Maybe not everyone realizes that when Jonny teaches a trick, he not only gives the steps to that particular trick, but he gives a small masterclass on how practicing and learning works. It works like that for anything. Visualize it, experiment, break it down, repeat, rest, get back to it the next day... He teaches commitment to the craft.
For some reason, this trick just comes naturally to me and I can do it everytime. Wish I could say the same about 360 flips, kickflips, varial heelflips and so forth lol.
I would love a backside big spin tutorial, I've been trying them for a while but can't get the pop and full rotation to roll away. Good job in general by the way :)
@@omarperfig2773 Fasho, that's usually what most people's problems with tricks are. They do the right things with their lower body but they don't think of what their doing wrong with their upper body. Like people can have a 360 flip land but the board goes to the side because they open up their shoulders. Just little things like that make a difference.
Everything people already responded with is valid advice, but I found that it really helped to really focus on you back foot (the one that pops) landing on the board. It's really frustrating and hard to get your shoulders to commit to the full rotation backside, it's like you know exactly what to do, but your body won't cooperate. But if you focus on that back foot landing on the bolts it kinda forces your shoulders around. Idk it worked for me, try it out!
Bro I was literally searching this week to see if you had a video on this, you’re so clutch. You helped me land my first shove it and pop shove it. THANK YOU!
Hey Jonny! Thank you so much for making a video about this fundamental trick. I've been working on it for a while and I'm begining to master it. Both the f/shove itself and the process of learning it are pure fun! Thanks for all of the tips too. I can tell from my experience that they really work. Greetings from Argentina!
Been practicing these for a few weeks now. Super informational video dude, as always thanks for being one of the biggest inspirations and teachers for the newest generation of skaters🔥💜
Thank you Jonny! I landed this the day after I watched this video. I'm 36 and just started getting into skateboarding last summer after a 20+ year break :D
Yo you are awesome dude! Been tryna lock in fs pop shuvs for ages, only landed them 3 times so far and watching your vids helps me sooo much in progressing my tricks! You have a unique way of explaining tricks. Awesome stuff! ✌
Jonny Giger is the man!!! I've learned so much from this guy. Most of the skateboarding tricks I've learned have been because of this amazing man. Thank you Jonny for being you, been a big fan of yours for several years. This has helped me so much I'm learning this trick. Ty again!!!!
Great video Jonny, in addition to being a great skater you also inspire and teach so well! Cheers! One more tip that really helped me learn the popped version, is to think about shuviting just a liiiiittle bit after the tail has popped on the ground. That way the board doesn't shoot behind you and just gets a fast spin and high pop :)
I love the attitude here so much, and the wisdom about "thinking" on a trick and then it clicks more... Both FS and BS (pop) shove-its clicked for me after getting comfortable with 180 ollies. I conceptualize them the same way, and then just don't rotate my shoulders/body.
the funniest thing just happened...so I have been recently looking on CZcams for how to front shuv... and I get a notification for this, and I thank god because Jonny Giger is the God of teaching tricks. Thanks a lot this vid was very helpful!
Yesterday was my 4th time going out to practice frontside Shuvits. I can happily say that I'm landing them consistently. Thank you for the detailed explanation.
This vid helped me a lot I’m getting back into skating and this is one of the tricks that I was afraid to do. I tried it once because my friends I use to skate with were and I jammed my finger and never tried it again but watching this vid helped me learn it
Frontside Heelflip tutorial!! Good place to start though, my front shuvs are inconsistent, but sometimes I get em decent. Great content as always dude!
I just started getting FS pop shuvits on the bank at my local. So stoked! Way more satisfying then BS pop shuvits. I just got to remind myself to land them everyday
I didn’t even know this trick had a name. I started trying it on my board to see if I could shuvit the other way and I couldn’t figure it out. Took me forever to find this video
Wow! How did you know that I am re-learning front shuvs? Talk about good timing! 😁 Just nice when I opened youtube and I saw this video! Thanks Jonny, this really helps! 🛹 Love from 🇸🇬🤙🏼
@@lucianmacandrew1001 yeah tell me about it! Its really hard to get that sweet spot, pop and shuv the board 180 to land bolts. I am all drenched in sweat after finally getting ONE good front shuv. Not forgetting the bruises from shinners too haha
@@estronto I nail them every time, even down small obstacles (like curbs) now. Working on hardflips, not going great, I may need to switch trick. But the problem is that I don't know an easier trick than Hardflip to learn, that I don't already know. You sort of hit a wall after backside kickflips, where every trick is really a big step up.
Thanks for the video man, i really love front shoves and i really love your videos! Do you have any quick tips on nollie heelflips or skating a contest? I am going to compete in my first ever contest tomorrow and it's pretty scary. Thanks anyway and keep up the great videos!!
Gave in and bought a board. I can't even stand on it. Like, I'm seriously unable to stand on it (pocket knife, just for crusing and stuff). If Jonny can try 1400 times to land a single trick, I'll keep at it. I also ride an EUC which at least taught me a lot about balance and control even if this is super different. But man, I get so pissed off when I fail, it's a good thing I remember about this channel when this happens.
great video! i actually didn't learn the front shov whithout pop first and still can't really do them - but my fs pop shov it is all right. so if you have ollies (and maybe fs 180s) down and the front shov feels wierd, maybe you should go straight for the fs pop shove it.
For FS pop shuv I’d add this, keep your head over your front hardware, and do not allow your shoulders to open up as if you’re doing a 180 ollie. You’ve got to almost unnaturally keep your front shoulder pointed inwards. If you open up to much your body will spin sideways and landing becomes impossible. So head over bolts & keep front shoulder pointed in the direction you’re rolling (don’t allow your body to open up, where your chest is now facing the direction you were rolling) Hope this helps some people. To me it’s seriously one of the more difficult tricks fs pop shuv.
This trick has been such a struggle for me and I still haven't landed it properly. Going for the easy way as you said openend doors though. I found this out myself
Amazing video! I can fs pop shov while standing still but I still have problems while riding... but I guess just keep practising and the rest will come automaticlly... btw, liebe Grüße aus Österreich... deine videos helfen echt imma übertrieben gut!!! Danke and keep being great
Jonny can you do front Shuv late flips?? I find hanging my front toes off the board with my heel completely on helps me keep balance. Popping them seems easier too.
Please help! Do i have to jump backwards? With a regular Pop Shove It i scoope more forward to my front foot so the board is under me and i jump straight up, not in front of me. Can i do that with FS Shoves too?
This is creepily well timed; I just started learning Front Shuvs.
same
exactly... like he's watching me ..
You’re not the only one :D
Same here XD
wtf so am I

