      @Amayawolf_01 Před 3 měsíci +472

      Lmao yeah it's wild. I think the reason why this subreddit always has so much content is because young women and girls want to feel individualized rather than stereotyped with all the typical feminine stuff like dresses and makeup, but they all pick the same things and have thus created a whole new stereotype. So in order to escape the "emo/goth tomboy gamer girl" stereotype that has been created by edgy teenage girls trying to be different they've decided to go towards 50s housewife instead. My sister and I had drastically different personalities, she was more feminine and liked to do her nails meanwhile I was a tomboy who liked to play videogames and mostly wore my brother's old clothes that were too small for him, but I never saw a reason to hate on her for that difference lmao. I hated skirts and dresses as a kid but I enjoy wearing them occasionally as an adult just because I'm in the mood to be a bit more feminine
      These girls fr just don't understand that you can be different without making your entire personality revolve around being different, and you'd think that after enough memes like these they'd realize that they, in fact, _are_ like other girls lmao

      Its funny because my mom is Stay at Home and most definitely a believer and defender of woman's rights.
      It was just her personal choice because she would rather spend time with us. She's still incredibly strong and most definitely not a ''traditional submissive wife''.
      Our dad often cooks the meals when he comes back from work early enough 😜
      And she (and I) are always the ones constructing new furniture in the house, because we're way more patient and better with it than him.
      Its just a very healthy house where everyone deals with what they do best and can live their lives like they want.

    I live in Alberta. All the "Farm Girls" I know are badass. They wear blue jeans and steeltoe boots, drive transport trucks and megamachinery. These woman are savvy business people who negotiate internationally to sell their crops and run multimillion dollar farms. Fun fact: being a stay-at-home housewife who doesn't work and just takes care of the home is a very "rich, white American" thing. Lower-class women, including women of color, always had to work.
    As far as feminism is concerned with work (because feminism is not just about work), the point wasn't to get women to work - it was to get them paid for their work the same as men, as well as allow them into jobs that were historically men's domain.

      (apologies in advance for my english, my sentence might be poorly worded) I think whenever there's a new trend, or more like something that's generally common that becomes popular among girls/women of specific age, they get stereotyped based on that trend and girls who don't want to be put in the same box as the rest in order to avoid getting stereotyped by men, they present themselves as the opposite. A couple years ago, let's say in 2016-18, super bold, bronze makeup with thick brows was the trend, watching makeup artists on youtube was quite popular, a lot of girls would bleach their hair and use fake tan (and they ate that up fr) so those who wanted to be different from the rest and would portray themselves as the black sheep, nobody understands them etc would say stuff like "i'm not like other girls, i don't wear makeup and i listen to heavy metal" idk just an example. But going from 2020 and forward there was a big rise in women who would open up an OF account as an opportunity to make more money (that was during covid when a lot of people lost their jobs so taking on an online side hustle was a great way to make money fast) and then there was the rise of Andrew Tate who would preach about being a sigma male werewolf who rides into the sunset on his badass motorcycle or wtv and he would preach about trad gender roles, shit on western women which influenced a surprising amount of guys, especially those lonely guys who have no friends no father no mother no bitches no job no hobbies and NOW women who want to appeal to those men and put other women down in order to win brownie points from the boys like to portray themselves as God loving trad wives who think modern feminism is a mistake and women should only appeal to men. Even though the entire point of modern feminism is to be able to make the choice for yourself- like nobody's stopping you for living a traditional lifestyle if that's what speaks to you. Anyway sorry for the extra long comment

      Everything is a reactionary grift these days.
      Right-wingers get bilked at every turn by anyone who has an in and no principles.
      It's this weird rightoid economy system that gets fed from the top by billionaires who want to not be taxed and hate minorities. So they employ any group that professes those ideas and you get a race to the fringe with ever more extreme statements to stand out from the sea of grifters.
      With the open collaboration of Christian institutions, conservative politicians and fascist demagogues, you see an increasingly solid front of right-wing counter-culture that dictates every aspect of your life on the right.
      And you go down the food chain of political advocation, you end up with trad wife influencers who hawk the delusion that a stay-at-home life in luxury is achievable or easy, and not isolating and fostering abuse.
      Because there is a stupid loser guy who wants to be pandered to, no matter what platform you're on.
      Trad wife influencers did not just happen. They are produced by a concerted effort on the right to take over the nation and turn it into a Christo-Fascist dictatorship.

