❤❤ This video is one of the best beginner videos I have ever watched & I’ve watched everything which has been helpful but this one I #THANKYOU for you truly are a master of your craft.
This video is a must watch for any beginners who are trying to learn Ollie.
This vid is excellent!! Foot work is super difficult for me!
I think I just found my answer in your vid! I am lifting my foot and not pivoting! So foot placement is always changing!! Wow I got to go try this!
I will be going out soon to try these tips. Thank you for sharing this!!
Sarah! I ride goofy and I can't understand as to why my foot want to ride almost above the bolts. I push and push then just glide. When I go to push again I find that my foot has traveled up again. Today I fell hard pushing because my foot was too far forward. I don't understand why I am having to babysit my front foot. Any idea why this is happening?
I needed this! I had no understanding of using the pockets! 👍👍
I am constantly falling when trying to flip the board from the rail to land on it. I slip out and slam the ground. It's incredible how people do this without pads.
What she does with everything is use first principles thinking to break down each skateboard maneuver or trick and that’s why she’s such an excellent teacher.
Thank you so much. My main trouble is balancing. And I was so hung up on the “regular and goofy” thing. Doing these exercises with both feet made me realize I am indeed goofy.
This is very helpful but the brightness is too low
Thanks Sarah! I've been skating since last November with a cheap cruiser from Decathon and got a proper skate on January when I said "yes! This is my new fav thing ever", but truth be told, I keep cruising the bike line because when I try the other skate I still find it uncomfy and see so little improvement from one day to another... And hearing riding is enough made me feel better and reminded myself to be a bit more patient. I think I'll go back to the skatepark soon enough.
Thank you! This video answered all my questions, that I've thought of this last week. Keep posting 😊 when you don't land your tricks. It's super helpful 🔥🔥🛹
Skating in a long wide of stability to providing more speed and strength to rotating faster and flipping out of a larger skateboard
It’s been a struggle to find “dry land” training for movements to dial in off of the board, or how to break down foundational movements into bite sized portions. Example, I was working on 180 pivots. I found it easier when I pressured the toe side on my back foot. But it came down to timing. When I accidentally had more even pressure on both wheels I could rotate slower and further by pivoting around the center of the axel vs around the wheel. Coming from skiing and snowboarding, initiating rotations with my upper body feels weird. For my learning style, “wax on, wax off” tutorials so solidify the motions so I don’t have to think about them are what work best. I coached mountain biking and that was a key structure. Small skills until they are second nature, then implement them.
Great obstacles and testing out of the ramp to ollie over that ramp!
I knew it! I have been experimenting with using my legs to kind of push off the air and wiggle myself forwards using my momentum, and thought maybe that's how you're supposed to tic tac. Every time I try I end up flying backwards but I think I just need to get better at shifting my weight over my board when I tic tac forwards! Thanks!
Hoe did you do that keychain ttool
Does it damage the board?
I gripped my first board two weeks ago and your tips helped a lot! It looks so good!
dropping in is the most scary thing if have ever done! i have really good board control.i have always been a street skater and never touched a ramp or half pipe in 6 years of skating. can do tre flips, varials, nollie and switch stuff, but dropping in took me MONTHS! i had build up so much anxiety that i took it with me into my daily life... only thinking about a drop in caused stress. one day i just made the decision that i am gonna do it today! i had enough! since i could not ovecome my fear I just kept being afraid until my brain could not produce any of the chemicals any more that cause fear... that was really awefull! i basically fatigued fear. i stood for like 3 hours, with breaks in between with my board under my feed on the coping to get used to the feeling...marinating in terror... i am not kidding! heights are not my thing and then putting all your weight into a "fall" felt like a life threating situation. at the end i was mentaly completely fatigued to the point where there was nothing left put the present. no thought, no emotion.only the sensation of my body and suddenly i did it! shows how powerfull the mind is! after that i still was afraid of dropping in but i could overcome it way more easily because now i knew how it felt. first few drop ins did not feel good tho. i guess i am a born street skater! i never was this afraid of any ledge or stairset! just feels more natural to me.
im gonna win that contest with this

excellent video. you've made my day. thank you :)
Well done!
BIG BRAIN 🧠
I attempted a pressure flip with the board on its side, landed right on my stomach and almost hit my head, you're a big brain, I can't do it.
You have to make sure to wear, that specific shirt for instances such as going a playground, it is very crucial.
Had bad confidence as a kid. Now after 20 years since my first attempt, and transitioning, I'm getting back into it with my partner and having so much fun! I find your videos easier to follow than most, and more relatable.. keep up the good work! it's appreciated <3
ah that's awesome! Welcome back to skateboarding 😃 I'm glad you've enjoyed some of my videos. Hope you continue to have fun skating!
Super helpful had no idea you were supposed to put pressure into the board I was just flicking down. I'll go test this out!
same! I didn't realize it either. The more flips, the more pressure 😃
I'm not going to lie, I already know how to board! I just wanted to go back and see why I have a different habit and position that is not "normal" but I am capable of "dropping in", Manuals, Ollie, switching, and sliding stops. I just can't describe my regular footing position. It's weird! I put my right foot on the back part of the board and Aggro push with the left and face right
Hey Sarah, I just ordered an Ethan Young prey deck (the 7.3 inch). My question is would you recommend risers for this board, and if so, which ones would you recommend? I literally havent used risers since the mid 80s on my first Tommy Guerrero flaming dagger deck! It's also the co.plete version that comes with 54mm wheels, and the Paris 108 trucks (7.3"). Thank you so much!
hi! That's awesome. Ethan absolutely shreds that deck. Everyone is a little different of course, but I actually wouldn't recommend risers for that specific deck and truck combination. And that's just because the paris 108's are a taller truck. I use an old set of lucky risers because my ace 11s are just a little shorter than my preference. I would take your time getting used to the paris 108s before thinking about if you want something taller. It should be pretty steep already 😃 I hope you enjoy it!
@@SarahParkMatott thank you so much for that reply, it helps tremendously! Love your channel and tutorials by the way!
Very good!! I am 48
nocomply so nice
you are very keen.
Hey Sarah! 51 yo here just coming back to skateboarding after 37 years. I just got my tic tacs and feet stomps down using your advice! Thanks! P.S. I've heard it called a Popcorn too (the feet stomp)
Congrats from France !
Well I guess I’ll stick to stationary ollies for a while. I managed to get better ones today, but I still struggle with the pop angle most of the time. Thanks for your great videos Sarah! ❤
Love it, thanks for the fun ! Always good vibes great skating
