I don't know if this is intended, but the fact that this takes place in Kylo's mind speaks volumes of his inner confliction with the dark side. From the moment Vader speaks, he refers kylo as "Ben", Sith of any kind rarely use the old names of their opponents like that because they have some sense of honor to those who embrace the dark... its clear that this version of vader is his mind trying to shake his resolve as kylo fights the little light he has left of him at this point. Vader's lack of aggression also shows how little he really knew about his grandfather other than what history tells him... all in all, its clear that Kylo here wants to be something strong to stand against his past and grow using his heritage and anger as his mental sword and shield

To be honest, this was very well made for something that isn't official, and shows Kylo having to deal with the inner struggles of his wants. He wants to be Vader so damn bad, but Vader was so strong, that damn near everything was effortless for him.
This was amazing, and would have been a cool deleted scene type thing, when he would have been next to the helmet or something like that. 10/10 quality.

OMoo dude, that should be in Episode 9. They both have destinies heavily affected by Vader and they have fears connected to him. Luke feared Vader, and the vision ultimately showed him he was fighting himself all along, that he is afraid of himself not being strong enough. Kylo Ren fears not being as strong as Vader, but ultimately is fighting himself because he fears his own weakness just like Luke did.

The Broken One Other fan films use the basic lightsaber ignition sound, even for Sith sabers.

The Broken One the ignition sounds are meant to go with the character’s emotions I think, since Kyber crystals are nigh on sentient Force affected objects, they sense the emotion of the user, hence when Anakin is using his Jedi Saber in ROTS in the Jedi temple raid, and especially when killing the younglings, you hear the Sith ignition. The crystal senses when a Lightsaber is activated in anger, hatred, and pain. Thus it reacts differently. When someone activated a saber with a calm and peaceful mind, or a mind with the intent of defense or necessity you hear the Jedi sound, the saber knows the intentions of its use. Hence when a Jedi is angry, you hear a Sith ignition. That’s my theory. It’s kind of like Dirty Harry’s gun sound. When he briefly uses a different revolver, you hear the same sound. The idea behind it is that whatever he uses, will always sound like that. He’s the hero, that’s the hero’s gun sound. It’s a creative choice.

fun fact: there was a concept for rise of skywalker to have this in the movie, but for vader to win, to show kylo he has to stop trying to be vader and to be himself

Logged in just to comment this. Really enjoyed the "no effort" stance taken by Vader until the scene where he struck down Kylo. A lot of other fan-made film protray him with "heavy swings" of his lightsaber.
It’s an interesting call back to Empire while also contrasting the difficulty the visions gave Kylo and Luke based on how much each knew at the time about Darth Vader.