      The history of the women's suffrage movement in the USA and England is fascinating and deeply enmeshed in class-- most of the leaders and most visible members of the movement were middle-class women who had the leisure time to devote to the cause. Working class women definitely were willing to fight for the vote but their efforts were often rejected by middle class activists because they thought it was bad optics. In the US that went double for black women. It is really interesting, messy history

That's what Scandinavian countries have, they're social democracies. It's still capitalism, but if capitalism had a face-full of makeup and a nice little bow on its head so it looks less ugly and rigged. It's capitalism with a massive welfare state, so more free stuff, less homelessness and affordable necessities. All the things america needs, tbh.

    So, all of these "tradwives" want to return to the "traditional family" of the 1950s… TV shows.
    Because that's the lifestyle they're describing: what was portrayed in 1950s TV shows.
    But it's worse than, "They wanna live in a TV-show."
      You see, all of those 1950s TV shows like "Father Knows Best," "The Donna Reed Show," "Leave It to Beaver," and so on, weren't even shows, they were _commercials._ They were full of product-placement for appliances, cars, and other products associated wtih life in the suburbs. In fact, those 1950s shows were _actually_ half-hour long advertisements for life in the suburbs.
    So what these people want to "return to" not only never existed, but was actually a 30-minute commercial in episode-form. _They want to live a lifestyle based on 1950s TV commercials._ How perverse is that?

      I can tell you, from stories that my parents and aunts tell of growing up in the 1950s, that life _WAS NEVER LIKE_ what these "tRaDiTiOnAl FaMiLy" people think it was - _or_ anything like the 1950s TV shows, for that matter. That whole, "It takes a village," thing? Yeah, _that_ is how people lived: In _communities._ Even in the cities or the suburbs, you had _neighborhoods_ that acted socially in the same way that small villages did. Also, Capitalism hadn't torn apart extended families yet, so people still had aunts, uncles, great-aunts&uncles, grandparents, etc. still living relatively nearby.
      Nuclear families _aren't healthy._ Not for the kids. Not for the parents. It puts too much pressure on too few people. The _only_ time in history and across cultures when a "father+mother+kids"-family works is *_in the aristocracy_* … when that "family" also was independently wealthy and had an entire staff supporting them [if not actually doing most of the work of raising the kids].

Etc. etc. It's not a _bad_ thing to want a farm life, but it's so obvious they have no idea what thing a farm life might actually entail. Seriously :'D Anyone who says they're going to milk cows in a pretty dress imagines some idealized poster of a pinup milkmaid or something, having like one cow in a cutesy wooden barn. I imagine the reality of it is more like "We have 35 cows in this huge modern barn, it is 5 am and me, my husband and our two workers are starting with guiding the cows to the milking units, we need to get this shit done by 6 so we have time to clean the enclosures". Also I've driven by farmland, and you don't have to be close to the cows to know what the smell is like. I've also been to a barn and it's quite pungent, although you do get used to it pretty fast. I'd say a pretty dress, while it might brighten your mood, will be super impractical, get stuck on things and probably get chewed on by a cow, and be dusty and smeared with feces by the end of the shift :D

      @olgahein4384 Před 3 měsíci +66

      Yeah, they want to be Marie Antoinette during her 'royal shepherdess' period or what we call today the cottagecore aesthetics. The reality is that, if you want fresh eggs for breakfast, you have to get up early (ideally before the rooster, cause he'll want to kill you for trying to steal his unborn children), before sunrise. Then you have to walk into the chicken coop and try to get rid of the chickens who laid eggs. Then you have to collect the stil warm and smelly eggs full of poo and try to sneak them into the house without the mother hen noticing and start a riot that will bring in the rooster (who then will try to kill you). Once inside the house you have to clean those eggs and especially your hands, so you won't die from bacteria from the poop. And then you have to make breakfast with those eggs, hoping sincerely that they are fresh, and not some eggs you overlooked like a week ago and where a half developed chicklet fetus will pop out from.
      And that's the first 15 minutes of an average farmer morning, if you have the absolutely non cottagecore aesthetically conform luxury of electricity, tab water and gas/heat.