Honestly, After seeing this. This is making me take my board out of my closet and start skating! Thanks Jonny for the inspiration! :)
Same, i feel that i can learn it so fast
Just ride till you hit that pebble😂
I love this trick it feels so saticefying when you pop it mega high and land bolts
Haha. Same bro. My board is so dead tho it's been in my trunk
and i learned fs pop shove it. This video motivated me. Now i'm stuck at the kickflip (:
bro lemme just say, you are a great motivator. when you say never to give up, it really makes me feel like one day ill be as good at skating as you :)
You can be
For some reason, this trick just comes naturally to me and I can do it everytime. Wish I could say the same about 360 flips, kickflips, varial heelflips and so forth lol.
Weeeell those tricks are hell lotta harder than shuvs.
Just keep practicing and eventually they will all feel natural!
Yes mate !! I wish frontsides came to me naturally, I really really struggled for years to understand them !
😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
@@lucianmacandrew1001 idk if they are necessarily harder
@@gummybearvitamins1211 Well, I mean, a varial heel is the same trick but adding a heelflip rotation.

Focus on your shoulders just think about doing a 180 don't worry so much about the board

Thank you Jonny, that helped me a lot! My front shoves started working "the easy way". I hope I'll learn the popped version pretty soon :)
I was struggling the last 2 days but after watching this video I landed it in like 5 minutes

Front shuv is so sick. I love how that trick looks on flat.
love your speech and the way you explain
Thank you Jonny Giger for this tutorial I just put fs pop shove it today thank you very much just the placement of my feet immediately unlocked !!!
got one today n I was shocked cause I tried it like 4 times, really helps being comfy with normal shuvs at fast speeds and your fs 180s
THANK YOU i‘ve been struggling with this trick for weeks
Some may be first but thank you jonny I appreciate the effort you put into these videos for us; the viewers❤️thank you!
