Can you improve your miles per gallon with just ÂŁ50 to spend on mods? Fuel is EXPENSIVE at the moment. So, we tried to turn 3 cheap cars into greenified ecoboxes to save some money.
So letâs see what we did to the cars
Hereâs the challenge. ÂŁ10 of fuel in the UK gets you roughly 6 litres of fuel. We need to get to a pub that Iâve chosen in Bell End which is 47 miles away. That means weâd need to AVERAGE over 35mpg. Thatâs an easy job for your Nanâs Yaris, but not an easy job for these three idiots in these three cars.
So, the challenge was set. But, before weâd even left the car park, Callumâs TT was already causing him problems.

FIRST
3 bri ish guys oi must be like top gear innit
Fuel going down fast in an SLK320 is very normal ! Bloody awful engine on petrol , my 230 will do double lol
What can't duct tape fix! :D
Finally someone has managed to give top gear vibes to a show by just being themselves. This channel is a gem!
Lol, not at all, simpleton.
Sometimes, quality content is just doing sth normal people can't do because of money. And many of the old top gear challenges fall into this category.
I literally was about to say that but then i saw this comment đ
Finally someone compared a car show to top gear. Refreshing.
Agreed, I'm really enjoying their friendship-rivalry moments in their videos.
Scott revving the SLK 230 Longtail ECO MPG was hilarious đ
To be fair we would have done that too. I mean rev the engine of the competition
Iâm very fond of the SLK 230 Longtail ECO MPG
I wonder how much mileage that cost him
@@DIYAmateurHour 2 diddidleys
This isn't just funny in the usual internet, quick joke sense; this actually made me laugh aloud repeatedly. I'm so glad I found this channel, this is great stuff.
Even their more 'serious' vids are still hilarious and these guys are definitely gonna overtake (no pun intended lol) Donut Media in the foreseeable future
Check out a channel called Think Flight. You will see a video with remarkable similarity
I like how the TT was all covered in tape but nothing was done about the spoiler in the back, whose job is to literally grab wind and force the car down.
I recall Audi adding the spoiler because the TT had so little traction on the rear axis it was actually dangerous and unpredictable to drive.
@@Sugurain the shape of the boot caused lift at high speed.
The spoiler on the TT doesn't just reduce lift, it also reduces drag.
Whoa, you're conflating two different purposes here:
Spoiler = to reduce turbulence, and so reduce drag
(inverted) Wing = to create downforce directly above the contact patch of the tire, achieved by _ increasing drag_
or iow,
think about what a bird's wing flapping does - it contacts more and more turbulent air to generate lift.
Now flip it, invert it = downforce.
the spoiler is there to reduce aerodynamic drag...
This channel is turning into the proper spiritual successor of Top Gear. I like that.
I wish people would stop saying everything is top gear.
@@noneyabizz8337 I get it, but it made such an impression for so many years it's only natural people keep plugging the comparison.
More of a cheap rip off of top gear.. theyâre not only acting like the top gear guys but are clearly doing the same challenge.
It's not even close. Have you seen Throttle House?
@@noneyabizz8337 ok. Grand tour then
I love that Callum doesn't lose patience and just open the door, but stays committed and keeps climbing in and out through the window đ
Yes, covering the air intake seems very smart. No reason a radiator might need fresh air to keep the engine cool or anything
Making an efficiënt airduct for them and changing intake is too much work
"What's that"?
"It's for MPG"
".. Fair enough"
đđđ
scotts "I would prefer to be in sports direct even though I'm not a chav" had me dyingđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Yess!!!
Love that trio comparing the same cars over and over in new challenges!
Please do more stuff like this :D
If top gear really wanted to bring even a fraction of the success they had before, these are the guys they should bring in rather than 3 strangers who are forced to play pranks and be funny. Probably the only guys that give of the same vibe that doesn't look forced
Fax
Actually hope this channel blows up to ensure these videos keep getting produced. Sooooo good đ
I'm itching for more MOAR FAST. Hopefully it comes soon!
The Nokia on the dash of the Jag is pure gold.
How is that AUDI TT gonna breath đ§
yeah
Shows that these guys are journalists first and car enthusiasts second (well, maybe 10th)...
