"I won't leave you. Not this time."
Vader hesitates, remembering back to his past life as Anakin. His bond with Ahsoka, strained, but not yet broken. Perhaps her words move him, something deep inside and nearly forgotten... but it is not enough. Vader has sacrificed too much to the dark side. Vader has lost too much to go back. He hardens his resolve and calls upon the dark side. His hate, anger, and sadness. He has come too far to turn back, even for his former apprentice. If he is to die in battle, then better it be at the hands of someone he once loved.
"Then you will die."
So sad, but you are spot on. Awesome comment.
The same thing happened in one of the Vader comics when he took his first crystal from a jedi he killed. The crystal showed him a future that he could have had; he realizes the evil he has done, goes and destroys the Emperor, and tracks down Obi-wan to beg forgiveness and to die honorably.
Vader rejects that future under the premise that he has come too far to turn back then.

@@hiphopkillen14 Naturally. She may not be an official Jedi but she still knows some of their fighting tactics.
Looking back at the Clone Wars, makes this moment so much more emotional. Ahsoka Tano worshiped Anakin and he love that girl like she was his sister or daughter. He was never the most strict Jedi, but he was willing do anything and everything for her because she was more than just a padawan. Now here, he is set on killing her. Her leaving the order had nothing to do with him, but she left him all the same and it hurt him. I love Star Wars. People that have never watched it will never understand how much of a tragedy it is.
Her leaving the order broke him is what you wanted to say right?
Yes, and in the act, leaving him as well. Wasn't broken completely, obviously. He still had Padme, but that doesn't mean Ahsoka leaving hurt him any less. He lost his mother, lost Ahsoka, and there was no way in hell he was going to lose Padme. Though, he did end up losing her as well. He lost his limbs, the Jedi, his freedom, his entire life, and condemned to a life of pain and suffering in a prison like suit. When Ahsoka says, "I won't leave you. Not this time." gets me thinking back to that moment, the adventures, and they bond they shared.
Well maybe I am way too
soft to be a villain but if she said that to me after all my years of being a Sith Lord I'd just go back home to sleep and let her do what ever she wants, except kill me that is.
Erick Santos I know what you mean it even hurts me to see them in that way, all the experiences they shared through the clone wars. just seeing how she walked away after the jedi wanted her back and saying no to anakin is really hard to acknowledge, heck that scene even hurt me, and then even seeing them in this scene later... she completely blames herself for leaving him and thus turning to the dark side.
Erick Santos I hope she would turn into the forcr ghost, just like obi wan after being killed by vader... too bad that won't happen, since yoda didn't teach her to do so...
Vader didn’t call out to Asohka, Anakin did. He cared about her so much that their bond had literally become a part of who he was. You can see Anakin start to come back the second vader sees her. And when Ezra said “lets go!” that was the straw that broke the dark side camel’s back. All of Anakins (for lack of a better word) love for Asohka resurfaced. He calls her name because he misses her, and he doesn’t want her to go. The second time he says her name, he is using the same tone of voice he used with her whenever they were having a tender moment. Its like he’s trying to get all of his feelings across in one word because he knows he doesn’t have much time before vader takes over again. And when Asohka says “I wont leave you” it reminds him of all of his suffering, and vader does just that.
This is just my interpretation, but it’s an educated one.
I agree
Vader and Anakin aren’t different people, though. There is a lot of evidence, especially in the comics, that Vader’s more of a... mentality, what you get when Anakin is twisted by the Dark Side and becomes just a creature of anger and hatred. It’s almost a coping mechanism, because every time Anakin’s not dissociating himself from his past, he practically has a mental breakdown and can’t function (think Vader when he’s newly in the suit and Palpatine tells him he killed Padmé, or if you read the comics the last arc of the Aphra comics basically forces him to relive all of his regrets-Anakin’s regrets-and the first arc of the 2020 Vader comics basically has him practically bluescreen-of-deathing directly after Bespin before the Emperor punishes him for basically moping for a whole arc). As Vader, Anakin can function, even if, very loosely, his idea of functioning is self-inflicted punishment and taking it out on the whole Galaxy. When he’s forced to actually confront himself, he just can’t. It’s almost as if the Dark Side makes it easier for him to escape Anakin, so the way I personally interpret that scene is that Anakin’s real self comes out briefly, has a brief mental battle with himself about joining Ahsoka or not, and ultimately decides it’s pointless and he’s too far gone, shoves the humanity in him back down, and dives back into the Dark Side.
@@theeviloverlord7168 You nailed it. Too many people act like Anakin and Vader are two entirely separate individuals. Obviously that's not the case.
You made it seem like anakin is stuck in the sunken place as vader is in control
Interesting
@@biologydoesntlie4093 Exactly. Otherwise why would Vader care that Luke is Anakin's son? Also, Vader hates himself. He wouldn't have any reason to if he wasn't Anakin. It's really odd, but it's also like being Vader is not only a coping mechanism of sorts, as I described, but also an endless self-imposed punishment. Anakin views himself as a monster for what he has done, and his punishment for being one is acting the part, *being* the monster, and forcing himself to keep existing with what he has become. Which ironically only spirals him more and more into the Dark Side. In a way, you can then view his redemption by saving Luke as him loving Luke--who believes that there is still good in Vader despite having no tangible reason to--more than he hates himself.

