In this tutorial i'm gonna show you how to shov'it and turn them into a Pop Shove. Patreon: / jonnygiger Buy my Pro model: www.theshredquarters.com/jonn...
You're a beast and learning from you feels like such a privilege. i really like the way you explain things to beginners, it made it very clear to me! Looking forward to learning more beginner tricks from you :)
I'm 41, skating everyday with my 13yo son. Was showing off my shuvits to my family and primo'd for the first time ever, almost (died!) put my head through a glass cabinet. Love The Giger Man!
Back in the late 80's/ early 90's when I was skating you'd lay out a small fortune on a magazine and it would have a page with three or four photos and about one paragraph telling you how to do a trick. I'd have killed for this level of help. Great work.
for frontside shuvs i put my back foot in the bottom pocket with my front foot similar to a heelflip but more straightened, then do the opposite of a pop shuvit (front foot goes back, back foot goes forward) and i got them consistently doing it that way. if anyone decides to try this let me know if it helps 👍🏼
The most frustrating thing when learning to skate is how easy these tricks look but they're incredibly hard at the beginning and some days it feels like I will never land one. The first few weeks/months are definitely the toughest both physically and mentally.
Thanks for the great video! I'm 34 and haven't skated in 15 years. Found your videos and they actually made me want to start skating again. Used to to know a good amount of tricks but unfortunately skating is not like riding a bike. After 15 years I lost all my muscle memory and my body is different (damn aging joints!) so it feels like starting all over again. I tried to do an advanced trick too early and sprained my elbow really bad, 6 months to heal completely. So now I'm taking it slow. Luckily I am able to get these tricks back fairly easily by watching your videos to help build that muscle memory back quickly. Thanks!
I havent touched a skateboard in a few years but after watching this i feel like i could get back on and have a better pop shuvit than when i last was skating
Johnny worked a lots and lots on his basics. Thats what most people forget ,,,,dont rush tricks give time to perfect them all... a deep respect for Jonny from holy city varanasi 🙏
Jonny, i miss so much your tutorials! They are so clear and easy to understand. Maybe this time FS Pop Shuv it? FS or BS 180? I'm beginner, so this could help me a lot :)
Your advice about putting your back more in the centre of the tail really helped me last night and stopped the board from flipping! Landed more consistent ones than I have ever! Thank you
Thank you so much for these tutorial videos, Jonny! I'm starting here in honor of Elaine Shallcross at shuvitcancer; I picked up a skateboard for the first time in my life at 36 and am working to get a shov down by July 10.
@@heyyou7536 Unfortunately not yet, I had to pivot to helping a few friends and family members out during the lockdown and can't risk any ankle or knee injuries for a bit. I've been cruising on my longboard, and hope to get back to the shuvits soon.
I use to be the master of them , was my favorite trick for years till I found 360 flips , I loved how I could catch them in the air and bone it out . Very important trick to learn because it helps you learn other flick tricks
"..then your board lands primo and you die." ... i luv that runnin gag .. never gets old :D .. much love from germany Jonny .. 31 and wanna learn how to skateboard and your videos are helping a lot :)
The thing with "high" tricks: You just gotta pop & jump just hard enough with the RIGHT timing. Also Jonny makes sure his front foot goes straight to the bolts and stops the board from rotating and makes it easier to land on your board with your back foot too. btw, great vid as always Jonny!
I like that he doesn’t emphasize the front foot control. For some people it works but for me it screws me up. I like that he rotates it free and catches almost two footed.
Yo really liking these videos Jonny! And I appreciate the fact that u go over things for the more advanced skaters. I've been able to pop shuv for a long time but recently been working on popping them as high as possible. Thanks great tips!
Started on pop shuvs and came back to this vid. Best tip I've found is to pull your knees slightly inward relative to your feet. When your weight leaves the board your back foot will turn the board a bit more automatically. Frustrated with ghost-pops on your pop shuvs? With this knees-inward stance, your front foot will also pull inward slightly making it easier to pop.
Jonny, thanks for the Pop Shove It tip about the back foot placement. I have been learning a lot from you, (thank you!) Your skateboarding is a awesome you are a great pro!
Love u Jonny u have helped me so much I started skating when the lockdown happened and because of u I can already ollie, shoving, pop shovit, ollie onto curb. U are an amazing teacher man keep doing what ur doing! Much love homie ❤🛹
Great work Jonny, I really enjoy your videos. I wish I had CZcams & your instructional videos when I was first skating back in 1990. As a mature skater of 43, you're really inspiring me to get back into it and tidy up my technique. Thanks again and big-love from Australia!
This is really helpful in relearning everything. Even back 10 years ago when my flatground was good and I was able to skate staircases and handrails my foot placement was wrong. Just hoping I can get my flatground and ledges back again. Thanks for these tutorials they're helping me get back into skateboarding! Can't wait to buy your pro model once I'm more comfortable learning on the 10 year old relic I'm using to relearn skating
I just started skating again this past week after about 15 years and this and your kick flip video has helped gain the confidence and showed me a super easy way to do these tricks. Thank you man!
I don't skate, but watching jonny explain tricks and what goes on feet and technic wise, is really informative and on point, facts and tips for free for everyone - I'm sure a lot of shove it will be popped higher and better in the next time! stay healthy!
Boom💥 tour pop shuv it at the end was amazing! I just started to practice shuvit’s to vary from learning Ollie. Having some trouble getting my tricks while moving 😓 gotta practice and commit more
I found it super useful to consciously think about pushing my front foot counter when doing it. The push down and scoop are gentle, but the front foot really helped with moving it in front of me and catching the board too.
free masterclass from one of the most extremely talented and hard working skateboarders out there, everything is so concice too
kyllä
That is absolutely the highest pop shut I have ever seen in my life
And it's a nollie.
Look up jake Hayes pop shuv it’s even higher
Look up Tiago Lemos then haha
tiago man
That pop is insane!!!

Same here

Same! I just learned them and now I’m used to committing with my back foot when the board leaves my feet
Maverick Panda same bro haha
thats the stage im on now
"Please make sure not to die."
I'm not even a skateboarder, Jonny, but I'll take this advice.
😂

yo dude that was awesome now please make a video on FRONTSIDE shove
I can easily do frontside shuvits switch, fakie and nollie, but still can't land them regular...I think it's a mental block.
@@amjroid5291 switch stances and boom! you can do it regular 😂
Am jroid yeah dude, my frontside and fakie frontside is waay better than the normal Pop shuvit too... :€
for frontside shuvs i put my back foot in the bottom pocket with my front foot similar to a heelflip but more straightened, then do the opposite of a pop shuvit (front foot goes back, back foot goes forward) and i got them consistently doing it that way. if anyone decides to try this let me know if it helps 👍🏼
bro I been struggling with FS pop shuvs forever. Like I got kickflips nollie pop shuv its etc all before ever landing my first ever FS pop shuv.
I'm 43 years old and skateboarding better than ever thanks to your videos.

The nollie pop shuv at the end over 6 decks... Unbelievable!! Props!!

if you start again your body will remember how to skate by itself it just takes some time!

Genuinely believed he was proud of me for getting that far into the video 😭
