I remember the first time I played this game and I faced Vader and realized he doesn't even have a healthbar. He's not a boss that you have to fight, he's an *event* that you have to escape from
Some natural force.

Second most powerful, only to Sidious. Unless this game has written new cannon and said he’s more powerful.
@@wheatleyobix8349 Well Sidious is strong in Sith Magic and Force abilities. Darth Vader is raw power.
Even Sidious said that Vader was stronger than him and Yoda but that was before he got his injuries in Mustafar and before he got his replacement limbs. If his suit and limbs were replaced so that it could withstand sidious's force lightning, lighter and made from a more durable material he would have been far stronger
For those who don't know, Sidious purposely made Vader's suit with obsolete tech and weaknesses so Vader couldn't overpower him. The material his suit is made from is also a very good conductor of electricity, which made Sidious' lightning even more deadly to him. Sidious didn't want to abide by the rule of two, he wanted the galaxy for himself forever.

This is honestly one of the best depictions of Vader. He's huge, overwhelmingly powerful, completely intimidating
I think so too. An unbeatable force.
In the movies he's constantly going up against other S-tier Jedi and Sith, so it looks a little more evenly matched. Anyone below that he just completely dominates.
@@stevengardner9564 True. The game never goes out of its way to suggest Cal is anything other than a pretty normal Jedi. He struggles in just about every boss fight against more experienced and better trained opponents. Makes perfect sense he just can't handle Vader.
@@nobodyhere4675 I honestly think that’s the best thing about the game. Playing as a total badass like Starkiller is great and all but there’s just a special charm to being a Jedi of average skill.
It almost cements the otherworldly nature of these beloved characters. The understanding that you are nothing compared to experienced Force Users like Vader, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Maul or even less experienced warriors like Kanan serves to sort of humble you in realizing that out of the mere dozens of Force users that survived Order 66 your just another Jedi trying to survive in a hostile Galaxy of Great Danger.
@@77Productions77 I use to do deep dives into star wars stuff back in the day. But the jedi in the battle of Geonosis is a great example of what you're talking about. The jedi strike team believed that any resistance on the planet would scatter or surrender when more than 200 jedi activated their lightsabers.
But of course we know what happened once things started to pop off. The geonoshins began using their sonic weapons and they had the advantage of flight. And the newly assembled and massive Droid army was unleashed on the jedi. Which is why right before yoda and the clones arrive only a handful of the best of the best survived.
I wonder if in the aftermath the jedi realized they grossly overestimated their abilities to handle actual combat.
The fact that “Anakin’s Dark Deeds” plays during this encounter is just so awesome.
Cements the EPICNESS
I loved the usage of prequel music the entire game... makes me wish they used more of it in "Obi-wan". The rescores of scenes like in the Patterson cut are so much better with that boss JW soundtrack.
Natalie Holt just didn't cut it.

Vader maybe the MOST successful character design in fiction. People can recognize him with him just BREATHING. Dude doesn't even need to show up to know who we are dealing with.
Yep, as soon as I heard his breathing after I finished the previous fight I knew I was screwed lmao
Have you also noticed that no one even mentioned his name as well?
CptFTW that’s a good point. His reputation proceeds him so well that you don’t even need to utter his name to be terrified of him. I wish they did that with darth sidious. We needed more scenes of him being horrifying and powerful. We got one in TCW and he did beat 4 Jedi in ROTS but the way he killed them didn’t look very impressive. Would’ve been awesome to see more of what makes sidious so terrifying.
Sad Child I’d say Sidious’ laugh is his signature identifier. It’s pretty recognizable for most people.
James Wang that’s very true.

Understandable. If you hear Vader’s breathing but don’t see him, be afraid. Hell, if you hear his breathing and see him, still be afraid.
The voice actor for Cal is incredible, the way he says "Yeah, probably" with that little wobble in his voice? You can tell Cal is terrified and knows he's probably going to die, but he'll never give up or give in to the dark side
After Jedi survivor that last thing didn't age well
@@Undiscovered667 can I blame him ... no ? But I can say that killing all those fallen jedi because they fall to the dark side in the meantime, giving in to the power of the dark side himself becomes a bit hypocritical. For example, killing the 9th sister with the text "it's time to set you free" .
You've built up your character throughout the game, becoming stronger, faster, a jedi knight. But when Darth Vader appears, you realize just how insignificant you are to him.
That entire wave fight against all the storm troopers and purge troopers and security droids? That may be a tough fight for cal here, but vader would have done that within a minute.

