Awesome job picking - you seem to have a knack for it. I love that your first Lishi pick was a 350z because it was mine as well! I still have the 350z I bought in 2003 (and did a twin turbo conversion in ‘06 😈). I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.
That sounds like one awesome ride!! 350s are such a good looking car
So you a car guy too..emm..noiceee
As if I couldn't love the Lock Picking Lawyer anymore. Beautiful sir.
You're such a cool guy. You pop up in all the best places on CZcams.

(Lockpicking Lawyer’s Voice) Binding on number 8…
That killed me rofl 😂😂
Should have unlocked it a second time to make sure the first wasn't a fluke.
I’m a Locksmith from Louisville KY, I use the air wedge and the Lishi tool every single day. Thanks for showing the world a little bit of what us locksmiths do!!
Years ago I got locked out of my car and afterward bought a slim jim. Long story short I got it unlocked after my wife got home and unlocked the door with her spare key.
Does it not wreck the door seam?
tow truck drivers as well use the air wedge method. i didnt know about it till i started driving a roll back
also what criminals can do
I always thought it was magic.
Pro tip: when you use an air wedge, use it on the passenger side so that if the door gets warped a little the driver doesn't have to hear wind noise for the rest of their life.
Just bend it back. Put your knee on the Inside of the door and pull. Easy fix

Yooo, thanks for showing me this! I was skeptical at first but I bought a “Lishis” and practiced unlocking and starting my truck. I got so good at it to the point that I have successfully stole two cars in my first week! Thanks Donut and keep up the good work! 💯 💯
its just too bad that most cars that are over 20 years old all have chips

Aw, c'mon, they specifically said not to do that!
My husband and father-in-law ran a roadside assistance service, including lockouts. The bag is by far the most common way they got into cars, worked on pretty much everything except a Mercedes G-Wagon (the doors are too strong to wedge out). Most modern cars have shielding to prevent the use of a slim jim. And the coat-hanger looking thing can be very effective for lever lock style doors.
What about against Mr Bean's insanely secure car lock?
@@Cosmik60chainsaw?
@@visordownnno you idiot, a pipe bomb is the clear choice
Go to be careful using the bag as it can bend the top of the door frame. I got locked out and a road side assistance used a couple of airbags and a hook to retrieve the keys from inside.... I was just going to break a rear quarter window.
Anyhow, this was on the passenger side of the car. My then girlfriend and I were out driving and it started to rain... the water started leaking in through the top of the passenger door. I realised the top of the door frame has been bent out of shape a bit. ... to fix it means winding down the window and trying to spring in the top of the door frame a bit.
Donut x Lock Picking Lawyer?? The unexpected crossover that I am so here for
A combo I NEVER thought would appear; LPL equipment used on Donut!
It's the 2nd time they've crossed over
the first crossover with LPL was when they sent him a wheel lock to pick
Have we ever seen LPL and James in the same room together...? I am just connecting dots here people!
AGREED!
Jerry just casually picking locks is both incredible and terrifying lmao
Jer is a beast
Well the tool they used shows you exactly where each wafer in the lock is which makes it a thousand times easier
Locks are generally easy to pick and locks only keep honest people out. Anyone can pick a lock with a little practice.
@@SynicalBeats it's a super fun hobby and pretty cheap to start out! Most people have some locks already kicking around, and a basic set of picks is not expensive.
He may be doing it to break into your house.
I had to help a coworker break into their car the other night during lunch at work (night shift at an automotive factory). His carabiner broke and he didn’t notice his keys fell off onto the seat. I had to use my kabar to wedge his door open and use a coat hanger to pull the door latch. Was pretty awkward explaining to security when they rolled up lol
Took my mountain bike to uni once and forgot a lock. Popped the wheel off, shoved the forks through a lock that was already there, and put it back on. That was an awkward chat with security too!
@@milesofsky Several years back I went into burger king only to come out and realize my keys were on my seat. Both my parents were at work so I wasn't able to call them, and even if I did my car only had the one key, lol. Since my car was an older car that didn't lock the trunk I put my food on the ground and crawled through and was able to unlock my car. But of course a lady was watching me and called the cops telling them some lady was trying to steal a car. lol It was really funny to show the police my license and tell them how I locked myself out of my own car. Everyone got a good laugh and the poor lady kept apologizing. After that I got a second key.
It'll always be an awkward conversation when you have to explain to someone why you're breaking into a car, because if they don't know you, they'll obviously think you're stealing it, but if they do know you, they'll think you're stupid for having locked yourself out or they'll make fun of you for a little while while they help you out
Just got to say, about a month ago I saw someone under a tarp working on a car, so I pulled over to see if they needed some help and some tools and they took off running with the cats 🤣

