Maybe thats the ultimate hidden secret of learning the shove it :D Just get a British guy to teach you - thanks for commenting bud it's much appreciated

I was literally just copying other skaters I saw, constantly failing. Turns out I was forgetting to shove forward with my front foot. After watching this video, got the stationary one first try. Cheers Joe.
Yes mate!! That's awesome bud - well done :D Keep up the good work
Me too :) how are your shuv its now?
Me: this is totally easy
*6 minutes later*
Me: falls and skateboard is rolling away
Hey man, thanks for commenting - Falling is one of the best things you can do mate as it forces you through the commitment barriers - keep trying it bud you got this!! :D
Yes, I am very bad at doing a shove it too, but PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT to EVERY beginner! :D
haha same! my board came up and almost knocked me teeeth out
Brain: ok this is easy
Feet: ????¿¿?¿??¿????!!?!

đ sorry mate - hopefully when I make my 5 stair tre flip tutorial youâll be able to shove it đ

My brain: bro wheres the fucking skateboard

Why has no one ever explained to me that the board will go forward đ© thank youuu
Youâre welcome đ hope it helps đ good luck
Im 32 and have picked up the skateboard with my 12 year old son. encouraging eachother to learn tricks. Silly dad tried to go down a ramp without properly looking into it on youtube. waiting for hip to heal then this will be the next trick to lean with my boy along with improving the ollie, your videos are brilliant thankyou đ€đŒâđŒ
Hi Jamin, that is so awesome that you are doing that with your son - world's best dad :D Hope your hip feels better soon mate and that you can get back out there and shred
Thanks Joe ill be getting back into it friday when i pick my boy up and if we have a successful take on a trick we will post a video up on youtube. Ive been studying your videos quite alot and im buzzing to get back on boared lol roll on friday đđ€đŒâđŒ
I saw many other videos and can't get any result. You've just given me the key. I focused on "jumping" forward while pushing with the front foot and boom, got it. Thanks so much
That's awesome mate, really glad the video helped! Well done on landing it - seriously love the shuv and it opens doors to so much more. Keep killing it bud and thanks for commenting
you make it look so easy ive been trying for a month but im almost there
Hey Sophia, thanks for commenting - Itâs like that with most tricks I find that at first some of them are hard to get your head around and a few months later BOOM!! Youâre landing them every time đ keep up the good work and keep shredding
@Rockguitarhero462 im sorry but thats insane... ten months???
Awsome no one bully you when you do it because they canât do it
MaxTroGaming ten months wtf what Iâm saying đ
Think of it like you're hopping in front of you dominate leg first and swiping back with your other foot and commit! Good luck to you I hope you get it!
Tring to impress this girl in my class so I'm learning some tricks wish me luck

@@joewalkerskateboarding woke up at 7 soing going for 2 hours to try and land it?
One more thing how loose are tight are ur trucks?
Well done for putting in the hours mate and I have fairly loose trucks but nothing crazy, definitely not tight for me though đ
@@joewalkerskateboarding ok good day lad
Uh oh poser alert
any other goofy riders get thrown off when watching a regular rider's POV?
đ I didnât even think about that
yep đ
not only when watching from their POV.. everytime I see someone riding regular, my brain thinks "it's so weird that he rides switch all the time"... lol
I swear I never see goofy skaters đ it's hard for me to get the hang of it backwards
100% dude lmao
i just want to say iâve been trying this trick for so long, i watched your video and went outside and in a space of 10 minutes i landed it. thank you this was so helpful!!
Thatâs awesome!! Well done my friend đ
Hunching of the shoulders was huge for me. Just landed my first after three 45 minute sessions, hoping to have it consistent rolling by 10 hours . Thank you đ
Thatâs brilliant mate đ once youâve got it once your frequency will become much better and soon youâll be doing it down el toro đ