We can argue about Disney Star Wars but they did something the old expended universe was unable to do : make Vader even more badass. The new canon (the Vader comics) Rogue One and this game are a good proof. I did not like how Vader was easily beaten in The force unleashed and in the comics
I really love how detailed Trilla’s mimic is: you can see and even sense how angry she is when she fights and how much she’s terrified when Darth Vader, literally her doom and her nightmare arrives. The way her eyes open wider when she says her last words as she understands that she will 100% die is just an amazing animation work

“Trilla’s Mimic”?
I just came to notice something, and I am not sure if I am correct. Notice just a second after Vader lands (Not on the platform trilla stands on, but at the beginning of his arrival), there's this "Thumm" noise, like the ones you hear when someone is being "Force choked"?. But, as soon as Trilla is cut you hear it go away into the music that appears.
If its true, the whole "Why didn't Cal just pull Trilla to him with the force" argument is now answered. She was literally held in place by Darth Vader. It gave me the whole Sleep paralysis feeling when I guess I "realised", because how do you walk away from a sense of doom and nightmare
@@uncomentarista3103 There was no CGI in 1972 xD
I want to point out two things.
1) This whole phase where Vader is one handing Cere is much in tuned with his current portrayal, and I love it. He could literally take a Jedi Knight or a hallway of gunmen with one hand behind his back.
2) that look of fear on everyone’s face is a lot with the sound of his walk and the look, but I think canonically Vader is so in deep with the Dark Side, he generates an aura of fear and dread that would make anyone untrained to panic, fight on instinct, or run for their lives.

You mean you’re a whiney Star Wars fan
What I like about this scene and something that goes unmentioned is that Vader gives Cal a choice: the Second Sister had failed him, he had no use for Cere, a zealot for an all-but-extinct religion. But in Cal, he saw potential, he saw a purpose. He senses his talent and respects that, therefore he presents Cal with his offer: surrender himself and find a new purpose, hunting down what you once were, or perish. There’s no doubt too that someone such as Cal, who had evaded Imperial law enforcement and the dedicated Jedi hunters of the Inquisition for this long, would prove to be invaluable for hunting down other survivors like him. This is what I love about Vader: everything has its own worth to him. He has a use for a dedicated soldier, but not for a hesitant coward. He has a use for a noble commander who leads from the front, but not for a pompous well-connected officer. He has a use for those who evaded him as he hunted them down, but not for those he was able to find.
Yeah but you forget something about Vader if Cal had surrendered Vader probably would have just given him a quick death like probably snapped his neck and took the holocron, Vader didn't exactly he wasn't known for letting people walk away. Especially not force users and he wasn't going to turn him into an inquisitor. I would argue Cal was probably too powerful. He honestly had no choice he was in a lose or lose situation me personally I would have just fought
@@BrianSmith-jx7td Cal was currently on par with an inquisitor and this was when he only used the light side of the force. If he did turn into an inquisitor and learned to use the dark side, he'd become one of their best
@@JoeFanik plus he was still young and learning too so could easily become much more stronger too
@@JoeFanik you're probably right, but unless palpatine himself told him to spare cal, vader's gonna kill him. A couple of vader's incarnations (comics) paint a clear picture that he has no patience for jedi; in one instance, he had an imperial officer report any and all potential jedi activity just so he could find them and kill them. Hell, he barely even tolerates the inquisitors; he ripped them all apart the first instance he could just to teach them pain and hatred. He once rushed blindly into a room full of jedi and tried to kill them all immediately, only offering them mercy at first if they told him where obi-wan was so Vader could kill him. Vader is far from a fool, but if it has a lightsaber and knows what the word "force" means, he's gonna try to kill it at least once until he's outmatched or told not to.
Didn’t Vader try to take a lot of apprentices for himself? Without Palpatine knowing? That’s 😊what I expected him to do with Cal.

