Logan vs Old Man Logan - What's the Difference?
Vložit

- One of the best movies of 2017 and an all time classic run from Mark Millar, Logan and Old Man Logan actually share very little. But of all the differences, which one actually matters most?

You show a guy get his arm cut off, but then censor the word shit???
Welcome to America.
There is a strange American sensibility where words are bad, but visual violence is fine.
Paul Kerton Sex is worse than both of those in America
there's a bigger chance kids will go around screaming shit rather than them cutting peoples arms off
If there's swearing in the video, they can't monetize it.
Who else thinks that hugh is the best jackman?
He is also the best man, because he's jacked.
Hugh's jacked, man
I think Huge is the best Ackman
He's the best Huge Ackman
Phil Collins
I cant imagine anybody else playing wolverine in a film. It's like Hugh Jackman was born as the wolverine, just like how Robert Downey Jr. is literally Tony Stark
hedidit55 ugh.... Not really. They don't look like them, neither they have same personality. However, I would see why people like these versions of characters.
cr87129 You knew what he meant kid. The thing is he is taller than the original character and the original is more brolic.
hedidit55 Feh. Nonsense. Too tall, too handsome...and totally could not pull the feral thing off. Angry, yes, but never animalistic enough.
I don't know.
Glen Danzig once punched his way out of his collapsed home after a mudslide.
I think Steven Ogg or Andy Serkis could pull it off, but yeah, Jackman set a very high bar for whomever dons the claws next.
I think its hilarious that cuss words are censored but the most violent parts of the movie are not.
Josh B Games Logic
American logic: nudity and cursing is a nono but extrem violence is a hell yeah
@@ZaminKay No, extreme violence is just as censored. This isn't a kid's show.
@@dislike_button33 If it was "just as censored" then it would be censored here as well though......
I think it's to evade CZcams's auto-detect demonitization. The software can detect profanity but not violent and gory images.
Who else thinks that Hugh Jackman will always be the best Logan?
Rachel Bologna seriously c'mon don't self advertise.
Spidermon05 Gaming Nah.... not my favorite version of Wolverine.
Felipe Salvatierra He is the only version of wolverine in live action
Real mexicano15 I'm talking about the cartoon/comic book versions. I prefer those over the movie version. I'm not saying he isn't a good Wolverine, but he's not my favorite.
We have nothing to compare to.
I just rewatched Logan last night and it’s honestly my perfect idea of an adaptation. It’s an own story with its own characters flaws but has a close theme to its source material. That’s all it needs to be comic book media shouldn’t go above and beyond to be the comic just a close reflection of the spirit of the source material
I really dislike comic book narratives: super convoluted, there are no consequences, storylines get rewritten, etc etc etc. I'm glad movies can't do all that so that we get a cohesive narrative (well, in this movie).
It was nothing like it though, I think we should just stop the comparisons
It is truly a great movie
Jaden Yuki it is the best movie ever
No it's a perfect movie
One of the best movies i have every seen, even made me cry like a little bitch.
It's so perfect on so many levels.
Inzaynmembrain97 ye
+Jaden Yuki And that's an understatement
😎
Logan is the perfect example of an ADAPTATION that doesnt have almost nothing to do with the original work, yet it manages to capture the feel and spirit PERFECTLY
7:05 Venom taking over a T-Rex?? That I wish I could've seen.
Yes. Or that final fight against a deranged Red Skull in his horrific trophy room.
Saw this as I was at 7:06, and I felt like a terrible mistake when I pressed on that
Hold up. Can we just talk about blind bad-ass Hawkeye for a minute?
Ok
Poor bastard still got executed by Red Skull's boys. Could have given him a better death at least or just kept him alive
Saw in Previews that there's gonna be a Old Man Hawkeye miniseries.
Yeh he survived the heroes getting killed by villains thing then he turned blind but then he turned into a badass then gets shot in the head by one of red skulls thugs
no ones gonna mention that Hawkeyes blind ass was the one driving the car in the comic? lmaoo
What's the difference IT
Gangbang scene?
^
Oh god, I read IT when I was 13, and I remember this scene to this day...
They might do that when the new film comes out, only with the 1990 miniseries being used against the book.
TheLaziestMark it hasn't come out yet
If yall didnt cry at the end of logan yall heartless.
must be heartless then, cause GOTG vol 2 made me cry but not this. i think it's cause i didn't care. if it's not Deadpool, i don't care about the X-Men movies. DOFP pissed me off the most with the poor treatment of the Sentinels, that was the last straw. i finally sat down and watched it and thought it was alright, it wasn't bad but it wasn't Winter Solider good.
This movie for me went down hill when professor x died. They should of kept some xmen alive by saying they retired or left. Then bring them in during that forest scene. Making the place the kids were at or going to where mutants were at.
When she called him "Daddy" for the first time in the film, that absolutely destroyed me. That was one of the most beautiful death scenes that I've seen in years.
- HADOUKEN- Making it sadder makes it better. Professor X's brain wasn't even in good condition either way. Downhill my ass kid. You just have bad taste
Chris_Is_Gaming_ triggered, so I have bad taste for liking Logan. Ok. I never said I didn't like the movie as whole, so you sound really stupid.
It bothers me how people compare it to old man Logan and have never heard of Death of Wolverine
Fanboys are like that. They trashed Apocalypse in the movie like they never actually read any of the comics. His character was dead accurate.
Luke M Eh, kind of. I didn't mind the portrayal but some things were off. Him being short and not morphing in size, other than in Charles' mind was one of them.
Eh. Your loss.
For not being able to appreciate great acting from a great actor in a comic book movie
There was time traveling in Death of wolverine so yeah
Super excited that you emphasized/selected the Easter egg clips of them using his "James Howlett" name on all of the paperwork in the movie. That is a cool nod to the comics that I completely missed in theatres.
really cool that you managed to draw parallels between the comic and the movie despite the fact that superficially they are very different
The Logan movie is more of the story of both Logan and Laura, and it has a much stronger message about what you can leave behind for future generations. Even though Logan's life is filled with disappointment, he can still create a better future for Laura. He can leave behind his hopes and dreams rather than his regrets. And that's ultimately true for the X-Men too. They may be gone, but their hopes will carry on with the young mutants.
And despite how Logan dismissed Laura's comics as being made up fantasy, the film says a lot about the importance of the comics. Laura lives in a terrible reality where she was created to be a weapon and treated like a thing. She needs the fantasy of the comics to give her hope. And in the end, Logan is a superhero one last time to save his daughter. Laura is literally saved by her faith in the comics.
Ultimately, I prefer the movie to the Old Man Logan comics. I think the comics are too overstuffed and unnecessarily gratuitous.
The comic was great, the f you talking about. Logan's arc felt more complete and fantasy superheroes are way better than that watered down fox X-Men crap. I'm glad Marvel's getting X-Men back . Mcu X-Men will be much better
I I think that while you’re right in that the MCU may not keep them entirely true to the original source material, they’ve proven with GOTG and Thor that they can change characters while also making good movies
I respectfully disagree. Old man logan is one of the greatest marvel comics and arcs. It's a good movie, but it's watered down to meet a certain movie time. It feels at time dull and straightforward.
@I xmen are back in the comics and the mcu is growing evermore comic like as time goes on. Guardians of the galaxy are the weirdos and the sequel is a great freakin film. Theres nothing fun about fox's xmen.
I agree there's nothing fun with Fox's X-Men live action films but now that Disney owns them Marvel and Disney might end up using the Jonathan Hickman rebooted X-Men version. House of X and Powers of X storys. Hickman has shown in at least one of his comic books all the established Marvel multiverse timelines.
No matter how much criticism the Xmen movies got, everyone agrees that hugh Jackman was the greatest as wolverine. He carried some of those movies tbh
The movie was nothing like the Old Man Logan Comic. And that's ok.
I wish more people would just accept that movies aren't meant to be identical to the comics that would be pointless and boring seeing someone else agree for once OS a breath of fresh air
@@gieckogecko5886 well maybe if they pay respect to the material more we might have had something better.
@@gieckogecko5886 yes, I am very agree

