No, I'm not a savant who has every code memorized, but you scan certain foods at your register long enough, it becomes second nature.
For the record a tomato is actually BOTH a fruit AND a vegetable. Fruit is a botanical term that references the fleshy, edible part of a plant that grows to encourage animals to eat them and spread their seeds for them. Vegetable is a culinary term that references the role certain foods play in our diet. Tomatoes happen to fall in both categories, but because there is also a "fruit" category of food in our culinary lexicon, when people learn that tomatoes are the fruit of the plant they grow on, they mistakenly believe that means they are not vegetables, when in actuality the fruit of a plant is an entirely separate thing from a vegetable that we eat and thus a given item can be both.
Not gunna lie, the most positive interaction I've ever had with another human, was one with a kid with down syndrome. He does not show forms of autism, so if he DID have it, it wouldn't be obvious, and we all know for it to be on television, it's gotta be obvious. People with Downs have a rough time as it is being labeled with what they have, and even worse when they're "double-diagnosed", most Downs patients who ARE diagnosed usually stay quiet and introvert themselves due to the pressure of being diagnosed that way, and the ones that don't usually dont get this close to people or try to speak to people for long.
I've been a physical assistant for multiple patients some of which were Downs Syndrome patients, all of which were "double-diagnosed". Currently with someone who has Cerebral Palsy and autism. It shows in the vocabulary and body movements. To me, he just seems like a DS patient.
They may not be the smartest, but they always have beautiful hearts. God gives everyone the same, just someone somewhere else. Life is a matter of priorities. Someone is beautiful in an ugly body, someone is ugly in a beautiful body.
This brought tear to my eyes my grandson is this awesome and I'm absolutely proud of him
Dude if he hugged me like that I would've never let go. I need a hug so bad.
I always need hugs, so 🤗
Other people do too. Offer people random hugs. It’ll help you and them. You’d be surprised how many people could really use a hug. It’s a good confidence booster too
Sending you a hug 🤗
Thank you guys, seriously. I couldn't have read all these at a better time.
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I know it’s a movie, but that guy would definitely get a hug back
He has Down Syndrome, I am autistic. But we both have worked in stores and I can tell you I knew he would say 4011 for the bananas lol. Organic bananas are 94011,
green grapes are 4022, red grapes are 4023, cucumbers are 4062, zucchinis are 4067, yellow squash are 4086, lemons are 4859, roma tomatoes are 4087, large tomatoes are 3151, vine tomatoes are 4664, oranges are 3107, avocadoes are 4046, and limes are 4048.
I wish everyone was as nice as this dude literally makes your day.
Not gunna lie, the most positive interaction I've ever had with another human, was one with a kid with down syndrome.
I was having a shit day at work, walked into a gas station for an energy drink or something, kid was in the cooler next to me and he looks and me and I look at him and he held his fist out and goes "dap bruthaaaa" so I of course did and he goes "you have a good day yo." And then walked off to his mom.
awe
Love this for y'all. ❤
My son memorized all those numbers too, when he worked at a grocery store.
I think it's wholesome having to tell someone not to hug the customers
Grade schoolers : « 2+2 = 4 »

I'm so sorry but "Like Superman or Batman!?" got me cracking up😂
Lots of people with either Down syndrome or autism are incredibly smart in specific fields. They are treated as lesser’s sometimes but it couldn’t be farther from the truth.
I remember being friends with some of the foos from special ed. I’d always feel bad that people would talk about them behind their backs. They were “weird” ya know. If you really talked to them tho and listen, they are some really interesting people. This is coming from the hard ass no one likes to talk to cuz they think I’m racist, but you can really see who the ignorant people are when you wake up for a sec
Yeah sometimes the special ed kids are more fun to talk to as they always make me laughing
You can still be racist
It's ok bro I love making jokes about other races too and I don't care if it makes me racist.
@AceMachine5 Bro💀💀that’s not ok 🤦🏽♂️, go to God my boy ✝️
@@skippydippy1671 Ironic coming from the 13% of the population being to blame for 50% of crime

Interactions like this are awesome. Even if they don't have a disability however, this scene is awesome.
"It's not a vegetable. it's a fruit."
Fruits ARE vegetables.
Worked at sprouts, the PLU for bananas is burned into my head...
My sister is the lead at sprouts ❤ McAllen Texas.😊
I hear yall at Sprouts got some good ahh Cranberry Orange Muffins. That true??
And subtly he gave him , the diet he needed for his sickness. Golden ❤
The fact that the creator put autistic instead of down syndrome is crazy. Like the whole story is intelligence
FYI: Fruits are Vegetables, but not all Vegetables are Fruits. So, the initial guy was correct, just not as specific.
Autistic people are not necessarily dumb. Can actually be very smart
This dude has down syndrome brother. But it does happen that people have autism and down syndrome
Most autistic people are actually highly intelligent but unable to use it, however the person in this video has down syndrom (doesnt necessarily mean they're not autistic, I don't know enough about down syndrome to rule anything here)
"Nah, Mr. Manager... i just need to RETURN the hug, or give one in exchange...bc this is a store -- nothing is free! C'mere, buddy!"
-- me, if i was in his position
I get why people could see that as a dick.move by the manager, but he is absolutely in the right to respond like that. Physical interaction with the customer is totally unnecessary to the function of his job and can very easily turn into a legal situation where the business is liable.
Unfortunately you are correct. I say unfortunate because people will think bad intentions, when in reality, some people don't like being touched. It's not overstepping boundaries that you aren't aware of@@BloatedKelly
@@BloatedKellyyeah cos some ppl are just assholes and hugging them gets you in trouble even tho hugs reduce stress
That interaction was seemless, and super real.
That man shouldn't be working in a grocery store.God bless him
The movie is called Where Hope Grows for anyone wondering
Thanks. I hate when the name of the film isn't where the clip is from mentioned.
Bro said autistic tf no he ain’t
I work as butcher and still remember the codes from the first place I worked at. Lots of people we see working everyday have a amazing skills like this we don’t even know about we just take their work for granted
Why did supervisor come in with that Key & Peele energy? 😂😂
He’s not autistic, he has downs
He has both
They called him rainman silly he clearly has both

That fella could do great with that memory ❤ he could be in better jobs he's amazing ❤❤❤
My guy was spitting the PLU numbers out!!! That takes time and effort to memorize all of them. If you add a 9 in front of them it makes it organic. For those who dont know 😊
He made that guys day with a hug ❤
Half of the veteran cashiers at my old job knew all the usual produce codes. Only the seasonal stuff slowed them down. But after twenty years doing the same thing, you'd better pick up a few XD
as someone who worked as a cashier in a grocery store, every one of those numbers was real lol. Look at the stickers next time you shop. They're the same in every store.
I would hug him back
He is smart as hell, and if he hugged me I would hug him right back
I would've told the supervisor that his associate really knew what I needed - a hug. And hugs are free. He's Super Produce Man! Powered by knowledge and hugs!
Hugs are sexual a55ault now lol
I would gladly hug him back!!❤❤❤
" your kinda like rain man" had me dieing
Very special person , many can't say that. He should be protected at all cost
Cool that the comedian who hosted SNL a while back talked about how the family members with Downes were like the BEST members of the whole family :)
This is so sweet! I thought he would be rude and bully him because he said, "oh whoops, sorry pal, i think i just trampled on yiur vegetable..." but he was nice to him 😭
Lol when I worked at the grocery store, we had to memorize these as best we could. A colleague told me she saw the banana code in her dreams.
Don't always judge a book by it's cover
But thats the purpose of book covers… to tell the reader what the book is about at a glance…