Everyone tends to forget that Vader is quite literally one of the strongest offensive lightsaber duelists in history of Star Wars. This takes place only three years after Order 66, meaning he's still only 25 in this encounter which is to be believed the time where he was in his prime with the suit on. His lightsaber skills were only bested by the best of defense, which would've been Kenobi. Even then his midichlorian count was the highest in existence, his connection to the force was unparalleled, only second to Yoda. The way you see the fear in Cal's face when Vader begins to dismantle the room into individual pieces and starts hurling them truly goes to show how much of a force he is to be reckoned with. Kestis would not have stood even the smallest chance against him. Not even a little bit.
Actually, no. Vader wasn’t in his prime during this time. His prime was actually in ROTJ where George Lucas stated that point in time he was the strongest
@@lapplandkun9273isn't his prime when hes not in the suit? Since it actively limits him
@@KrakenManns I'm afraid that's not how it works, he may not be agile anymore, but that has little to do with his connection with the force, in this game, he is far stronger than he was during the clone wars, and you can quite literally see that his use of the saber is not flashy anymore, neither does he waste any moves or make unnecessary efforts, because he has no need to do so. The books explain more and give a deeper insight of the sithlord that is Darth Vader.

KANGA_ROO_JACK I don’t think so since she wasn’t choking at all. I think Vader was using the Force to simply hold her there so she couldn’t try to escape or even fight back.
For some reason since Rogue One, every Vader appearance in modern media turns into a Survival Horror lmao
Because an encounter with Vader is horrifying and you have a very low chance of survival
As it should be
We memed Vader into this
Gerry Buckets why you gotta be a dick about it? The other guy clearly said “for some reason” my man gave him the reason.
So true. Someone should make a horror game where you just try to survive Darth Vader
I love how he just casually tossed cere off the ledge 😂
Shows how he’s the strongest Jedi. One flick and you’re gone and I know damn well Vader isn’t using a quarter of his force when he did that
I love the music throughout this entire video. feels so original to Star Wars I just wanna cry
Cause it's music from the prequels

Scary enough to make the player go,"...........nope!!!"

This Vader would have fucked up Rey and Kylo
My heart was beating out of my chest when Vader showed up, the fact that I couldn’t do anything to him reaffirmed my fear.

Vader: I hate sand
Cal: Do you like water?
I loved the fact they played “Anakin’s Dark Deeds” instead of the Imperial March
SAVAGELORD should have done both
they did at 7:13
SAVAGELORD they’d haft to be absolute idiots to put that in instead of anakins.
agreed, one of the most underrated songs from episode 3!!!!
Imperial march us for the Empire over all, it just so happens it was used with Vader and now everyone calls it vaders theme. This felt much more personal to anakin/Vader and I loved it.
I love that you're this badass unstoppable jedi throughout the game and vader is just like "Ha bitch you thought"
🤣
"There's always a bigger fish"
Qui gon jinn, phantom menace
@Tanner Goodman There would be no Vader if Qui Gon survived. Qui Gon would be a better master than Obi Wan, listening to Anakin and helping him save his mother, inturn gaining his trust in him and the jedi order. Qui Gon would’ve been the father Anakin never had.
@@abraarh No that theory is just bs. Why didn't qui gon free anakins mother as well. Or found a way to break her out of slavery. Also obi wan knew exactly how anakin felt because he had the same feeling for satine. And I'm pretty sure that obi wan knew about padme. Literally anakins downfall is his own fault.
@@afrohighborn262 that is a very valid point....but I think the fault is in the council itself. Anakins "turning point" was losing the one person he trusted and believe in the most. He lost what, was like his daughter to him, left because of the council. That pain he felt from her leaving...he didn't want to feel that with padme. The jedi council is responsible for anakins turn
Vader is still the chosen one for a reason, crazy how absolutely powerful he would be if he didn’t have that suit on restricting him.
Or even a better suit
Idk about you guys but when Vader says “ It would be wise to surrender” and Cal just says “yeah probably” and then (of course depending on your actions) fights still, is awesome. Like it’s not the cliché “oh I can take you” kinda hero trope, you can tell Cal is scared and knows he can’t win, but he fights either way. I don’t hate when hero’s succeed, I hate when they KNOW they can succeed against the main villain
Vader: “Where did you get that purple lightsaber?”...
Cal: “oh I found it on the street... seemed like someone just tossed it out the Windu...”

