We installed car anti-theft devices from Amazon and tried to break into/steal our own car to put these products to the test! Is it possible to theft proof your car? We found out. This is the D-List!

This is stupid. Locks stop the idiots from getting in, and statistically speaking, the overwhelming majority of thieves are opportunistic idiots, and even if on the off chance you run across a GOOD thief, you're just making it harder for them.
Funniest episode I've seen. Max deserves a raise. The custom car alarm had me laughing so I hard I to pause the video; tears from laughing.

The purpose of drilling out the lock is to destroy the pins inside the lock, once the pins are gone you can rotate the lock the open it. But apparently just getting a drill bit the size of the whole lock works as well LOL.

One oversight they made with the key locking device was how easy it was to remove from the car, this would mean the car is unusable for the owner. The thief could take it home to open it there.
I thought about that. Like as a prank some kids could just steal the box and chuck it somewhere.
could also more likely be a spare key, so the owner probably has another set they normally use.
If you use it for a spare key, it takes a few seconds and the thieves have a copy of your key by the end of the day, probably within 10 mins. It's a terrible design

I drive a big truck and I have three keys. One stays on my keyring in my pocket, one lives in the ignition, and one’s hidden somewhere outside in case I forget the first one in the truck. That’s where a lockbox might come in handy.
The fart alarm made me almost hit the damn curb laughing. By far the best anti theft system I've seen. People would actually notice it instead of ignoring it or helping the thief shut it off.

Pro tip, install the killswitch under the pleather cover of the stick so it's 100% obscured and can only be found by touch.

I was listening to the video while at work and I was crying while trying not to laugh super loud.
Some walmarts started chaining up wheels of tractor trailers that were parking overnight, so the drivers walked inside, bought battery powered grinders, and cut the chains off! Lol

little tip for people who want to install kill switches: if your car has a leather cover under the shifter put it under the cover that way you would only be able to find it if you were told or installed it yourself

One advantage to having lived over on the West coast, was being able to have a Ravelco installed on my truck. It's an advanced killswitch that is hidden in your engine wiring, and has a separate cannon plug key. To this date I have yet to see a vehicle with one installed get stolen. Piece of mind while I lived close to the border. I'd put it up against Lockpickinglawyer lol
I have seen a classic Ferrari with something like that. It was like a plug that the wire harness went into and had a big round key with like 60 pins to complete the connection
@@CreepinCreeper01 Yea couple grand install on those due to complexity. Was a little over $500 for my '21 F250 a couple years back, now I see its $700+. Yeesh. But it's worth it knowing I'll see my truck every morning. Catalytic Converter though....well...I cross fingers I did enough to prevent that lol. But I'll be the first in line if they create something that diverts battery power to electrify or super heat the cats when being tampered with lol

I like the killswitch the most because it doesn't draw attention to your car by thieves and it will still make it difficult for thieves to up and steal it if they do choose to break in.
Manual transmission is still the best theft deterrent device out there, though.

Easiest and cheapest anti-theft protection: just pop out the fuel pump relay when you leave the car.

I accidently did this to myself while troubleshooting. Pulled the relay, dropped it, forgot that I did, commenced troubleshooting on 2nd car. Removed the 2 relays I needed from 2nd car, put them back in my car, wouldn't start. Later realized it was actually 3 relays... the 2 I was testing with and the 1 that I dropped. So can confirm, very effective at preventing the car from starting. 😂

And when you use that steeringwheel to pedal lock and you have adjustable steeringwheel you have to remember to put steeringwheel so down and so close to dashboard as possible, otherwise it could be removed by adjusting steeringwheel...

I had a 93 accord. Known probably best for how often theyre stolen. Got a club from autobone. Drove outta town to pick up a buddy for a 5+ hour road trip. The club lock jammed and wouldnt come off so I ended up using a hack saw his neighbor had to cut through it. Took like an hour. Great start to our trip lol

Putting the club on with the lock tumbler facing the opposite direction helps a lot also. I bought an Amazon version with thicker steel as well and a round key design
I think the kill switch would be an amazing anti-theft feature here in Italy, I don't think there are so many kill switch provided cars here...
They also make kill switches that are wireless so you can hide them in almost impossible to find places and keypad combo versions if you want to be all slick like Jason Statham in The Transporter (but those are easy to defeat).
When Nolan also sits on a whoopsie cushion I was howling, when the alarm went off I was in tears.

60 minutes did an episode a long time ago on how ineffective ‘the club’ is. Take a handsaw to the steering wheel and you can have it off in 30seconds or less.
11:20 we have the same one for a parked car. You can just flip it over the other side is made of metal. If the rubber insulated side is on the brake pedal it's harder to get a bolt cutter in to cut it. Is harder to put on that way tho.
I love how the actual car alarm went off AFTER you managed to get in and disable the kill switch.

I bought and sold Old vans and would convert them into campers (for super cheap) like free mattress off Craigslist cheap. And I'd sell for profit and I went from having Nothing to my name to owning a 50,000$ vehicle just by buying and making camper vans. Its a good hussle. I put solar panels on them too, wood floors, get supplies from used discount building supply stores and stuff thats on sale lol.

A secret to Club locks is to install them back to front across the top of the steering wheel so the keyhole faces the windscreen. This way the lock cannot be drilled out or removed with a slide hammer, this also defeats another weakness which is putting your feet onto the steering wheel & pulling at the handle hoping to break one of the hooks off. Something that happened to a friend when he returned to find his car missing & his Club lock minus one hook lying in the gutter

Best Killswitch: hidden magnetic switch and your favorite magnet
I saw one where owner had it hooked to the switch in the seatbelt buckle. It worked too they cranked it dead and left it. I gave him a boost and he started it with a screwdriver and drove it home. Nobody is going to put their seatbelt on punching an ignition.
@@juliogonzo2718 That's risky though, someone might get the one robber that puts on the seatbelt.
You could even go a step farther and put it on the passenger side. So even if the theif used their seatbelt, odds are they won't have a buddy that would too

I learned this on a TV news report back in the day wheel the Club locks had been out for a few years . The quickest way to defeat the Club steering wheel lock evolved 2 things . 1. A hammer 2. A can of air that you use for cleaning electronics . You would shake the air can really well and then turn it upside down and spray all the contents straight into the lock . This will freeze the internals of the lock and then smack it with a hammer . It would have taken much less time than using the drill and changing the bits. You could have probably done the same with the clutch lock bar . Jay Leno said it best that the best car thief deterrent is a manual transmission !