As a automotive locksmith for trade, I normally use that first Break inkit, it’s better when it’s a single piece and not a 3 piece that screws together, and lishi tools. Lishi is normally the best option but sometimes the lock cylinder just doesn’t want to cooperate if it’s cold or rusty.
Normally the ignition has 2 extra pins or wafers to pick too
Pretty sure that door unlocks to the right, so picking it to the left would only lock the door each time and the wafers fall right back down when you go to turn it the other way
The chrome wire lock out tool has a specific vehicle application, normally 80's to 90's GM vehicles with the slide lock. They work extremely well for that but nothing else.
As you said it is vehicle dependent. In a Fiat you may get it to work since if you only slightly pull out the lever in the door the ar automatically unlocks the doors.
A new one can work on Toyotas, slide past and roll the lock open, although theirs was bent to shit, once that hairpin bend isn't a hairpin they become sloppy as hell, and can't get a good grab on the lever.

The trick to the Slim Jim is knowing where and what angle to put it. I've only done a few, all my own cars... Because I am REALLY bad about leaving keys in my car. Older cars are easier. Some newer cars have shields to block you also. The kits usually come with a guide to show you tips.
Also, I've seen a lot of lock outs working downtown. An inexperienced slim Jim user can do some damage. Don't get too rough or you'll be taking the door apart to replace plastic pieces.
Without a fancy slim jjm a hanger will do the job just fine.
Both times I've used a slim jim were on older Fords (my own 88 Tempo and a friend's 98? Ranger) and they both required me to push something down rather than pull something up. My first time looked a lot like the video here - I could make it wiggle, but I couldn't make it unlock. Until I accidentally pushed the rod down while trying to start over and it just popped open. I think I invented some new cursewords at that point.
Both times were also in busy parking lots in broad daylight, and everyone just completely ignored the weirdo with the slim jim.
I'm so proud of you guys for actually learning a bit how locks work!
And you even got a lock open! That's awesome!
Any time there is a "Teach a skill.." thing for a class or work, I always go for lockpicking.
People are so skeptical at first. But once I show them how locks work and demystify the thing, people usually have a lot of fun.
And every single person I've worked with has been able to get at least one lock open. People are just so blown away.
This is one of those movie-skills that is obviously misrepresented. But at the same time, is totally doable by nearly anyone with a little patience and knowledge.
25 years ago, after probably weeks of an annoying rattle in my '93 honda prelude driver's door, I pulled the liner off to try to find what I assumed was a loose screw or something. I found a whole wire hook thing - the third tool tested, fully inside my door. Who know how long it had been there.

I have a few " bump keys " I use when a customer loses their car keys and needs a new ignition. Its mostly older Toyotas and Chryslerz I'm able to use shaved keys to open and remove the ignition with. I did lockouts for years and the bag and rod is definitely the easiest way to gain entry.
I hate to sound weird but I locked myself outta my challenger would the bag break the window?
B96 Chevys are the easiest to use a pick key on
@@thathondaguy9670 With a 'frameless' window (i.e. no metal door frame) you do _NOT_ use an air wedge. You use a gap wedge (like the white one they were using when using the slim jim) to get enough space to get the long tool in. You then brace one hand over the long tool so it does not put excessive outward pressure against the glass when manipulating the lock/handle.
I also use some “bump keys” but for a different reason
Not for verticle lock knobs. Like Toyota. Wedge and a slimjim are much faster
Lishi's are fun but my work doesnt allow them. Ironically they allow the air wedge+wire hook rod which has the potential to cause a decent amount of paint damage.