I love how the gap in skill is shown. Vader almost insulted by Ezra trying to fight him. Vader keeping Ahsoka so far on the defensive she can't even use her two sabers to get a leg up. Normally she would have had the initiative and her opponent would be trying to defend from agressive strikes from two weapons while only having one. But no, Vader straight up overpowers her advantage with sheer skill and experience
If anything I think Ahsoka only stood a chance because Vader isn't exactly at his peak physically-speaking. Iirc Palpatine implanted him with more mediocre-than-average cybernetics that are quite literally limited in movement and cause him pain on purpose to keep him under his control. It's a pretty clever way of spinning the 1977 movie's cumbersome Vader costume in the lore's favor.
@@possibly8180 Also totally something as sadistic as Palps would do. Have you read what he did to the architect of the Death Star after the first blew up? (Ew)
It's also shown a couple of times that force users "powerlevel"/ability to use the force gets influenced by their emotional state.
So fighting someone he for once DIDN'T want to murder could have had an impact.
Ex. Kylo Ren and Darth Maul
They seem quite equal here. Sure there were moments where Vader caught Ashoka off guard, but she eventually counters and resumes fighting on even footing. Vader looks like he is unable to keep up with Ashoka’s speed and has to make more movements to match hers, whereas he would normally wait for a nimble opponent to expose an opening then only then will he make a move.
Hell, at the end Vader was the one who got his mask torn partially and his breathing apparatus damaged, so saying he overpowered Ashoka is quite an exaggeration

And when she said she wouldnt leave him he was taken aback and then he got angry again at her not understanding the situation and darth vader forced himself to push anakin down and scoff down his feelings as he thought they would only make him weak. one of the best and worst things about Anakin was when he committed to something it would take a hell of a alot to being him back
And then Luke and Leia came:)
It was a mix of Luke, leia, and ashoka that i think slowly brought vader back to anakin and turned those eyes blue
+thehistoryfreak13 I hope we get to see some more Vader and anakin in later rebels episodes

Live Action Ahsoka Tano TV Show... Never thought I'd see this come to pass.
Ahsoka Tano - The Journey: czcams.com/video/OLzOr9fpt78/video.html Just wow.
I am slightly confliced on this because I also wanted to get an animated show with Ashley that is a Rebels sequel and I am guessing this is what we're getting instead. I am mainly interested in the story and with it being live action, it will probably have a higher budget so that is a good thing. Plus, Rosario did an amazing job as Ahsoka and I am sure she'll nail it again. Still, I really want more of Ashley's Ahsoka as well. Hopefully she'll appear in the Bad Batch though if she does, I am guessing she will have a rather small role in it.
Will the Ahsoka show begin after we last saw her in the Mandalorian? That seems most likely to me but I am guessing we might see some flashbacks and get more backstory on what happened to Ahsoka in-between Rebels and The Mandalorian. The World between Worlds logo implies to me that we might learn more about her time on Malachor after Twilight of the Apprentice, which I think up to this day remains one of the greatest mysteries sourounding this character.
Clearly Thrawn will play an important role in that show given the exposition we were given in the Mandalorian and I am guessing so will Ezra. Given how they announced this one big story event that will resolve the storylines of all these shows, Thrawn might end up being the main antagonist, perhaps Moff Gideon is indeed working with him in some manner.
Can’t wait to see Live action Thrawn

Ezra: “I need a lot more training.”
Autocaps: “I need a llama tree.”
Same, Ezra. Same.
Honestly, the part that fucks me up the most is when he says, "Then you will die," because it's Anakin's voice. There's hardly any garble, no modification or breathing apparatus - it's ANAKIN (or his voice, at least). Anakin telling Ahsoka - his former padawan - that he's going to kill her.
Yep, that was a dark point. He is so far gone that even the person he saw as a little sister isn't enough to stop him.

everyone’s talking about vaders line and i get it but like ashoka immediately responding with “them i will avenge his death” was perfection
In a way, I feel like they're both begging each other not to fight. Vader especially. "We need not be adversaries." Vader has a deep seated HATRED of all Jedi. This is the most mercy that has ever come from his mouth. He's trying his hardest to stay the Dark Lord while simultaneously trying to save the woman that was like a daughter to him. This is before he knows of his Son's survival. This Vader doesn't want her to die, but he's so far gone that he's unable to find the compassion.
God, he even sees HER slipping into hatred and warns her as if he were still a Jedi.
Yea I agree. I think Vader genuinely wanted Ahsoka on his side just like he did Luke years later. I mean he just went down a dark path and it got way out of hand I feel like he's looking for somebody to drag him out of it all the time after his fall.
TimTheBretonFromCyrodiil Agree with the both of you
yea but at this point nothing can bring him back
Darth Vader is a lot like his grandson, Kylo Ren. The reason for this is because even now Darth Vader is still conflicted in some way between the light and the dark. Both Darth Vader and Kylo Ren may have turned to the dark side, but there is still a sliver of light in each of them that is defiantly clinging to them.

@@phelopatirabdel-malak554 the first two seasons are the most “kiddy” bits of the show. The biggest issue with the show is that while a lot of is like really good for adults, it’s an anthology so you can go from a very GOOD set of episodes to a bad unrelated set of episodes. you start with the Animated Clone Wars Movie, push through season 1 and 2, and eventually get to the good stuff. You could just see in his eyes, how he misses the old days, and the fact that he feels sad, because she was willing to stay, and not leave him, unlike Obi Wan Kenobi.
The look in his eyes after she told him she wouldn't leave him was perfect. A glimpse into the good that was still in him, even if it showed for mere seconds before the Hate took control again.
Yep, the good side was breaking through to the surface but because he couldn't bear the guilt of what he had done meant he had to suppress it and focus on fully becoming Vader. If only Ashoka had speech 100.
@@espi371 Ahoska failed the extremely difficult speech check.
