Oh, it's beautiful...
Hello there!
Star Wars Theory it sure is friend.. it sure is
If you could enlist more people like this to help with your vader project, maybe the money would be less an issue
Another happy landing!
Yeah
Fan films are a path to many abilities Disney considers.... unnatural.
They can even keep the franchise we love.... from dying.
How does one learn this power?
Lee Haiko Not from a Disney
@@garrettgurley3473 best comment ever! 😂
@@leehaiko3999 *Is it possible to learn this power?
It’s ironic, the people keeping Star Wars alive are the very ones Disney is trying to silence.
Watching this before Disney takes it down
It's fair use. It's not commercialized.
Griffty Rocks yeah go bullshiting without even knowing the facts
@360 Overdrive I was replying to OP, but anyhow, there's hundreds of Star Wars fan films out there. Covering everything from Canon to EU lore. Fan films are tecnically a legal grey-area, but as long as they aren't commercialized, Lucasfilm and Disney have been known to turn a blind eye. It's rare enough that I've never heard of any fan film being taken down except for Star Wars Theory. Hundreds of Star Wars fan films have been around for literally decades. Some even put Williams' original score in it, they didn't strike it because it wasn't commercialized. So I say: Technically not but for all intents and purposes, it's fair use.
Who here is watching this again after the Obi Wan Kenobi trailer drop? I immediately thought of this beauty and had to go back to rewatch it! Phenomenal work!
Same!!! Oh man I wonder of Disney saw this and was like. That! It's gotta be like that!
@@seanblakely4375 It's possible, but personally I hope they didn't. Disney shouldn't come anywhere near this gem. Even for inspiration.

This is way better than what a multi-million dollar corporation did.
This is the REAL Kenobi!
Too bad Disney changed Lucas' vision just to put Vader in the script. Seems like his Force powers come and go as needed, like a Marvel character.
Alec Guinness delivered his lines with authority, Ewan McGregor just doesn't measure up.

The actor is an impressionist by craft. He had a few moments where is sounded very similar to Ewan McGregor, but also, Alex Guiness. Enjoyed it.
yes he is incredible. I catched that Ewan McGregor and Alec Guiness moments. So exiting
And jar jar
It's an Embodiment not an Impression. His performances are so much more then an Impression.
The actor who plays the Imperial Captain that comes up to them and speaks is the same guy who plays Obi Wan in the animated series.
@@darknightmeh1748 Perfect wording: embodiment.
After watching the first episode of Kenobi I’m in awe at how much was clearly inspired by this fan film
They have been stealing ideas from the fence for years now it's not surprising
Eh probably not
This fan film is better than the show, and I'm genuine about it.
@@henrykkeszenowicz4664 Lucasfilm should have ditched the story group (the guy who didn't know that Obi Wan knew Annakin was Vader and Hidalgo) and hired Jamie Costa and James Arnold Taylor to make the series with McGregor. Less money, better quality and maybe a cameo with all three in one scene: a big win-win for everyone. It seems Disney/Lucasfilm, the more they press the message, the quicker money escapes their clutches.

And the thing is his voice fits really well as an evil officer too!
Really? How did he come on?
What I mean is, how did you get him to be an imperial officer?
That’s the guy that voices Obi-Wan? I can actually hear that now.
Can we just appreciate that they actually got James Arnold taylor in here. Actually kinda insane to me. Definitely since this is a fan film.
lol this is something even the kenobi show didn't do!
this 20min is more refreshing than the first 4 ep of Obiwan combined.
This can't be Star Wars. It has a coherent story and seamlessly adds to the original canon.
Coherent story? Uhm the prob is if the Empire sent out a crew and they all got killed they were ( the Empire) notorious for investigating especially when a high ranking officer is killed, ( by a bunch of Sandpeople at that) ....wouldn't happen....
@@badmonkey2222 Good point if that's true. I assumed they were disposable low level census takers, not high ranking. Either way, we don't know what happens next. They could come back to investigate.
Also, although some elements don't make sense, at least they're attempting to respect the world and not shamelessly destroying and twisting all of the established lore and characters.
@@badmonkey2222 Hey, if I have to believe Leia can force Mary Poppins herself out of the vacuum of space, it's easy to overlook this detail.
@@OfficialTonyD Lol you did have a point.....but I'm not going to sit here and call this low-budget attempt with subpar acting at best better than anything Disney's ever done because it's simply not true and I'm not a Disney fan let me make that clear.