Thanks for the feedback mate, glad the video helped you - You'll nail it with persistence and practice :D Good luck bud
This guide was very helpful , a lot of guides neglect to mention that you need to hop a little bit forwards. I spent all day yesterday trying to get the shove it directly under my feet and couldnât figure it out
Thanks Jared glad the video helped đ have you been able to to stick one since watching?
This was extremely helpful!
Thanks mate really glad to hear that đ
âif you can do a ollie, you can do a shuvitâ
then thereâs me who can ollie really good but no shuvit :(

Still struggling to land it? Here are 5 TIPS FOR A BETTER SHOVE IT: czcams.com/video/Ojxxv3Xc_pU/video.html
I canât even do them Iâve been skating for almost a year
If Only hey man, whatâs happening when you try? Weâll get it sorted đ
Joe Walker wow dude! You are really kind! When I do them sometimes they donât go all the way around and other times I try to flip it to hard and it goâs to primo. Btw I am going to sub to you and watch and like most of your videos because they are helpful and you are kind and helpful.
If Only thanks man I really appreciate the sub đ so a couple of things 1) when itâs spinning into primo itâs because you back foot is scooping too much which will help you later on when you 360 flip etc but not needed for shuv/pop shuv etc. Stand with your front foot off the board and practice spinning the board with just your back foot and try to keep it level and land with only your back foot đŠ¶this will really help with muscle memory and board control. 2) when youâre on the board with both feet push your front foot forward at the exact same time you gently scoop your back foot backwards, hop forward slightly with your whole body as the board will move forward and BOOM!! Youâll land it. It can help at first to raise your arms as the board spins to control balance but youâll have to iron this out later. Trust me mate youâve got this. Push front scoop back hop and land đ lemme know when you land it bud
Joe Walker thank you so much m8! I canât try it right now cuz Iâm going to the beach to surf lol but that makes sense and is really good advice I will let u know when I get it
Thanks so much! I landed my first shuv two weeks after attempting it thanks to this video

Thatâs good to hear mate đ glad this helped
Dude Iâve been watching so many videos on this and heâs the only one who mentions using both feet to spin the board đč
Youâll smash it no problem with this tip mate đ good luck out there
been practicing each day for 2 hours for six months and still canât shuv it
maybe don't force it too much.. I did the same during my first 4 weeks only trying to ollie, which I could just barely even after that month.
But when parks opened after the lockdown, I started to ride miniramps, as I liked it more, and just practiced my ollies like only 5 minutes each session, which means each day, and then went back to what I had my focus on learning (rock fakie, rock & roll, axle stall, ...). About 4 weeks later, all of a sudden, my ollies were actually about to be quite good.
Totally agree with mekkanic here mate - I find this happens a lot to me too. I side line a trick for a little bit just tinkering with it here and there not expecting too much and then one day it's like the penny drops and you nail it easily, it's weird. Good luck bro!
Happened to me when I was trying Ollie - I was trying so hard but I still couldn't do it. I quit skateboarding and after a half a year, I did my first ollie on a 5th try :D
I learned a shuv it in like a day just practice on grass, itâs all mental
this is explained brilliantly, iâm trying but iâve just slipped on my ass it hurts but iâm not gonna give up!
Hi Adam, thanks for the comment mate and thatâs the spirit! Most of the time once youâve got the bad bails outta the way thatâs when you land it đ good luck bud

