I took my sloppy shove it and turned it into a consistent trick in just one session. How to shove it for beginner skateboarders. If you're struggling to get a good shove it every time, this is for you.
I've been skateboarding for over three months now, and just these two little tips helped me go from random accidental shove its into a consistent trick.
I love skateboarding, and I hope I can help other new skaters who have fallen in love with it too!
How long did it take you to land your shove it consistently?

as a beginner I appreciate how detailed this tutorial is!
Thank you! 😃 glad to hear that!
or fall and figure it out like the rest of us did before skating became about tiktok
If that's what you think what are you doing over here in CZcams? Go build a fire with sticks and stones and gather your own food, like it was before sustaining ourselves become about technology. Idioit.@@fivemer4202
It's only a matter of time before 1.2k turns into 120k these are some of the best trick breakdowns on CZcams 💯
Thanks! I’m glad you’re liking the breakdowns 😃🙏 I’m stoked long as it’s helpful to the people who watch 💪💪
I’m getting back into skateboarding at 28 years old, I used to skate when I was 8-13. Even then I could never consistently land a shove it and getting back into it now, it felt just as impossible. Within 10 minutes of watching this video, I landed a shove it 10+ times, 3 in a row at one point. Thank you Sarah! I’m subbed and ready to learn from you!!
That’s amazing 🙏 welcome back to skateboarding too!
Best tutorial i’ve seen so far. Very detailed unlike the usual “jump and kick” tutorials
This is the most helpful skate video I've ever watched. I appreciate how you talk to us as people and walk us through what you were struggling with and how you fixed it. Great job!
Thanks Katie! I'm glad you liked it so much 😃🙏
Hey, I just started skateboarding at 35 together with my 10 y/o daughter. I've been watching ALOT of tutorials lately trying to do the damn shove it, but I'm stuck right there only landning with one foot and having the board move away from me alot. Now, finally, I understand why! I'll add your great tips! Feels like I can learn this the proper way now. Thanks for breaking it down so well.
That's awesome! Especially that you're learning with your daughter. What a fun thing to do together! Good luck getting closer to shove its! 💪 Glad my tutorial was helpful!
You have as much in-depth explanation as Aaron Kyro if not more. I’m very surprised you don’t have more subscribers that you very much deserve. Keep up the brilliant work!
Tech Deck illustration is Dope. Makes perfect what you're explaining.
🙏🙏
Chock full of really thought out tips to work on. Super.
Crazy story, I searched how to do shove-its and I literally just saw your thumbnail and saw the position where you are over your front foot more and I landed it immediately. Thank you
that's awesome 💪 get it!
I seriously hope you're in/working towards a fantastic job in engineering, kinesiology or something physics-related because your comprehension of fundamentals is awe-inspiring, truly. If videos like this existed back when I got my first board; I probably wouldn't have given up so quickly. The how and why are so important and it's best to instill good habits from the beginning so you don't have to reset muscle memory later like with anything. I know this video is old but keep making these!
Haha if I could go back to school and start over, I would definitely go for something like that 🤔 Wish I realized how much I liked it back then! Glad I can put at least the fundamentals together though. Totally agree with getting good habits from the beginning. Stoked you're enjoying the videos!
@@SarahParkMatott I feel like we never tend to enjoy things we're forced to learn. I think only when we're passionate about something do these skills come into play 🤔. Either way, as an older skater; your step-by-step breakdowns are really helping me build confidence on my board so thanks a lot! I can't wait for your channel to get the true recognition it deserves.
Good shit, love your approach
Again thank you this was helpful
Very well explained

This stupid trick has eluded me for ages because I just COULD NOT commit. Watched this video and once I realized how much easier it was once I kicked directly back I landed 20 in a row like it was nothing. THANK YOU

Thank you🙏 💪 I hope you get closer to landing the shove it too! 🙌
I landed my shuv I had been trying for all day after landing this!!! 🥺🥺 thank you
Muchas gracias, es genial tu forma de enseñar!
Thank you for the shove it tutorial! Your explanation of the pivot and the rotation of the board was super helpful. Also the tips on jumping and pushing straight back has helped me get my shove it more consistent.
Thank you! 🙏 I’m so glad to hear you liked the video and it’s been helpful for you!! Good luck getting more and more consistency!💪
Love how you explain the common mistakes and REALLY help me fix it.
happy to hear that :D
These tips are great! A small tip that helped me get better consistency was making sure to bend my legs before the kick. Idk why but I was doing it straight legged until someone pointed it out to me.
Gonna try it your way tomorrow! Saved your video to my library for easy access while in the skatepark. Might need to watch it a few times during my session for extra details. Thanks Sarah!
That’s awesome! I hope to hear or see good news 🙏 I am sure you’ll be able to do it soon!
Wow....this is seriously the best and most analytical trick tip video. Love this! More please!!!! ❤️

You are a QUEEN! You helped me figure out how to confidently do a boneless and I can now to a bonesless 180 too. My shuvs suck so I’m totally going to try this. Awesome explanation.
Hey! That's awesome. Thank you so much 😃 Hope this helps with the shoves! 💪