Really love your in depth analysis of the movie and philosophy of movie.... Taught me a lot and made me respect movies as a medium of entertainment... Thanx a lot
that was an awesome breakdown! I haven't read the comics yet and really wanted to know the difference. thanks!
Logan: The only movie that made me cry in a very long time.
Both the movie and the comic are masterpieces
I love both the movie and the comics... I think they adapted what they could well and told a wholly unique story in the movie.
I've read the book,Wolverine Old Man Logan and I've seen this movie. And both of them are beyond great and are full of emotional moments. So,I suggest you to both read the book and see the movie because both if them are great, even if the comic and the movie aren't 100 percent the same.
I loved this so Damn much and cried when SPOLIER!!!
.
WHEN PROFESSER X AND LOGAN DIED I CRIED
I did too! Me and my wife cried like babies..
Kenrick Eason midnight premire was full of crying babies but something a lot of people don't give it credit for is that's it's pretty Damn funny at some points
That One Violinist Gaming Fortunately most people don't know the meaning of the word "spolier'
Why do you need to mention it's a spoiler? Both their deaths are in the video.
At this point if someone has not seen this movie they deserve spoilers to ruin their day.
This flared up my alcoholism, and then stopped it.
This is the type of videos Cinefix should stick to! This was great!
awesome literally watched this last night.
well re-watched anyways.
Do oldboy what's the difference with the manga
Alex The Kaiser true I'm reading the manga im only chapter 52
SPOILERS:
Manga - Protagonist cried when the guy sang at school, that's why he wanted revenge.
Korean version is a good adaptation, while the only redeeming factor of the American remake is the reason for the revenge. (or if you want to see Thanos/Cable in love with Scarlet Witch)
It wasn't that he cried or spread rumors about the guy having sex with his sister, but that he saw the girl having sex with an older man (which he didn't know was her father) and told creating news tabloids that pushed the family into hiding. This leads the dad to murder the family and commit suicide, but the son survived. Still loving his father, whom he was also sexual abused by, he does the same thing as the Korean version, but in this case the reveal is a lot more relatable to what the revenge was based around. The protagonist has sexual love for this woman whom he finds out is his daughter, the same feelings the antagonist's father had for his own daughter.
Alex The Kaiser the movie is far better than the manga
I hear your opinion and raise you one continuously shot fight scene in a hallway.
Alex The Kaiser ive seen neither the movie or read the manga but from i hear what your saying sounds like the manga
Yes, this is the best comic book movie ever.
my fav x-men movie, thanks for doing this one!
Please do "What's the Difference" on IT. Since the new movie is coming out, I think it would be cool to do an episode about the difference between the book and the original film
You know this very video illustrates a point brought up by Logan in the movie. It went a little like this:
Xavier: Logan, language! The girl...
Logan: Oh what, she can butcher a bunch of guys but can't hear a few naughty words?
*SPOILERS*
When Wolverine found out that Charles was stabbed in the chest, picked him up and noticed the cuts, when he looks at his clone. He says "it wasn't me." So I think him still killing the x men is still used here, but obviously a different villain is used.
In the movie its very obvious that charles killed the mutants, in the west chester incident.
Charles killed the xmen just like he almost kills caliban.
We also see that charles made logan's power to regenerate really weak and thats why he's gets killed, he aways had adamantium poisoning but now he's weak and old
Awesome video !
I thought you were gonna talk about the different between x23 (Laura) in the movie! (Trust me there are a lot) but I like this idea better! Great videos, keep it up!
What happened to the other narrator? (haven't watched the show in a while.)
I would really love to see Logan rip and get out of Hulk's stomach in the movie
Excellent analysis
"Old man logan"
He is literally older than an old man for living 200+ years
Then he is still an old man thats how words work
Quick answer
everything
I'm so glad I had a psp, it's comic app was how I was able to read Old Man Logan and X-23 way before this movie was even announced.
I've been waiting so long
There's actually a new run of old Man Logan where he's trasported to (I think) the main universe or something due to events of secret wars. It's pretty good so I heard.
I read up until that point, honestly I think its pretty shit at the moment and it's more or less a story written to make wolverine fight as many super heroes as possible.
hahaha no.