Just take a ford transit. Easiest vans to break into lol.
All those old ford ignitions are the easiest all you need is a flat head screwdriver. Their only $20
For wafers general keys or jigglers are amazing on some locks but you need to train on the movement to give.
Opening and starting my old van regularly with this. Plus the gas lock cause it's a different key normally on it 😂
Any of my fellow lock pickers will agree that there's no better feeling than when you hear the click of the lock opening. Then again the frustration when you can't is also common 😂😂
That first click and the lock pops open... Instantly became my new addiction lol
Jeremiah and Zach are easily my favorite hosts. Very entertaining to watch and both of them (especially Jeremiah) are low key smart af as well which makes it even better.
Get outta her Jeremiah with you fake account 🥸
I enjoy all the hosts - they're pretty competent at explaining things. That Zach is model pretty and Jeremiah not only damn good looking but comes with...an endowment...doesn't hurt with many of us, either.
Nah they're high key smart, esp Jerry since he is an engineer
You gotta keep tension on the lock while picking it. That's why all the pins/wafers kept clicking back. So the entire time you're using the pick you gotta be trying to lightly turn it. By slightly turning the lock the pins/wafers get stuck up 1 by 1 until it's open.
Seen lots of Lockpicking Lawyer videos so know about this.
These two are perfect with each other I could watch your videos for days.
the air wedge is the method of choice for most shops I work with. But kudos for using the LPL's tool as well. Someone who gets skilled at it can do that really quickly.

Lishis are awesome. I never did cars, but when the Schlage and Kwikset Lishis came out, it made my life so much easier. I could pick, decode and code cut a key in less than 5 minutes with no disassembly of the lock cylinder.
This is the best advertisement for Covert Instruments.
If these two chuckleheads can use them, then they really work.
Said with love! :)
Half of these don't even show up on the site outside of America. Also you need the right lishi for the vehicle and lots of these tricks don't work on newer vehicles. For example my doors don't unlock if you press the button without the key in the ignition
@@KNR90 To the best of my knowledge, cars with mechanical keyholes are meant to always be openable using a physical key (or a good lockpicking tool), mostly for emergency situations.
Though that means the car is also vulnerable to be broken in, and the thief might just be looking to grab some nice expensive things one absent-mindedly leaves in the car.
I've found some interesting anti theft on my truck (2018 Ram). If the truck was locked and my window down... I've reached in the window to push the unlock button (not even trying to test anything, I had set my keys in the console while working on the property). The door opened right up, and the panic alarm went off. My truck does not have an alarm package upgrade or anything. So the alarm/panic function goes nuts. Could only stop the horn and flashing lights with the remote. So... I guess my truck has an alarm. Funny how they tried to upsell me on a car alarm
That funky wire thing looked like how we used to bend coat hangers, but we'd shimmy those around the glass at the top or side. Worthless even then unless it was straight and the pull-lock was easy to hook.
Jere - what happened to your hand! Speedy recovery!
I did the hangar trick on a 98 MK1 Fiat Punto when I locked my keys in accidentally. It was quite easy.
you can put the coat hanger down the window trim and pull on the door lock easily
Well dust off your coat hangers because Roe just got overturned, and "mobile technician" jobs are back in style. Cash only, obviously.
I've had to break into my van 3x (and my house too) because I've locked myself out. I'm either really forgetful, or a master thief.
Had a 92 Silverado, and its door key (separate key for ignition, kiddos) opened the door of any same generation (88-93) GM truck I ever tried it on. A couple of those people's keys worked on mine, but not all. SO glad we've changed how we do this stuff.
as someone who has been into locksport, you can see the satisfaction he gets on his face when the picking works - it's like a sigh of relief that you've done it
I've used my pickset to open the front door of my old house (just to see if I could) and it surprised my ex-partner when I walked back in as she had my keys 🤣
As a long time LPL fan, I've been enjoying this crossover content lately! Great work boys!
One time, I locked my keys in my car in front of the court house. I asked some tweakers with a truck full of scrap if I could borrow something to break my window. They said, "No. You don't need to break your window. We can get it open." They sure could and the cops driving around never batted an eye.
👀🍩👮♂️ wow
Sounds like San Francisco or Oakland.
Rock Island, Illinois
lol just break into a car right outside of a fricken courthouse. Now obviously it's your own car but the cops couldn't possibly know that. They just see a group of people around a car jimmying the door open.
Problem is, it's too obvious to be true that the cops didn't have suspicion
As a tow truck driver/roadside assistance person, the wedge, bag and reach tool combo is my go to for every lock out.
In more modern cars hitting the unlock button tends not to work, so a few methods:
Going for the lock stem and placing force between it and the glass to pull it up.
Going for the inner door handle and pulling the outer at the same time
With the cabriolet, you could also use the reach to roll the window down via the manual window handle.
Popping the trunk with an available button near the kick panel, floor, etc and putting the rear seats down
And in some cases on these techniques when the drivers side doesn’t work, the passenger side will. Not sure why, but it does.
If the keys are in the car you can also push the unlock on the fob with the reach tool, or pull them through the gap you make with the airbag.
My record for getting into a car is 4 seconds. 😂
I've wished for so long LPL would do a cutaway about how wafer locks work, thank you so much :D And it's nice to see him in the comments as well!
The air bag will bend your door! Dont pump more than needed to fit wire in. You will have a nasty whistle at over 50mph because door will not seal correctly ever again
Thats what sledgehammers are for
Can't you just bend it back?
does it matter ..you are STEALING a car lol .... not like it is something you are keeping.
@@UltraSuperDuperFreak Well, a lot of these items and techniques are used through more lawful means. Some times have to get into a car because someone locked themselves out or got to get in because it was left on the side of the road and searching to find any information of the "owner". Or need to get in because some asshole left a puppy or baby in a hot car and you really don't want to straight up break the window. Even though legally speaking, you can do that.