Me: This film is great
Friend: Why?
Anakin: Because of Obi Wan?
:D
Because of Obi wan
Where was Obi-Wan?
Liarrrr
Captures a lot of essence of the original Star Wars.
Yeah, Obi Wan was incompetent and sort-sighted there too.
I mean no disrespect to the makers of this, but I get annoyed at things that need to happen simply to advance the story, no matter how ridiculous those things are.
What am I talking about? Well, how many examples do you want? He could hold the speeder in place, but couldn't grab his light saber from the hand of a mere mortal?
Come on man! Why must Jedi always display massive feats of absolute incompetence and uselessness to push the story forward?
scott The force is a hard thing to manage, even an Olympic sportsperson will have a bad day or bad moment or mess something up in their sport, but continue to make a fantastic achievement 5 minutes later
@@Skyfall106 Sorry. I understand the point you're making, but Jedi are superhuman.... except when the plot requires them not to be. It's irritating, and lazy writing.
scott I don’t fully think so, they’re all still human and humans make mistakes. Remember that most jedi were trained in the force from a young age, where most of them didn’t even know about the force and that they were force sensitive. A skill that they’ve learned and can still fail in. Also, from what I got from the movie Obi-Wan had tried to cut himself off from the force like Luke, that’s why he was a bit rusty, in the last jedi luke did the same but was still able to do that mad force thingo
@@Skyfall106 In the Clone Wars, Obi Wan ran into Maul on Tatooine and beat him in under 10 seconds. He was able to take on Vader in Ep. 4. He had clearly kept up with his training.
In this fan film, he's sucker punched by a Tusken Raid, and there are only two of them. Then he's able to deflect heaven knows how many blaster bolts from the ST's, despite being temporarily blinded? I mean, come on.
Kudos to the effects team on this short film, but the story writer should be fired! >:-)
This it what happens when someone cares. 11:42 onward = one of the best scenes in any fanfilm I have seen, you can just see and almost feel as he, blinded by the sand in his eyes, lets the force flow and starts defending. The change of music, everything outside fades out into the backgound, and he becomes one with his weapon. Choreo, music, visuals, just perfect.
You know what’s sad, is that this is infinitely better than the kenobi show.
So much better, I came back after finishing the show because I wanted to watch some real quality fan fiction, other than that new Disney fan fiction, If you can even call them fans.
Only reason why it's better then the kenobi show is because this is not a disney movie where they nerf the blasters/lightsabers to the point they only graze a target on impact, (making it more child friendly) I think thats why people make out the storyline of disneys star wars to be kinda a joke like 3 times in the 3 movies Rey was supposed to die due to being hit with a lightsaber yet not once did she die. Oh and in the star wars timeline force heal was supposed to be a long lost jedi ability and she learns it in under 30 seconds of seeing a injured animal... yeah the storyline is shit but the fact remains disney owns the rights to star wars so what they say is cannon is cannon and it sucks.
@@soranibrahim5334 Disney is just expensive fan fiction in my mind. Idc how much money they spent.
Disney, if you want me to change my mind give me $10,000. That's it! I'll be a sell out!

@@LisaAnn777 literally nothing Disney do is fan fiction because they own the franchise meaning everything they do is official and not fan fiction. I swear to god, people like you throw that word around to the point that it loses all its meaning to try and define it as something it’s not

YES. The music really helps paint the emotion, urgency and overall narrative 💙🙌🏻
Jamie Costa ❤️❤️❤️This is my absolute favorite fan film, as someone that grew up with ‘Star Wars’ (before it got renamed as ANH) and Ben Kenobi was somewhat like my 3rd grandpa this really nails the vibe of the OT and ANH in particular! You know what, the music absolutely blows away the Kenobi show on Disneys score.
Other than the main theme because John Williams. I agree otherwise.
I think it was said somewhere they purposefully avoided using Star Wars music for the series. What an absolutely idiotic idea. Not only do they not understand the universe of Star Wars but they don't understand music, one of the most integral and important part of everyone's lives and experiences. A large portion of every Star Wars fan's love for the universe is the music.
@@mathewstafford7943 Well, they used some Imperial March and Force theme in the finale...but only one minute because they are greedy.
@@mathewstafford7943 there's a 2.5 hour fan edit by a dude named Kai Patterson and he adds in the old music. You wouldn't believe how much that improves things