@@jrhpng I mean Callum has a degree in mechanical engineering right? He should not have been surprised with the outcome there
This is legit good. I get heavy Top Gear vibes but not in a bad, copycat way. I legitimately was laughing out loud during this. Y'all feel very natural together, which is why Top Gear did so well. Keep it up! Just always be yourselves, don't try to emulate them.
"TG vibes fnerrr-berrr blerrrr"
Why is literally every top comment identical. Who upvotes this swill?
There definitely needs to be a scoreboard of sorts at the end of every challenge to update us on whoâs in the lead.
I am with u dude.
The first team I've seen really get the Top Gear vibe right for a video.
such a top gear challenge and I'm for it lol. love u guys and hope u can keep it going!
Why was it deleted earlier?
Hearing Scott list all the places heâd prefer to be in my hometown was a particular highlight
closest we've got to the good top gear
Remember it's a budget top gear
@@hansghunter and still manages to be better than the new top gear
Now remember, add race fuel to get better mpg đ
I'm loving these Top Gear/Grand Tour videos. Keep em coming fellas
i _love_ these little challenges. not so much MPG, but all these _very familiar_ style of automobile challenge vids. 10/10, i always eagerly await new vids.
Got to hand it to that jag. It did well to get 34mpg considering its a V8 luxury car with an auto gearbox and was unmodified. It proves that it Doesn't matter what car you have it's how you drive it.
Very OG Top Gear vibes, genuinely something I hope you keep doing gents, cheers!
Really enjoyed this video! Iâd not be surprised if the only thing improving your fuel mileage was actually how you were driving, though. I managed to gain about 11mpg (compared to the claimed figures) over a 250 mile trip in my WRX by doing the whole thing around 60mph steadily on motorways. The trade-off was very much the extra time spent đ
As you see in the comments, you guys are doing some really nice work... This channel is getting better and better (funny videos, where u can learn sth, serious videos, where u can learn sth, the challenge with the subie and the Lambo is pretty nice too, and every video is spiced up with some pretty funny jokes... Even those serious videos are really entertaining) ... And yeah, I even would say, you're better than Top Gear... Great job âïž
Greetings from Germany đ©đȘ
It's feels good, because it's honest. Honest friendship and reactions.
Just 3 guys having fun
The TT reminds me of a golf 4 I had, the doorhandle didn't door...handle, so I had to get in from the passenger side or the window. Excellent!
that tape was put on so roughly that there's no way it's smoother for the airflow lol. the tiny length of tape on the door shut line that callum is saving by being given birth to by his TT each time they need to get in or out is so tiny and so shoddily applied that you've got to wonder what they're trying to save :D
I love this! This is how Top Gear should be!
This is the closest thing I've seen to Top Gear in a while. Great video
i just discovered this channel and it's like a mix of car throttle and donut media.
not even like donut media, but more like the old top gear and car throttle
Aerocivic owner checking in. Love the rigorosity of the tests. You guys are good for some laughs.
On a more serious note, 33mpg with the larger UK gallons is atrocious.
This channel is filling the hole top gear ending left in my heart
I love the fact that the jag is dead silent compared to the other two, when filming the driver.
Great video... And finding a town called Bell-End.. brilliant!đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Callum clambering in and out of the TT had me in splits đđ
This was fun to watch, reminded me a bit of classic Top Gear
Best trio I've seen since Jezza, Hammond and May, hands down, good laugh, good content, great work lads, idk how you can make saving fuel funny but yous done it đ
You guys are awesome, best budget top gear out there
Great stuff! Banter is always good! Do a long special! That would be epic!
We all know Scott gained so many MPG is because he must've drove quite spiritedly in the previous drive
he's playing the long game
Great video! I'm glad the irony of driving to a place called bellend was not rubbed in too much. đ€Ł
I was thinking 'how can that car cool itself' at 0:30 and was validated at 5:54, LOL
Genuinely thought I clicked on a donut video lol
Bro SAMEE
I thought I was the only one
Love how Will is obsessed with his insurance companies đ
just imagine how much further they could've gone without all that camera equipment strapped to the outside of their cars lol. good stuff
Reminds me of the old top gear. And thatâs a very very good thing ! Thanks foe the content guys.
6:30 appalling road surface at that parking space.
Welcome to the UK
The v8 jaguar doing 34mpg is by far the most impressive
If you think about it, Top Gear did a wonderful clip about it.