First tool is my go to, second tool I've never been good at but the third tool use to be my go to. Working for a car dealer keys get lost, keys get locked in cars, some cars don't have keys so you get a lot of practice. GREAT VIDEO!
I used to work for a national car rental chain, our lockout tool was a wooden wedge, a soft mallet, and a slim jim. We had to use it.... way more often than we liked. I need to pick up one of those air wedges.

I loved that you used products from the lockpickinglawyer. One of my favorite channels on CZcams testing products from another one of my favorite channels on CZcams. Doesn't get much better than that!
I used to work in vehicle repossession. I wasn't responsible for yoinking the cars that werent being paid for, but part of my job was getting them open after they came back to the shop. While I used a lot of the stuff they used here it is worth noting that no tool is one size fits all, and that most cars built after about 2010 can detect when theyre being opened in a weird way and still set off the alarm anyway. You can only really "silently" break into older cars. Air bladders dont work for vehicles without a full frame around the window. It has to have two hard surfaces to press against to make the gap, and if the window doesnt have a frame the window will just shatter in the process. At that point you wouldve been better off just picking up a nice rock.
I love the “you can tell how hard he’s trying by how slow he’s talking” followed by a shot of Jerry just intently focused on the lock without saying a word.
It was a joke, but it’s funny because it’s true
I just love these guys. Jerry not giving Jobe the tool at 7:07 had me in stitches. They could literally review garbage and I'd watch them... Oh wait... Thank you Jerry and Jobe for all the laughs, you rock.
All the door tools work wonderfully, I'm a tow truck oporator and use the long wire/bag, slim Jim, the gm/wonder tool, and many others. Practice makes all the difference