Yissnakk Jr then again vader is really powerful and that is shown here and i like that
if only Batman got the same treatment in Suicide Squad
Bro I was thinking the same thing. THIS is how they should have treated Batman or even Superman. Probably even Flash too
crazy cause i came from a comment mentioning how the batman boss fight should've been handled like vader did in this game 😂
Exactly. Batman should be the only one you dont kill he would never allow it. He. Has contingencies for when he turn evil but whem he tirms evil e will definitely have a contingency for the contingency. It was so. Stupid how they ruined him.
As badass as that entrance is at 4:10 may be, the music captures the tragedy of Vader perfectly still
Me: "Oh, I've fought Darth Vader as a boss before. How bad can this be"
Me 5 seconds later after noticing there's no lifebar for him: "Oh...oh shit"
Patrick's Crazy Place lol
If Vader doesn't have a life bar... *run.*
Geek freak114 you want know situation that even more worse if Vader and palatine showed up with no life bar.
@@titekubo1997 The second worst case: they show up and Palpatine is mad enough to bring his lightsaber out(for reference in the book for Revenge of the Sith the fight between Wndu and Palps was from Anakins perspective: lights flashing through the room, so fast they were(with Windu only keeping up because his style is reliant upon the usage of dark side energy and then only because Palps wanted Anakin to have to choose him or the Jedi, it was, quite shallowly implied that Palps only played with Windu)
The absolute truly worst(Going from that the Father, Son and Daugther exist, and died, I presume Abeloth exist in Canon too.): Abeloth shows up.
Takaya Muramoto how the absolute worse situation if palptine shows up with light saber and Vader also abeloth shows up together then yeah your screwed in that situation I wouldn’t even try to run.
This is exactly how Darth Vader should be handled an unstoppable force of nature you have to run from.
Ten seconds in the fight and vader already brought u to your knees Lmao
This was about the least interesting way to do it. Darth Vader didn't kill me, the game did. Why not actually make him fast and strong enough to overwhelm me? What if he could counterattack against a perfect dodge, or drain my block stamina with way too many attacks?
@@classarank7youtubeherokeyb63 Nope!!! Vader as an unstoppable force is so much more satisfying. Respect and Salute!!!!
@@classarank7youtubeherokeyb63 Not Vader.
@@damonrichardson3607 He can be an unstoppable force. Just show me. Fade to black is not death by vader, it's death by contrived game script.
Also, Obi Wan had the weakest connection to the force in the Jedi Order and could still hold his own against the Chosen One. So the whole idea that Cal can never fight Vader is not supported by lore.
04:35 This is what happens when you fail Darth Vader and not what we have seen in Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 4.
lol
Or episode 5
What if that character is essential to the show
Perfect example of show, don’t tell. Look at her expression when she hears his breathing. She’s already dead, and she knows it. There’s nothing she can do. She finally let go of some of that hatred and death is right behind her. Beautiful moment
Cere: I won't let you take those children
Vader: *CHILDREN, YOU SAY?*
I wont let you take the men or the women and the children too
“Take? Who said anything about ‘take’?”
Vader had happy flash back of a certain blonde boi saying that there were « too many of them, what are we going to do? »
Vader: I am an excellent babysitter! Just look at my track recor- actually, on second thought, don't look at that.
- flashback to ROTS -
“Master Skywalker, there are too many of them! What are we going to do?”
“I’m not a master! That’s insulting!”
This is how Vader should be portrayed...as a straight up badass. This and the final scene in Rogue One made him look legit terrifying.
Blacktop_Shady OK in fairness when is he not portrayed like a bad ass. The only times I can think is in the comics and that’s only because he hasn’t learned to deal with his limitations(his clunky armor. That constantly itches and snags onto his flesh Which made fighting so difficult that it forces him to change his style. just look at the difference between skywalkers and dark Vader‘s fighting styles)
@@empireyouth5791 In Force Unleashed Galen Marek bitchslapped Vader several times and in Rebels he is about as much of a threat as the average stormtrooper
@@inspectorbutters166 ??? Darth Vader pretty much single-handedly crushed the rebels whenever he appeared in Star Wars: Rebels. To the point, that he took on an entire fleet on his own and forced them to retreat. And even when he was purposely trying to let them escape, he nearly killed one or two of them. And the only one that even slowed him down was Ahsoka.

Inquisitors aren’t that strong actually. Any jedi with a bit of experience can actually face one quite effectivelly and a master can probably bodie all of them at once. Keep in mind that the leader of the inquisiotrs got defeated by two padawan and Ashoka killed one without a light saber.