@AD 2385 You're right actually.
Hollywood wouldn't know how to properly utilise this level of talent. They'd rather just use remixes and convenient sound.
Stay independent, Hollywood will suck your soul out and kill your dreams to fulfill someone else’s.
MAN when he picked up his light saber and wielded it whilst blinded with dirt it almost brought me to tears, as moments before Ben had almost lost all faith in the Force with the Empire in control and the Jedi gone, but in a moments notice he dug deep within himself to find he still holds true to his faith of the Force.
same, it reminded me of the greatness star wars had before the Disney takeover.
This proves definitely to me we have the absolute wrong people in control of decisions in Lucasfilm anymore. This film under 20 minutes in length made me care so much more for the characters and story than ANY recent Star Wars movie minus Rogue One. We need people with at least half the passion that was placed in this fan film and we would be seeing much better Star Wars movies produced. Bravo to everyone behind this fan film, considering the budget, this short film blew me away and literally gave me goosebumps.

Already better than a what we got from the official show! No annoying inconsistencies, no making th character do things he would never do. Just pure heart and respect, exactly why the fans often do better jobs than the actual studios that own them. I legit think George would be proud.
Only one small inconsistency, that Luke might have seen a Lightsaber before where it has not been established to be that way. But otherwise this fanmade film trumps over the official series in quality and character. And Luke could have forgotten that part by the age he has in Episode 4.

The way obi wan speaks is so accurate to his character. This is Canon to me
Lets see, at the start Obi was depressed and off his A game which caused him to get mugged by the sand people. His self confidence was so low his Affect Minds force skill didn't work for him and his reflects were really off.
After he got his mojo back and went to talk to the last storm trooper, he didn't even bother to wave his had to effect that guys memory.
Over all it was fun to watch.
Why don't the S.T. have radios in their helmets ?
Also in canon, S.T. helmets record ever thing they see and hear.
what freaked me out, is that his voice sounds like old Ben from A New Hope. Star Wars needs this guy for real.
@@krispalermo8133 I have to agree. And I thought it was good to have him make mistakes, or not be on his game. Just like anything, if you don't keep training, like working out in the gym, what happens you get small, your not as strong. Well our minds or brains are the same. He hasn't used his powers in years, or his saber. The Empire doesn't use the full power of their Star Destroyer, those 72 Ties are never used for no reason.
They also don't understand Hyperspace at all, Jabiim is all the way up in the galaxy, Tatooine is all the way down, it take days to travel across the lanes, not seconds.
Everyone not dying of gut wound.. Why? Reva also discovered teleportation it seem..
@@daghostds stfu, stop crying and be grateful
Everytime i see vids like these they are like 4 years old, this one is 10hrs old lol
Same!
When Kenobi said “hello there” I liked this video
8:40 same
if only this new Kenobi show was half as good as this :(
I absolutely love that scene where he throws the lightsaber. I feel like I did this because the saber was like a constant reminder that anakin is gone and he failed him. Loved that scene👍
A great rendition of Kenobi with both shades of McGregor and Guinness.
and actual shades
Stay for the end credits to hear a response from an old Master....
Jamie Costa, you made a great film and I hope you can get star wars theory to do a reaction to this so this can get more traction with the amount of subscribers he has because this is a great piece of work that people need to see
are you guys gonna do something with qui-gon?
Do a short live action of Obi vs Maul!!
@ghost0028 that would be pretty cool
I did! Master Qui-Gon! 😃
Y'all actually be blowing Disney out the water. So glad this exists.
This is the better kenobi
Hello there is bacc
General kenobi!
He protec
He attac
But most importantly
Hello there is bacc
Master Kenobi!
Why hello there
Everyone, it’s over, he has the high ground.
Help us obiwan kenobi, you’re our only hope for star wars now.
Star Wars A New New Hope?
@@user-sd6zz2hm2u Star Wars The Last Hope
Star wars there's no hope
Well mandalorian is doing a pretty good job
Plot twist: The imperial commander, played by James Arnold Taylor, is actually Obi-Wan's younger brother mentioned in Part III of Kenobi series.
Oh my goodness, that's a good one!!! 😂
@12:06 That moment you realise a 45 second sequence in a three year old fan movie is a better depiction of Obi Wan Kenobi reconnecting to the Force than anything Disney has delivered.
Obi Wan: *gets sand in his eyes*
Also Obi Wan: "Thats why he hated it so much..."
Anakin got his hate for sand from Obi Wan
I don’t like sand
Anakin Skywalker is it because it is course, rough and irritating? And also that it gets everywhere?
Anakin Skywalker it’s corse is rough
Sorry but wrong. That's the other way around. The fan read an article somewhere confirming Disney's intention to make the spin off and thought "Oh, I can get tons of views on CZcams if I make a video of that"
This fan film is a Christmas miracle
Well said. 🎄
More like a Life Day miracle. ;-)
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi, Hello There.
@@Valken985 Hello Tyler
7:12 FUN FACT: the ADMIRAL upfront is the SAME GUY who VOICES KENOBI in the CLONE WARS SERIES
I know it's fanboy blasphemy to say this, but I think this might be better than the Obi-Wan TV show, so far!
You mean commons sense? Speak it, the more people are afraid to speak the truth the more insanity reigns.
The opposite is true, this is FAR more authentic and true to Starwars, the Characters, then that GARBAGE "official" series.
Oh boy, yeah. This is 100% better than the Kenobi slop they're pumping out right now.
It is better!
Not blasphemy. You are right, every new show that disney makes is a reskin of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Hold on, I just realized this is 18 minutes long. I need to make some popcorn, brb.
Gonna need more than just that my friend. We need a bigger audience 😏
Just be careful of certain bandits if you do!!!
yep what she said