Finally found someone with left foot forward lol learning on quarantine
đ hello there! Quarantine has done wonders for my skating progress - if you need any advice let me know friend
I just came back to the vid and my board keeps flying forward when I try to do it stationary
Hope you see this
And also do you have to lift the front wheels very slightly
Your shuvitsâ look really good!! This helped me a lot
Thank you!! Really glad I could help đ
I spent weeks on trying to learn an ollie - with medium success. Today I tried the shove-it the first time with your tutorial, and I landed one after about an hour! Thank you so much, it's my first real trick on the skateboard. :)
Hi Sophie thatâs awesome well done for landing the shove it đ really glad the video helped - I have a pop shove it video coming out Friday which you might find useful - well done and stay awesome đ
@Ddudesstuff thanks mate đ much appreciated
Just started out on my skateboard yesterday and I've taken to the shuv it as a first trick. Gonna follow your routine and get it down soon hopefully. I was able to shuv the board around but could only land with 1 foot. Commitment issue I think, too. Btw you're in my end of the woods. Leeds central right? :))
Hey Kankan, thanks for commenting - thatâs awesome progress and that literally how Iâve learnt every trick I know by breaking it down, building the steps together and then boom!! Full commitment. Yeah Iâm Leeds centre - if you ever wanna meet for a skate lemme know đ good luck with the shoves you got them!
thank you so much for this, i landed my first shuv it in 15 min because of this video. excellent tutorial 10/10
edit: going to try them rolling now
Thatâs so good!! Thanks for the comment mate and well done, youâll smash them moving and plenty more tricks just over the horizon, keep it up đ€đ€
Best video I've watched on the shuvit so far
Thanks mate đ really glad it helped
Thanks for the tips!
No problem mate đ happy to help
I can do the full rotation and get the shuvit but I just canât seem to commit with my back foot. A few days ago I had it consistent then immediately lost it the next day.
Hey Jacob, thanks for commenting man - sounds like youâre real close to landing it mate. If itâs your back foot thatâs coming off itâs literally just commitment if everything else is happening correctly. I donât suggest going back a step for you. What i do is just force myself to focus on nothing other thank putting both feet on the bolts and then eventually the mental block disappears. Trying on grass or carpet might help but I reckon youâve got it on concrete. Back foot scoop, front foot push, hop forwards with both feet, bolts, BOOM!! You got this mate đ
U replied to all comments. You are so cool dude !
Thanks man thatâs much appreciated đ means a lot that people comment
This is the most relaxing and helpful skateboard vid Iâve ever come across
Hi lofi, really glad the video helped đ stay awesome

My friends at the park teach me but I can land it, as soon as I see you video i can land it !!
You are a good teacher!
Thatâs awesome!! Well done on getting it down đ and thanks for the comment, itâs much appreciated
Thank you, it was a trick that helped me a lot. From practicing for a long time Now I'm about to make it happen.
You're welcome mate -- you got this buddy, just piece it all together with a big dollop of commitment and you're good to go
Great video! Just one question: Iâm a fairly new skater, and I probably am a bit afraid to do tricks, but I always have a problem with popping the board (especially with ollies). Any tips or advice? (I also canât seem to get the board to spin around the whole way on the shove it)
Hey milo, thanks for commenting bud đ what might be happening with your pop is that your front foot isnât giving your back foot the room it needs to properly pop the board up. If itâs not that, try to think of the pop as a snap of the ankle rather than something you do worth your whole leg. Literally practice tapping your foot on the floor, thatâs the same feeling as a solid pop. With the shove it: keep the front foot off and just practice the back foot scoop. Try to make sure youâre scooping straight backwards and not back and to the side. This will really help you when you put both feet on đ you got this mate good luck đ
âlittle room for errorâ
me: falls into ocean
⊠and starts surf boarding đđ thanks for the comment bud
thanks your a legend mate i dident think i could to that but i practised lot and i can nolie shuvit now
Thatâs great mate! Well done bud đ