    • @sashadoom

      No need to be ashamed - most of us are raised to care about what other people think, to buy into the idea that being beautiful and popular are top priorities. IDK about you, but I did aspire to be part of the popular kids' cliques until high school, when I realized that I would never fit in with or be accepted into that crowd, stopped trying, and went in the opposite direction. This was the early 90's, so I was all about the grunge - flannels, concert T's, long skirts, combat boots, as much black as possible, absolutely no pink...basically going out of my way to be weird and unattractive vs. making an attempt and risking rejection. Then somewhere along the way, I threw off the shackles of giving a fuck about what anyone else thought & embraced just being myself without regard to what "categories" I belonged to, and life became much more tolerable. Everyone is an individual, and at the end of the day, we're all just people. Competition and judgment are pointless in this context, though I can't say that I don't get judgey and borderline self-righteous at times, nobody's perfect (& some people do genuinely suck)😜

    i went to an ivy league school - the women were by far more engaged with the material and made better points, but the men would just reword and repeat the same point and get more praise from the other men in the room. men and women are capable of being incredibly intelligent but men have learned they can just take women’s points and get credit. if they weren’t taught that im sure we’d all be making equal points. also, intelligent people tend to congregate with other intelligent people. so if youve never heard a woman say something intelligent…. ive got news for you. there is an exception with some specific intelligent men who know their intellect can get them laid/attention from women, so naturally plenty of women who are not academically intelligent will interact with loads of these men and very few intelligent women
    ps. not being academically intelligent is NOT a fault; everyone has a strength and if intelligence is not yours thats ok! our society seems to only value intelligence and beauty though.

Its not about taking them out of one prison and sticking them in another. Its all about the freedom of letting people live their own life.

  • @iamsongforsomeone994
    @iamsongforsomeone994 Před 3 měsíci +499

    That first woman makes me so upset as a Christian feminist. Feminism is supported by the Bible, he supports equality between both genders and women being able to choose what they want to do with their lives. Several times in the Bible it calls out corrupt people for treating women like property which was the societal norm of that time. If she wants to be a stay-at-home mom and quit working a job good for her! But she can't tell other women that they have to do that too.
    Just thought I’d add this (4days later) in case you're curious I'm currently in a Bible college under the Assemblies of God denomination and after I graduate I will be perusing youth ministries. If you want to know what I believe then look up the AG doctrines. And as a side note, I'm not interested in arguing about my religion or why you think it's stupid. If you wouldn't argue with someone Jewish, Muslim, or pagan about why their beliefs are dumb then dont come after mine. The gist of my beliefs is, that God created man and woman equally, women are allowed to take leadership roles if they want to, submission does not mean relinquishing control over one’s life, and women have no right to tell other women what they should and should not do with their lives. That last statement is the one that is most relevant to this video and was the entire reason for me making this comment.

    Seeing all the bad mother in laws who hate their son's wives I want to reiterate to people that most people are normal and don't hate their inlaws. My mother and my dad's mother have always had a good relationship. My grandmother says my mum brought my dad back to her because he used to live in another state during his previous marriage, but when I was born my mum told my father to live closer to his parents so they could take care of them since they were very old and needed constant help. My mum's dad and my dad always had a cordial and lighthearted relationship. I don't personally know anyone who's inlaws hate them or anyone who hates their inlaws.
    And I also want to remind everyone that people can act like jerks out of fear and insecurities, not out of malice. Remember that movie where the recently married couple had an issue because the groom's mum was always critical and hostile to the daughter in law, and it turned out that the reason she acted like that was because she thought she'd lose her son. She assured her "The thing is, you didn't lose a son. You gained a daughter." And they repaired their relationship. Give people a chance to explain themselves and try to work with them. Who knows, you might end up gaining a really good relationship.

    I always find the "innate nature of women" argument to be so funny because when I was a child I heard that microwaves could make you infertile, so I would always stick my navel up to the microwave when I used it so I wouldn't be able to have kids🤣 Goes without saying I never had a maternal instinct, but shout out to those who do and enjoy that life (who also don't hate on women like me for choosing to be childfree)✌

      I don't have a single motherly/maternal bone in my body, I mean I was even annoyed by other kids when I was a kid. For these people to claim that women naturally have motherly instincts is infuriating. Even mothers giving birth (to children that they've always wanted) can experience indifference to their child once they've been born, and I'm not even talking about postpartum depression. A lot of new moms also don't even have natural instincts to know how to actually care for a child. After I was born, my mom couldn't understand why I was crying so much and didn't know what to do and my dad suggested that I was hungry. It took a man to figure out that I needed some boob lol. But yea, not dissing anyone that loves children and wants a ton of them, it just doesn't come natural to some people.

It locked me out of a lot of fun things because if something was "girly" I ran away from it because I didn't want anyone to take my interest as permission to try to force "womanhood" on me (e.g. babies, housework, and submit to your husband). But that rebellion was never about "girl things," it was about wanting to have control over my own life and my own body.

