    Guys, I learned the Pop Shuvit about 2 months ago and I got one OP tip which helped me a lot. Try to lean forward over the edge of the board. That makes you jump forward so that the board will stay under you the whole time. That also helps overcoming your fear to land with both feet

  • @markmicek3548
    @markmicek3548 Před 3 lety +1205

    This is for anyone who is a beginner. Ollies are really hard to learn. Don’t quit because you don’t get it instantly. You can get it. I would recommend getting skater trainers (25$) and practice. Use the practice steps that Aaron says but also do this. Step 1 press down on the tail and lift your front foot. Step 2 lean your front foot so it’s sideways on the grip. Step 3 drag your front foot up the griptape, it will ruin your shoes. Step 4 press down with your front foot. Step 5. Add the jump. Remember, it’s not easy it takes time, persevere and enjoy. (Aaron if you see this add this on ur next Ollie Tutorial)

    Failing over and over with these "most basic tricks" should be quite demotivating and may even look like the often quoted definition-of-insanity cliché. On top of this you always see/read how other people accomplish these with such an ease within the shortest amount of time possible. Makes you really question the choice of stepping on the board at times.
    But if somethings finally lands it feels ridiculously great and makes you face the next thing with even more spur! Perseverance, a positive attitude and tutorials like this (+skating with other people if/whenever possible) are immensely helpful.
    Anyway - cheers from GER and huge thanks for the update (the shove it part within the pop shove it chapter in SMS#1 didn't work out for me) and, most important, thank you for making 42yo me trying something new - even if it hurts a lot and makes me look like an old rolling duck with movement disorders most of the time! ... one which is having lots of fun!

    Something I adopted for learning tricks is to practice while moving. I use to learn tricks stationary, but had huge problems adapting them in motion cuz my balance wasn't shifted the right way, and the board sometimes moved differently too.
    I recommend one or two shots at the beginning of the trick performed in the world at the start of the vid. This shows it off and makes it look cool. Show where it can be done. Tricks just don't have the same effect while stationary infront of a blank wall.

      I started skating 3 years ago, what I’ve found is that it all clicks in suddenly, one day after learning and trying again and again you’ll be able to Ollie, or shove it or whatever trick you’re trying. And then next time it’ll come to you faster and faster until you can do it every time :)

    • @markmicek3548
      @markmicek3548 Před 3 lety +5

      Hey don’t give up buddy. It takes time to learn. You can get stuff like skater trainers to help you learn. And watch all the Ollie tutorials. Aaron also doesn’t mention one practice step. When you step on the tail, put your front foot in the sliding position but don’t slide. That step really helped me. Also just focus on the front of your body.

    The Braille team should partner up with the slow mo guys for a video. It would be really educational and cool seeing complex tricks in super slow motion. It would also expose non skaters to how tricks work and hopefully get more people into skating. Thanks for the tutorials guys I’ve learned a lot from y’all