Just discovered how dumb I am: I am regular but I tried to shove it for three days in goofy position
Hey Federico, thanks for commenting mate - haha!! That's funny! I can barely stand on my board in goofy stance :D Good luck learning the shove my friend, if you need any help with it let me know bud
@@joewalkerskateboarding itâs like starting all over again (Iâm goofy btw)
I already have the turning part on point all I need is to land it lmao đ
I hear you mate đ itâs all commitment at this point - hunch those shoulders and force yourself to jump forwards and onto the board - good luck bud
very helpful bro thanks a lot
You're welcome bud - thanks for commenting :D
landed them right after this video! Thank you so much!
Thatâs awesome!! Well done my friend đđ
Nice tutorial but im having difficulties landing it. I have the scoop motion down and I land it with my front foot ever single time but my back foot is always far behind. Any advice?
Hi mate thanks for the comment đyouâre so close to landing it - you just need to commit now. Pretend you have to jump both feet over a low rope onto the board and commit to the idea that you might fall and be ok with that because youâre not gonna get too hurt. Once you commit to that idea youâll be able to do it - good luck bud let me know how it goes
Every time I try and shuv the board flips overđI tried recording myself and slow mo and it looks like my back foot is tipping the board backwards when I scoop. Any advice?
Hey mate thanks for commenting - sounds like youâre bang on. Itâs likely that the back foot toes are too far over the edge of the board. Try bringing the toes a little more on the board until it stops rotating the board. What youâre doing is great for things like 360 flips where you need it to do that đ you got this mate good luck
I watched this video and immediately went outside and unlocked shuv-it. Thanks for the tips on how to do it!
Youâre welcome my friend, glad it helped đ
Awesome stuff mate. Been practicing balance and pushing for a week solid and this is the first trick i'm gonna commit to.
Hi Barry, thanks for the comment mate đ thatâs awesome! This is a great first step into the wide world of tricks - good luck mate, gimme a shout if you need any help
Just landed my first Ollie today.
For any one struggling, what work for me was sincronizing the kick with the jump, and jumping from de board just with my right foot, poping it and kicking it, make sure you poop good, ALSO REALLY IMPORTANT, have your shoulders parallel with the board, this change the entire game for me.
I practice 2 weeks straight for 1 hour daily, I practice the Ollie before but no consistently. Practice everyday and don't be afraid.
Well done Juan! That's a solid effort mate to get an ollie in so short a time and excellent advice for everyone reading. Keep at it mate :D
Good work Binky 3! Well done
i cant get the board to go all the way around đ my timing is off and i shuv too early so my front foot stops the board from going anwhere what do i doooo
Hey Fatima, thanks for commenting - break the trick down into the steps. So start by keeping the front foot off the board and just practice the back foot scoop. Once you are able to scoop 180 and catch with your back foot only then should you add your front foot. With your front foot, push forward at the exact same time as you scoop the back foot. The front foot motion is very important as this will stop the board going to the side of you or behind you. Hunch your shoulders ever so slightly just before you execute the trick and you'll jump forward onto the bolts. You got this - just break it down and you'll land it in no time. Good luck!
Wow this helped a lot thanks man
Hey cj, glad the video helped and thanks for commenting đ
Thank you so much! First time Iâve landed that trick! Thanks for the extra details
Well done đ thatâs awesome!! Many more tricks on the horizon
Hey Joe. Iâm trying to learn how to shuvit, but every time I try, my ripstik flies behind me.
Hi ameen, thanks for commenting đ if the board is flying behind you try to put more emphasis on pushing with the front foot as this helps to control the board. The front foot should push the board in front of you ready for you to jump onto it - good luck! You got this
Hmm are you sure we can do this trick on a ripstik?? đ€ đ
When I go to do the trick my bored moves the 180 but it lands besides me and not in front of me like it should, any tips
Hey maya, thanks for commenting - thatâa quite common that that would happen. To correct it keep your front foot off the board and just practice the 180 scoop and catch with the back foot and once youâve got that down add the front foot and do the exact same thing. Good luck đ you got this
same thing is happening to me did this advice help u?
@@jaidenkempf9559 Ya it helped me a lot and I have the trick now.

I shuvit successfully for the first time thank to your video, you are awesome man!
Thatâs awesome mate!! Well done my friend đđ
Damn I think if I start jumping forward instead of straight up then I can land it
Hey Julian, thanks for commenting mate - that's exactly right, just hunch your shoulders slightly forward just before you're about to do the trick and then a slight jump forward and BOOM! You'll nail it mate - good luck bud