Me personally? I really loved the Make-up tutorial in the beginning. Even showcasing the product infront of your palm? Extremely professional. More of that please.
"You can tell he's trying hard by how slow he's talking." 😂😂😂😂
I've had to get into a car while camping with a coat hanger made into a straight stick and some dental floss tied to the end as a lasso. Used a few wood shims to wedge the door like the air bag does. Once you lasso the pull stick (doesn't work so good on the rectangle pull locks), spin the hanger to tighten the floss on the pull stick. Then give er a tug. Works like a charm.
Seems excessive, ive used just the metal clothes hanger several times and it does the trick by itself. From an 88 F150 to a 2012 Toyota Camry.
@@TTOS69 Excessive? lol it's a clothes hanger and floss? how does a hanger itself pull up a stick type lock pull?
@@DaveDefrane602 If it's a round stick-type there's usually a flare at the top. Once you get the string around the shaft and tighten it you can tug the lock up. If it's a rectangle shape there is no lip so you would need a different approach, but a shoelace might still work if more complicated and frustrating. Loop it over the rectangle part and pull firmly toward the rear of the vehicle and ease it up - and fail multiple times before success.
Coat hangers are just too flimsy to work any modern flip-locks without an excess of skill and/or fumbling. Some vehicles will open with a pull on the door handle but many will not.
And no one is going to do squat to a modern toyota/lexus with a basic theft deterrent system using a coat hangar... those are the most annoying cars to perform a lockout service on.
When I learned to slim jim working at a car shop I learned to place a finger over the keyhole as it carries the vibrations from the two rods attached to it so you can easily feel when you've made contact with one of them and then it's a matter of finding the right angle to manipulate it. Also you want your hand ready to pull the door handle as you don't need to get the car to fully unlock to open the door handle, usually just a slight push or pull with the slim jim in the right spot is enough to manipulate the door lock far enough to operate the handle and you should feel it through the keyhole.
The under the door tool is a wonder tool. Used correctly it’s great. You have to pull the wedges before pulling it up into the inside of the car: they’re quite quick. And come in a kit with about 20 other tools as well. Been using them for 20 years…as a heavy duty tow operator
Agreed. I've used the wonder tool multiple times for friends' vehicles. The trick is to know what you are aiming for. ie. Door unlock button, door pin, etc.
No shock the LPL tool was top tier.
LPL didnt invent the thing though, just carries it in his store
@@pyr0bee But, LPL does know what's worth it and not worth it, to sell it on his store. That's gotta be worth something.

Did not expect the van startup. Crazy 🤘🤘🤘
As a former AAA worker who excelled in opening cars, you did well with the first kit.
Always a good time when donut uploads a video!! Love the crew love the content! Keep it up
As an aspiring "locksmith" who wants to "work" for "AAA Auto" I loved this guide. I will be able to "help" so many people now ! ♥️
Godspeed and good luck
Get your start at AAA and move on to either a private company or one of the smaller chains. We no longer work for AAA because they started screwing over our company and we were barely making any money off of their calls. If you want to make money as an automotive locksmith, go towards programming and generating keys. It's easy to undercut the dealership on price especially if you can drive to their vehicle. Most dealers require the customer to tow the car to them, so it saves the customer quite a bit to call you out. It requires some significant buy-in for the programming equipment, but it is well worth it in the long run. It's a regular $250+ job that can be done in around an hour if you're proficient at it.
@@landryridener7793 bro amazing detailed response but I think he was joking bout stealing ppls cars
..do people not see the sarcasm in this?
You're definitely going to help so many people. They'll save so much money on gas.
The air wedge (I use a blood pressure cuff) and long stick combo is so good and reliable, I've used it to great success any time I locked my keys in my car. It's so fast lol. Just slide it in, inflate, and then unlock the door with the stick. Haven't had to use it on my newer cars, but it was great for my 99 Buick
I love the keyless entry number pad on my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. took me a few time locking my keys in there to start actually using it
I got so caught up watching this, I lost track of time and missed half a meeting, so that means this was a pretty good one.
I was thinking of starting a no new side hustle. Thanks guys!
You used to work at ECS TUNING!?! I just saw a video of you upgrading the turbo on a MK7.5 GTI!!! That's awesome!
I drove a tow truck for many years, and unlocking car doors the proper way is definitely a skill. You have to have good feel and a light touch, or you can damage some cars easily. Bent rods or busted bell cranks.
Many people now just wedge the door frame and stick a long pole in, but that can spring the door if you're heavy handed
gambling sponsor, nice
I'd like to see you try the wedge kit on the Saturn Ion with the suicide doors...
That was the most difficult car ever during my time working roadside assistance.
2021 AUDI A5 SUV with no actual manual locks, no unlock button, and would not open with a pull on the door handle... Or the 2022 Chev Camaro with the same setup.
Actually had to fish the key fob out of the owner's purse (still inside the vehicles) using the lockout tools to push the unlock button on the fob.
Both sides didn't have suicide doors did it?
My buddy's Saturn it was only the one side had the "extended cab suicide door" the other side was just a front door.
@@amzarnacht6710 the a5 is a car not an suv but the a5 and q5 have unlock buttons as does the 22 camaro it’s just hard to get to
@@Russianderpvideos I might've gotten the particular audi model, it was an SUV at any rate.
Both it, and the Camaro, and many many other vehicles disable the unlock buttons when they detect the door has been gapped. Pulling the door handle from inside does nothing and, with the camaro, there is no way to safely pull the door handle without putting a dangerous amount of stress on the glass. They also lack manual door locks that can be accessed.
@@amzarnacht6710 Customer could have contacted Audi roadside and they can unlock via network once information is verified. Mercedes-Benz system is called MBRACE. I'm sure Audi does this, I just don't recall the name.
2:50 I died when he was mouthing the alarm sound 🤣
I was waiting the whole video to hear a lock "binding" thank you for that
Without the beard Zach looks like he is in college still
Thank you for teaching us all Grand Theft Auto. I will now go and order these tools and become proficient in in locksmithing cars 😂
Another lockout tool if you have the tab on top of the door panel is a silly strip. Thin long piece of plastic folded in half with grip tape in the crease. It's the fastest and cheapest one. A long bar a wedge and a silly strip were all I ever took on car door lockout runs. Lexus' were notoriously hard because they re-locked the doors automatically and you had to time the door pull and unlock one handed.
Love that you got the pick from LPL. I find his videos interesting and also good to watch if your in the market for padlocks, code locks, bike locks.. just about any kind of lock you can think of that you might have a need for.
It would be cool to see a video on the different types of welding gases and their applications. You guys mentioned the c25 cylinder in a previous episode (75% argon, 25% CO2), but it would be good to know why that mixture vs a c8, c16, Cd8Ox2, etc.
7:57 you did got it but particularly older vehicles needed to pull 2 Times the door handle before it is really open
The bladder + stick was what the locksmith used when the central locking failed on my car. Had it open in no time.
This video also proves lock picking lawyer is the GOAT