    American Christanity is weird and toxic. There can be different people and it be okay. No one is stopping anyone from being a tradwife in the US, its just not feasible when jobs are not paying enough for more people to be a single income household. I also think they forget not every woman wants to be a tradwife, and that is also perfectly fine.

    • @KRStephen
      @KRStephen Před 3 měsíci +54

      The thing is, they blame the fact that so many full time jobs don't pay a living wage any more on women having (had) the audacity to demand equal pay for equal work. They will claim that "when only men were in the work force, jobs paid enough" and that if we were to go "back" to that, everyone would be cared for.
      If course, they completely ignore the thing they want "back" never existed, that there have always been women who had no choice but join the work force, and so there have always been people paid shittily. They ignore even more that a lot of the times these women's wages, too, had to feed whole families, even in cases when the women did everything "right" i.e. when they were widowed or their husbands couldn't provide because they fell ill or were injured.
      They just want to control women. And right now, one way they try to sell the being controlled lifestyle to young girls is by labelling it as being some sort of rebellious. And so of course their narrative is "THEY don't want you to be trad wives. So show THEM! Rebel by completely surrendering to OUR control."

Without modern technology that’s incredibly time consuming and around 90% of the work is consumed by spinning fiber into threads, which means literally turning a wheel for hours each day to wind fiber (from cotton, wool, etc.) into useable threads. So yay, instead of working a nine to five desk job you have to spin a wheel for hours each day. Also don’t expect a bunch of pretty dresses, that much time and labor is *expensive* and all your children still need warm clothes for the winter. Oh, and if you fail to meet your deadlines, instead of you getting fired, the winter takes little Billy.

    Hahaha...the comment about "I want to milk the cows and feed the chicks" as if it's an "easy" life. LOL. Homesteading and farm life are similar but NOT the same and BOTH require a LOT of MANUAL labor outside of making sourdough and feeding the chicks. You literally have to get up when the rooster tells you to get up, gather the eggs from the chickens before they turn into chicks, feed the other chickens, milk the cow AFTER you clean her utters (make sure the bucket is clean), feed the cows and horses, clean out the stalls, lay new hay, then you make breakfast, take the kids down the driveway to get on the bus (if you're not homeschooling), clean the house and other farm chores, cook lunch, cook dinner, and if you're lucky your hubby will thank you for all of the hard work you've put in and maybe pat you on the butt for a job well done. THEN you get to do it all over again. Oh...and your day usually starts about 5AM and ends 10PM or 11PM. Yep. Real "easy" life. Oh...and there are ZERO "sick days" and ZERO "vacation days" until your kids are old enough to handle the farm while you and your hubby get away for a weekend!

    So you're right about the dog/bridal dress thing! It was a photoset one girl posted on TikTok, and most people were supportive until the comment about "nothing is uglier than an immodest bride." What didn't help her was that her dress wasn't particularly well constructed, and there are a lot of designers out there who design modest dresses for brides because a lot of women don't want to show off a ton of skin at their wedding. So her claiming that she had no choice but to design a dress herself was false, and acting like she did something revolutionary when there's already existing markets for it wasn't particularly well received. Also with this act came the implication that she thought all other brides were ugly, since she was the only bride doing a modest dress, according to her. So there were reaction videos of people calling her out, showing off designers who made more modest dresses, and making it into a meme. The general consensus was that no one would have said anything about her dress if she'd just shown off the pictures and not tried to act like she was above everyone else and "not like other girls"

      @@tomlxyzyeah like me and my husband both usually ask "Do you/ have some plans?" or "Do you need a car this weekend or can I take it" but I don't understand asking partners opinions on my own plans that don't include them and vice versa. When my husband goes to meet his friends to another city and sleeps there, I normally have no clue what plans they have, I don't even know what I would with that info. Of course for safety reasons it's different, but that is different thing.

    5:18 In America, we have a term for this type of mentality. It’s called, “Stepford housewife.” This woman sounds like she’s living in the 1950’s!😂

    You only get pretty dresses, feeding chicks on the homestead for a few weeks in the year. Its mostly shovelling dirt or shit in Wellies and an old jumper in the rain, or dying in the heat.
    A lot of people are gonna be very disappointed

    I had to have a hysterectomy at 30 and my reproductive organs were already useless by then. That didn’t make me a bad Christian or a bad wife. And my parents raised me to take care of myself because husbands die, or leave, or lose their health and/or jobs. Also, I was taught that children belong in homes with parents who can actually care for them.