The answer is everything. Absolutely everything.
Some people were just born to play certain characters! Hugh Jackman is the definitive Wolverine! 👌
That's not Daredevil and The Punisher, they were killed a long time ago in the comic.
When they introduce the stadium, they introduce Daredevil and Punisher. I was reading the comic while typing this
@@raptortamerdx5900 those were new versions of them because the original died in Manhattan during the battle of the superheroes and villains punisher survived being stabbed by kraven tho 50 years later he teamed up with Logan to kill the punishers
@@raptortamerdx5900 Spider-Man died in Manhattan as well along with moon knight
@@Tyworld_2008 ooooh. That makes sense then
@@raptortamerdx5900 that’s what makes the plan of red skull work so well he had black panther killed he had sentry killed and more
Here's an idea for What's the Difference. Do Ghost in the Shell as a three way with the manga, anime and feature film. Oh, and as always great stuff on CineFix.
The story and thematics of Logan were excellently done, literally brought me to tears at the end, but i really felt like the cinematography itself was a little sub par (ex: SPOILERS - we definitely didn't need to see Laura loading the gun before shooting x24 at the end, it was foreshadowed heavily enough that the payoff would have been there regardless)
After Logan, I'm convinced that Hugh Jackman would be perfect to play Joel from The Last of Us
yes, and also no at the same time. He has that look to him, and some of the personality, but he doesn't have the voice or tone in MY opinion. also his face would take some getting used to, if you're so used to the videogame joel. While i'm not saying he COULDN'T be joel, i am saying that i can see him more as a brother of joel, or a family member. I have 5, i think now 6 brothers, and my parents remind me of how similar i look and even sometimes sound like some of them. So jackman could easily be a brother, but not as easily be joel himself. and by brother i don't mean joel's actual brother, like a new brother or something.
Apparently its PEDRO PASCAL

