- The Walking Dead has returned to television for the sixth season and a spin-off, so it’s time for another deep dive into all the deviations between the comics and the show! Season 3 of the AMC TV show covered no fewer than 3 volumes of the comics series, but there were a lot of changes made when bringing the Image Comics stories to the screen. Fan favorites Michonne, The Governor, and the plot-crucial prison are in both stories, but minor tweaks and major plot overhauls abound. I noticed a huge difference. The comic is black and white and the show is in color.
Yeah, no duh. It's mainly a stylistic difference between Robert Kirkman and whoever's in charge of the show. I actually wouldn't mind it, except have you noticed that for almost the entire show its a green summer? In the comics, they go through autumn and winter! I mean, the Telltale video game did a much better job with the color department!

Thing is season 4 is almost entirely made up for the show. The differences are basically everything cause there's no second governor battle. Once Woodbury attacks that's it so you can imagine that everything is different.

Andrea is my favourite character in the comics, so when they made the major change in the show it annoyed me.

I didn't want her to die, but at the same time I was glad she was out of the way. TV Carol is 1000 times better! Some characters the show made better, so made them worse, others the same.

I agree, but it's makes sense why Carol and Andrea are different, Think about it. In the show, she doesn't get with Dale because she disliked him for saving her she she went off to some love somewhere else and they were terrible choices. Without Dale's wisdom and guidance and the love he offered her, she didn't the proper logic and focus she needed to be the bad ass that she was in the comic. With Carol, she was frail(as she was in the beginning of the show) and required a relationship and since she had choices to choose from in the comics and was ultimately betrayed she went into a downward spiral of depression and didn't get the support to become strong like she did from Daryll.
If anyone is curious for how long Andrea lives in the comics: She survives a really long time. Even until after the war with the Saviors.
She dies during the Whisperer War.

I know this is a older video, but it kind of bothers me that you failed to mention that Carol DID succeed in killing herslef, and Maggie adopted both Sophia and the twins, but when both the twins died Maggie attempted suicide. that was a huge turning point for Maggie and they took all of that away from her character, making just a capable woman.
Andrea and Dale actually adopted the twins. Maggie attempted suicide because Hershel and her brother, Billy died. She did adopt Sofia though because she was so traumatized by her mothers passing that she convinced herself that Maggie and Glenn were actually her real parents.
You also forgot to mention how Sophia started going crazy after her mom died and began referring to Maggie & Glenn as her parents

Fun fact: Woodbury was filmed in the real life town of Senoia GA, which is about 1/2 an hour from Fayetteville. And in between is another popular Walking Dead set: Peachtree City, golf cart capital of the world, and my home for 2 years.
On one visit to Senoia with my best friend, we saw them filming TWD in the town green, and I’m told the locals are visited by the stars regularly.

One thing missing and different from the comic and TB show. In the TV show, Lori dies from child birth and Judith lives throughout the series. In the comics, Lori survives, but later, she gets shot by the Governor, along with Judith.

13:30 they did the eye with the spoon on fear the walking dead. Madison puts a spoon through Troy’s eye, she does not remove his eyes though, but leaves him with an eye scar. Troy’s father told him that he was lucky it was a spoon and not a fork.
The biggest differences: Tone and pacing. The comic is realistic, funny, and the characters are capable human beings who simply get shit done when necessary. The show manages to draw everything out (including characters you don't like, while ruining ones you do), has a depressing and mostly redundant tone, and replaces all the well written dialogue with shitty monologues. There are only a handful of things done better in the show and it's really sad that it's the version everyone thinks of.
Lol the difference is the show is actually way more realistic to what a zombie apocalypse would look and feel like and what actual people would do other than the comic being edgy and filling tropes to make it fantastical and completely unrealistic.
Yeah endless ammo and having a baby that stays alive in the zombie apocalypse and people being super super dumb despite surviving for as long as they do. SUPER realistic.

Half of that is in the comics too and this is a different contunuity in the show, barely two years have passed, and TWD has proven that the zombies aren't the big threat it's the people who don't have the restricition of civilization anymore and with Judith having minimal interaction with anyone else except Rick's group it makes sense. Yes it seems pretty unrealistic if it were in real life but it is plausible unlike half of the shit in the comics, it's also more likely for people to be scared and make dumb decisions than fearless and calculated even by this point because that's how people are, fear keeps us alive.

This video made me realize I prefer a lot of the TV stuff compared to the early comic stuff
Both are good... I personally enjoy the First 3 seasons of the TV Show because it remind me of Old Zombie Movies that i love... (Night of the Living Dead 1990, Dawn of the Dead 1978 and Day of the Dead 1985)
And the TV Show had something that the Comic didn't have... Jon Bernthal performance as Shane Walsh... He was an Amazing Character. I personally think The Comics is Epic because it take a more Realistic approach just like the first Seasons of the Walking Dead TV Series.
But Since half of the Season 4 and the Rest of the Season 5... I cant take the TV Show Seriously now...It get to much predictable and the characters really act like if they were in Dynasty... But with Zombies...

I never meant to agree on anything... Only saying my point of view... :P
But there is alot of things that doesn't make sense in Season 4 and 5 in the Character Development...
Take Carl for example... In Season 4 and 5 he is still acting like a little kid just because in that time line in the comics he is a 7 or 8 years old when in the show he is 15...
Unless Carl didn't mentally mature yet... But thats bullshit because he Was More Mature in Season 3 than the other Seasons...
But anyways... i agree to Disagree... :P

Two years, almost two whole years! I know it's a tough video to make with all the research but it's worth it! They are put together so nicely with awesome facts and a good voice cracking funny jokes. The Walking Dead what's the difference is my absolute favorite and 32K people would agree! We all would really want a season 4, we NEED one, we would all love one!
And with one of the most hyped seasons coming up... I think it's time.

+Adam Franco Shane's speech scene before letting loose the walkers in the barn and finding out about Sophia is probly my favorite Shane scene. Has many other awesome scenes though, love the guy.
+Twiggy Voorhees Nope,you cant pick one and say its the better one because both the tv show and the comics are good by their own merits but never 100% better than its counterpart,for example: the governor on the comics sucks,hes just a crazy guy without any character dept,while in the tv show they fleshed him out a lot.
+Lola Winchester they turned Andrea into basically a wuss, I can understand why Rick has both hands, cgi a hand out is probably expensive but at the same time it'll be easy to bound his hand up and replace it with a false hand

I feel like I'm the only one who likes the show more than the comics. Michonne is WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY more likeable (she's my favorite character), Shane is more evil, I love Daryl, Beth, Sasha, and Enid, RICHOOOONNNNNE, Carol is a way better character...idk, man. I just really love the show.

Same here! I love the show so much. Looking at the differences now and never even have read the comics before,I think i like the show better. But that's just me. I do intend to still read the comics maybe.
For me, it is exactly the other way around. I so much more prefer the Comics, especially because of the Character.
Rick and Carl are so much more likeable in the Comics. No stupid "Coooarl". And let's not talk about what a awesome and great badass Andrea becomes in the Comics. She is literally the TV Carol of the Comics. Just, for me, even more likeable.
Also, I much prefer the Michonne of the Comics, especially after playing the Telltale Game about her. Her interaction with the Governor in the Comics is also much more memorable. In General I prefer the much darker tone of the Comics. I just hope that TV Negan will be as awesome as Comic Negan, even without all the swearing.
Also Abraham and especially Eugene I find much more likeable in the Comics.
I guess it much depends on with what you started the Series. I for one started with the Telltale games, which are set in the Comic Universe, and then the Comics, and only then the TV Show, so I guess it's only natural for me to prefer the Comic Characters.
