest _me,_ not help Kitty. And they'dve arrested Kitty for being a lesbian. But you're not gonna report that, oh no, are you? That's a truth you and your viewers can't handle. So why don't you get out of my face and forget we ever had this conversation."

100% this. The main delivery app in my country even had a scandal about pocketing a large percentage of the in-app tip as their 'service fee' so for every € the driver got cents. It was a large enough deal that they had to add a disclaimer to their site that now, 100% of it goes to the driver. But even then, I was raised when the internet was in its infancy, and we used to order food via phone if anything- and then pay cash at the door. I've always paid a tip, and even today when I order via app and pay electronically, I still always give the tip in cash. It's part of the food ordering experience for me, and p much all the drivers for the restaurants I'll order from know this. it helps that a lot of them have only 1-3 drivers, so they all know my address means cash tip. (I don't get to order out food a lot but when I do I make sure to have a decent tip ready) I think it's more widespread still in some countries compared to others to tip in cash as well. That said I have a friend who orders food frequently, makes really good money, and she NEVER tips. It's something I don't get at all. it may not be life or death important in my country as compared to the US for example, but it's nowhere near a well-paying job either.

26:26 That lady who wants underpaid workers to stay in the store an hour longer to infect them with covid and probably not even buy enough to make up for it in terms of money.
I do have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and have had social anxiety.
Sometimes bad air in buildings or public transport can "trigger" intense anxiety. My suspicion is that it's someting like low oxygen or anything that's giving my lungs a hard time to expand full (shortness of breath or any sign of "not enough air/oxygen" can get picked up by the subconscious, that is overly sensitive to any possible thing that should trigger fear.
This is a monkey part of our brain and it hasn't quite evolved to deal with longer term stress like work place or school/uni. Anxiety Disorder means that it is in constant alert mode, because it became overly protective as a result of some kind of stress. Genetics decide how prone you are to develop it, so for more resistant folks the trigger would need to be bigger.)
So that sort of thing can lead to anxiety. Anxiety attack is usually a synonym can also mean a state of constant lower anxiety - so not a full on panic attack, but rather heavy brain fog, a kind of freeze reaction, everything feeling heavy and dissociation (that's what I usually experience, it can vary a lot for each person and also change over time).
So these were all the points that I can give to that person (read: Karen). A mask never caused that for me, actually it was sometimes more pleasant when air was a little filtered and felt a little less cold or there was less smell coming through. In terms of anxiety it would make a much more of a difference depending on the overall air quality in this shop, and she didn't even go there to check, a mask shouldn't make a big difference either way. And nobody is gonna say anything if the mask is a little loose to breath easier, most masks didn't fit 100% anyway. She obviously has no social anxiety, so the only point was to avoid wearing a mask, not the crowd.
Additionally, if you have something like generalised anxiety disorder, any kind of stress can make the anxiety worse, so by satan I wouldn't wanna argue with anyone, I've actually become really good at avoiding (inner and outer) conflict for my own good.
IN CONCLUSION: She gives anxiety a bad name and just uses it as a shield. You could get a note from a doctor if that would actually be the case. My therapist would've probably told me to visit a different store or buy online if I was in her situation. Or if it's really nessecary (and you are privileged like this white-gold birch in the video) you can also buy some medication or placebo at least to help with sudden anxiety. I am sure it exists in the us and a where you can buy medication like it's toilet paper!
Okay one last thing: I don't know a lot about child birth, but I know that shortness of breath can happen especially when the fetus got pretty big and is taking up space. Let's just say that I would be in a constand anxious state at that stage even with medication, because I seem to be quite sensitive to air and not being able to breath fully. Not sure this would be the decision I would make - especially when I already have kids at home and need to have less stress to cure my anxiety disorder.