What's the Difference between the Les Miserables book and movie
Cameron Field I don't think Liam neeson is in any les mis adaptations
there has been MANY different Miserables movies. I bought a DVD where it had three movies of that story and three of them were different and good
Can we have What's the difference: Battle Royale?
Terence Viloria what a film
Oh! Good call, the book for that is great, used to have a copy but lost it somewhere along the line, lent it to people and at some point someone, I can't remember who, didn't get it back to me...really cool story though, I remember it being wider in scope, the movie focuses mainly on Nanahara where the book has whole chapters around all sorts of other characters.
ZarathustrasCrown Mitsuko and Kiriyama had the biggest changes from the book.
X-23 wasn't created for the movie, she first appeared in the animated series X-Men Evolution.
Also, the "cyborg dudes" are The Reavers, who are from the comics, and who had a robot clone of Wolverine which must have been the inspiration behind X-24. If not, then that's a wild coincidence.
They didn't say X23 was created for the movie, it's the organization in the movie responsible for making X23 that was created for the movie.
Vincent Xu Look, I get that their phrasing makes that technically true, but I'm pretty sure anyone watching this video who didn't already know X-23's origin would hear "a little girl who's been cloned from Logan's DNA by a company called Transigen that was specifically made up for the movie" and infer that she was an original character. At the very least it's awkward writing.
Fair point, it is pretty ambiguous. They must have assumed that everyone knows who X23 is already.
Vincent Xu I might give them that if not for the whole Reavers thing.
The dark marvel comics sound interesting, I'm gonna look for them
This was more like "what's the same".
Yeah, they should have an "In Name only" clause like the Dom.

Everybody is forgetting who saved Super Hero movies! Fucking Blade saved super hero movies from the shit pile we got in the 1990s.. People can brag about the 1990s all they want but that decade had some of the worst super hero movies ever! Batman & Robin and Steel.. Take your pick...
Steel was a good movie, it wasn't comic accurate in anyway, but if you discount that, it's about as good as the campy 90s stuff gets. 90s had some good movies in the entertaining fluff variety, stuff with "hip" aliens, buddy cops, and cartoonishly unrealistic technology.
Kenrick Eason I chose Batman Returns and Rocketeer.
FROOOOOST!
In 20 years time people will look back at superhero movies like avengers and nearly every marvel movie and laugh at how crappy CGI was in this time,

This movie better get nominated for best picture
Cameron Field didn't the dark knight win an oscar?
comic book movies usually just win technical awards for make up, costumes, editing, all the technical stuff. Heath Ledger (RIP) probably wouldn't have won had he not died. the nomination was like when Johnny Depp was up for Best Actor in the first (and best) Pirates of the Caribbean, throw a bone to the movies that made money but give the award to something no one saw. oh darn, maybe next time Johnny...and he's still waiting. LOTR Return of the King won Best Picture cause the Academy wanted to acknowledge Peter Jackson for his work but could only give it to one movie. if all three LOTR movies won Best Picture, it would have done the Oscars a disservice.

I appreciated what Logan did to mix up the super hero formula. But what made me upset was that all that Bryan Singer did to fix the X-Men Franchise with Days of Future Past is undone with this movie.
Unless, is this non-canon and Deadpool is Canon? I need someone to tell me please. Thanks.
I think it is canon, but in the future so it doesn't matter yet? i'm not sure but I think so
Thormier If so, that means it was pointless to create Days of Future Past and fix the abomination which was the Last Stand. No future where mutants and humans can get along, humanity is and always will be too evil to save then?
Same thing happened in the comics though. Days of future past still happened because despite Shadowcat going back in time to fix it it just split off into another universe DBZ future Trunks style.

what's the difference with sherlock holmes movies , or the serie
Rachel Bologna sorry miss i'm not even an english speaker , so not interested (and this is not a good method to have viewers)
Rachel Bologna piss off ye
They aren't really comparable...the movies have nothing, at all, to do with the books save that there are some people named the same and who act SOMEWHAT similarly (with a lot more focus on action and comedy in the movies), and same with the modern series which will sometimes use cases in the books as a jumping off point but purposefully changes them drastically to fit in the modern day and not be predictable to people who've read the books, they also tend to "meld" them together so there's little bits and pieces of three or four book mysteries in one episode along with totally original material.
One COULD do it however for the old BBC series, the one with the brilliant Jeremy Brett as Sherlock as that one literally takes direct cases from the books and adapts them to episodes, and is really extremely faithful for the most part (you can find most of them on youtube here czcams.com/video/ZaDfTP7zohQ/video.html ), but to try to do one for the movies would be redundant, you could just say "what are the similarities? It has characters names Sherlock Holmes and John Watson who are consulting detectives and close friends in 19th century Britain who use forensics and deductive reasoning to solve cases the police can't. What are the differences? Literally everything else." then the episode would be over :P
You could do a Batman: The Dark Knight Returns comparison between the comics and the movie, although that would be a short video, cus they are SUPER similar.
You are absolutely correct in your assessment that it is the best comic book movie in history
I really don't see the point of comparing 2 stories that basically only have the name in comon...