Another amazing tutorial. I landed 1 shuvit. Trying to get consistent!
That's awesome! Now, it just takes practice, practice, practice. You got it 💪
Hi Sarah! I've always wanted to try skateboarding but my mom never got me one as we're from India and we don't have any skatepark (oh don't even think about crusing in the street :( you how it is haha) or many other skaters in our state. But two weeks ago after turning 20 I decided to buy myself a board and stared practicing at an even surface in an apartment garage all by myself watching CZcams tutorials. I have to admit it's one of the best things ever. Gradual progression is more addictive than anything else. I mainly watch your channel because of your simple breakdowns of skate tricks. Seriously keep it up girl! You really help a lot. I can't stress that enough. Now on day 10 i can push(not properly though) but i am kinda comfortable with my board, i can kickturn, ground flip, get over cracks and do tiny ollies (like literally you can't even see the board pop).
Oh and i can't rotate the board 180 when trying shuv its, i mean i do keep my stance the way you explained but the wheels don't get off the ground, they kinda drag and make screeching sounds. Any tip would be helpful. Sorry for the long comment hehe.
No problem, that's amazing! Welcome to skateboarding, Harsha! And I'm glad my channel has been so helpful. To get the wheels to come off the ground, you probably need to push "down" a little more. Not just straight back. That balance of down and back helps get the wheels up. It also helps if you start a little heavy on both feet--put pressure down into the board and then jump up and push back to release that pressure. This is actually a concept I am going to add to a future video! It's hard to explain without the visual! But you got it. It takes months of practice to start to get anyway 💪
@@SarahParkMatott thank you so much Sarah.
After practicing shuvits for 3 days I finally landed one thanks to this video new favorite channel hands down 😎😎😎
thanks very cool
I've recently started skateboarding and after watching so many tutorials on shove its, yours is the best, clearest explanation I've found. Can't wait to get home and have another go.
ahh thanks Liam! So happy to hear that 😃
So glad that I found your videos! Thanks a ton! Btw, maybe you could make a short video about your protective gear some time?
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos 😃 I’ll definitely have to make a video on that. I made a note. It might take a bit, but I’ll get to it!
@@SarahParkMatott also interested, especially those socks (look like MTB socks?)
@@matthiasobermayr9157 they are freestyle skateboarding shin guards actually. They are pretty good 😃
this is the best breakdown for a shove it i’ve seen on youtube!! i was having some of the same problems you were having and these tips definitely helped me figure out what i was doing wrong. now i just wish it wasn’t 1am so i could actually put them to use hahahah
haha well, hope you can get some sleep and get out there to try again!💪 I'm glad you liked the tutorial too 😃
Yeah it’s the BEST shuvit tutorial out there. I can’t commit to landing cuz I can never predict where the board will go, I have ZERO consistency. I’ll definitely try those tips next week when I get home. I wish I wasn’t travelling for work lol
YOU ARE AMAZING OH MY GOD
😃 sounds like you liked the tutorial haha I'm glad :D
these tips are so good dude how are u not famous yet, ur gonna be big in a year or two so remember me hahaha loved the vid!!!!!!
Haha thank you so much 🙏 I’m stoked you liked the video so much 😃 hope the tips help
Thanks for your advise on back foot positioning! I also have small feet, and wasn’t able to shove the board properly, putting more of my foot out of the board really make a difference.
ahh that's awesome! I'm glad the foot positioning tip helped 😃
makes so much sense
😃
trying these tips in my session tomorrow!
Woo! Hope they help 💪
Really helpful :)
Those tips are SUPER!! i am going to try them out tomorrow!!! Been skating on&off for a year or so.. couldn't land a single shoveit all because of commitment. I have some other tricks but i think i wont see any progress until i will actually face that stupid fear.
Tommorow is skate day! hopefully will land my first 🛹🤞
Keep uploading you are good!!
That’s awesome! I’m so glad you liked the video. I will definitely keep uploading 😄
I feel you, too. Commitment has been a big struggle, but breaking the tricks down and just feeling comfortable on my board has helped with my commitment fears. I hope you get your first shove it tomorrow! Do some knee tuck jumps and hippie jumps to warm up and get those knees up! You can do it!🙌🙌
I believe you r one of best skate channel much respect I’m here before u blow cause u will blow
Thank you so much. I'm really glad you think so highly of the channel! 🙏
This tutorial is the best I’ve seen
😃 thank you!
this rlly helped thhanks
Woo! Glad it helped 💪
@@SarahParkMatott the putting your other leg higher really helped. helped my heelflips be more consistent too
Great tips! My shoveits arer not consistent, can't get board to spin in front of me, it goes a bit narrow to right. Hope this will help! Can't wait to go out and try it and not to slam every third time 😅😅
Great video! I'm just starting shuvits and have only landed one out of hundreds of tries! Your video has shown me the subtle things I've been getting wrong, making my back foot hit the ground. Can't wait to try again with your tips in mind. Thanks!
ah that's great! Hope you have fun with the next 100 💪 🙌
@@SarahParkMatott thanks! I'm sure I'm soon going to nail it :)
Yess THANK YOU! Excited to take these tips out o my next session because shuvs are my enemy right now
haha they often start as the enemy 😂 Hope you two can be friends soon! :D And glad you liked the tips!
Bro I swear you are hands down the best at making these tutorials.
haha thanks Nathan 🙏