Remember the M3 vs the Prius one-liter challenge? The M3 won despite having like... What? A 4L 444hp V8 against a dinky 1.6L hybrid.
Sometimes, it's not the bigger engine that kills your fuel but how you drive and how big the tank is in the car.
Original Top Gear in the making
I canât wait to use Car Vertical to make sure my new car hasnât had the key twisted to bits!
British donut media? The thumbnails are eerily similar
I thought i was the only one that realized
I think I have seen that episode
But it was tg
Love the content
Keep it up
why deleted then re-upload
probably copyright
Either it was flagged or had an editing blooper
@@bagasanantawijaya no that doesn't make sense
Pretty sure they had some problems with HD not working or something like that. Callum was tweeting that the HD version hadn't uploaded if I understood correctly
To assert dominance
I would love to see a follow up video where you drive cars who have been modified for fuel efficiency and test the owners claims.
âA pub I have chosen in bell-endâ
Bravo. Bravo.
this episode reminds me of the American top gear with Tanner Foust Routledge Wood and Adam Ferrara, i love that top gear version
The nan used in that stock photo was my nan! She drove her Toyota conquest from Cape town to London in it! Her book about it is called my African conquest, worth a read
Very good summary. I like it.
The "longtail" on the SLK actually makes sense. The flat rear end is called a Kammback design and is used on various cars for fuel economy, the Prius being a prime example.
The top gear spirit isnât determined by a highly produced show about cars with 3 people attempting to make jokes. Itâs essentially three mates who like cars and eachother, thatâs what makes it funny and enjoyable. This is really good
This is the top gear we needed
Scott is like Jeremy Clarkson
Will is like Richard Hammond
Callum is like James May
this channel needs to be massively promoted
How can you say Scott won without knowing how far the other cars could have gone?
Covering the air & radiator inlet won't do much as it is a stagnation area (perpendicular to the flow), but wheels and flat bottom do.
Cutting a ~rectangular hole above the fr. wheel and behind rear wheel would be also a nice gain.
Insane how good this is for a channel of this size.
subscribed keep it up lads
Still make a boring drive into a hilarious joy ride tho cracking vid guys
These 3 are saving lives by bringing back the old classic
Top Gear Show Vibes
*Her-derrr-derp-de-Topgear-derpity-derp*
Havenât watched to the end yet, but Iâm expecting to see a very warm TT.
Ah, I love this crew!
I'm from America and I absolutely love these 3 guys, I'm running out of videos lol. Btw thanks for the imperial translations boys. I only practically understand Meters, gotta get on top of kgs
I love this channel, enough said.
This feels more like the old topgear than the cartrek episodes. Well done!
the best endurance race in history
1:38 Looks like Scott doesn't know how the octane rating works. It does not provide more power to these old cars, it isn't more energy-dense. It simply prevents detonation in high-compression engines, as found in new performance cars.
Having massive top gear vibes love it
This series feels like a nice remake of top gear
"I'd prefer to be in Sports Direct, and I'm not a chav" đ€Łđ€Ł
How can those vortex thingies decrease drag if the wind has to hit them before the vortex is created ?
you guys drove about half of my school bus route around stratford. I was just watching thinking ooo they're going to go past currys in a minute lol
Getting a prius speedtail must be the answer to the gas crisis
This is awesome.
Audi with tap âYou save fuel and your engine over heats âđđđ
This is the best auto channel on youtube no cap
Nice location choice đ
The vortex generators dont produce less drag but more. They are used on wings to create turbulent flow which resist flow separation more than laminar flow but they do cause more drag
12 gallon tank of cheap unleaded, with a cheap bottle fuel injection cleaner and a cheap bottle of octane booster (both under 1.50 each). without range displayed 330 miles (27.5 mpg), with 2 bottles of goop range shows 420 miles (35 mpg) driving light on the pedal. 90 extra miles for under 3 bucks works for me!
Itâs the 3rd (or 4th) Iâm watching this episode. Itâs so so so good
there's no way "bell-end" is an actual place in the UK...
15:28 love that early cellphone there. Beautiful.
When I first saw the TT my first thought was...."this man just made a driving bomb"
f'ing love this kinda style
keep it up man
just buy the cheapest car and do hell with it
Even the ads are fun to watch 7:19 LiKe CaLlUmâS TTđ
Scott showing his class while driving a jag and ripping on working class staples. He's almost Clarkson.
