Using CNC milling marks as a design is such a great way to reduce costs on what would otherwise be considered defects (arguably).
The raw units are actually anodized for cloudnine. This not only retains the look but also applies the same protective coating. Cost remains the same
@@joshbustos6760 no it does not. you skip the sandblasting/polishing/whatever surface treatment phase. you still save time/costs.

Tbh We haven't made a Tremendous leap when it comes to sound but we have made great progress when it comes to aesthetics and Price points.
Lol true! Endgames nowadays are mx blacks from 30 years ago on alu plate 😂😂 its like a big leap backward in terms of sound preferance

@@BreathOfDust Yeah, the SS option that's $130 USD more expensive than the base kit is definitely worth it, especially when you won't even see it when you're using the keyboard the way you're supposed to use it.
I really like the raw aluminum finish! With the copper it reminds me of the WWI plane engine that inspired my current wip case design for the Bakeneko65

How tf have I never noticed that hhkb bottom row isn't symmetrical...cannot unsee and I hate it.
That is called “true hhkb”, boards like the mode tempo are symmetrical. Good eye for seeing that though!
It’s more symmetrical to the f and j homing keys, it’s so the modifiers on either side of the space are equidistant for your thumb or pinky

What are the things i need to be aware of before buying raw finish keyboard ?
I have the Orbit in raw finish and unfortunately it's pretty scuffed, with some very visible scratches. Thankfully I'm getting a new top, but be aware that the raw finish on the Cloudnine could be similar. Alex mentiones at the start of the video that his prototype unit has scratches too.