Seeing Obi-Wan deflect the blaster shots with his eyes closed with such elegance was beautiful. Letting the years of experience and the force guide him in battle was wonderful.
I thought about how he said in a new hope "your eyes can deceive you don't trust them" loved this fan film!
The music, the softening of the sound.. all make it look like a dance then a battle
Damiano Pernigo and I love that detail.
@@raymond-reviews yes, it was amazingly beautiful
Once again, fans just know Star Wars better than the villains holding the franchise at blasterpoint. I consider this far more valuable than the 'official' Kenobi show.
And once again, the fans outclass the official company... Though the bar isn't set high considering the "crew" are more faux-activist/vandals than genuine creatives. Seriously, There is more actual true Obi-Wan Kenobi in this 15 minute fan film than a high budget movie turned TV series. Disney, Lucasfilm, get with the program!
Cant believe this is a fan film
Jaden LaFrance k
It’s Jamie Costa, so I believe it!
@Jaden LaFrance How long did it take you to figure that out?
I'd be nice if movie studios put as much dedication, effort, and consideration into their movies as fan made movies like this one.
@Vasian Vasianich Rogue One wasn't a masterpiece, however, I do consider it in a different league compared to new movies. As for Last Jedi....
I'll just say I respectfully disagree.
Thank you for giving my daughter Kassidy an opportunity to work on this film. We've been fans of yours for several years, and are certainly a Star Wars family. This was a really great experience for all of us. Keep up the excellent work!
The best fan film of them all
When a youtube fan film looks more credible than the actual obi wan series, it shows that the show makers have no clue what star wars is. While this short perfectly captures the magic and Ethos of star wars, they better should have hired him rather than someone who doesn't know how to make star wars.
It probably helps that the makers of this incredible film *watched* _Revenge of the Sith._
@@theopportuneson699 haha
i think the series is better
it isnt better then the kenobi series, hes meant to be disconnected from the force not using it like rots was yesterday
@@camerongamingofficial I totally get that but at the same time he has to have some connection to it still if he is going to protect Luke
IS that JAMES ARNOLD TAYLOR as the IMPERIAL offcier?!??!
Two Obi-Wans!
I knew he looked familiar
A surprise to be sure but a welcome one!
This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them!
Kenobi: "Don't I know you from somewhere?"
Also Kenobi: "of course you do..You're me"
I enjoyed this way more than the *official* Kenobi series. Well done!
This is absolutely amazing! The scene where Kenobi is deflecting the blaster shots and the music had a quit tone is fanatic and personally my favorite part. This is a fantastic work of art and I really enjoyed it.
I hope Ewan McGregor sees this. This was brilliant.