Lishi tools are incredible. Really fast too once you get the hang of it. Use a slim Jim for most fords. GM 10cut is easiest with jiggle keys. Try a Toyota with the relooked sometime. Can be very frustrating. Then there is the mystery pattern needed for BMWs so they don’t go into lockdown. Great info for beginners! Nice job
🤣😂😂😂I about died when mimicked the car alarm
I can get into any of my vehicles in under 2 minutes with a bucket handle wire from a 5 gallon bucket.
It's just easy enough to bend but a lot thicker than a wire hanger meaning you can pull easier. Just bend it straight then then the last four inches into an s.
Jerry imitating the alarm was way funnier than it should have been
2 years ago I bought a 93 Chevy suburban.
By sheer happenstance I also acquired a 93 Chevy pickup truck with identical colors and interior.
The key to the suburban will unlock and crank the truck but the truck key won't unlock or crank the suburban 🤷♀️
The suburban is easy to unlock from the outside with the air bladder and stick method, but you can't do that with the truck doors.

I love the LPL collab! And ... as a car owner, i feel like advertising break in tools is the worst thing possible lol
Security by obfuscation is not security. The only way locks will get better is through necessity (widespread knowledge) or force (regulation).
LOL!
Yeah, I get similar reactions from people when I can get into their $200k car in less than 2 minutes without leaving a scratch.

I knew a guy who locked his keys in his 90s Silverado. It took a handful of us guys like 45 mins to unlock it because all we had on us was...nothing useful.
We eventually got it by a couple guys literally pulling on the door and a third guy hitting the button with a literal stick(like from a tree)
Literally?
That's too funny. This was me today about 5 hours ago. Got locked out at a gas station with no keys, wallet or phone but a magic stick from the counter guy got me back inside in minutes
Working on a 2nd hand car yard as a "detailer", it was on me to either pick the lock on any pre alarm/immobilizer cars or j8mmy the ones with alarm systems whenever the dealers locked the keys in the cars after moving them 2m in the lot. The jimmy is my favourite, after 10 uses it gets to be almost second nature, very few times would I fail with it and have to move to a door bumper and lock puller.
Frankly if I had a lishi all those locks would be done easily as we had bidding codes for every car already and couldve saved me some decent time.
Thanks for showing me exactly how to break into each and everyone one of your cars
Locks keep honest people out, not thieves.
