-Admitting the prohibition of topics extend to all grades
-Refusal to protect LBGTQ students
-a general lack of knowledge of the issues the bill is prohibiting.
Point being, yes it does. Of course it doesn't say it directly, that's how they trick you, but that's what they will do with it.
This is why I have no trust in the media for how deceptively headlines and articles are written and framed. "Claims" no that's not a claim, it's a fact that anyone reading the bill and listening to the coverage can surmise.
Not "all media" is bad. If you get into that kind of distrust of everything, you can get rudderless.

I like how the title says "claims". I guess we (republicans) should just be thankful they didn't take the post down due to "mis-information" I actually think the bill falls short. Administers / Teachers really shouldn't be talking about the sexuality to a 5 to 8 year old ON ANY ACCOUNT. This law should apply to all grades, not just K thru 3rd Grade. If I had a 5 or 8 year old and found out that an adult wanted to have a discussion about sex with them, while all my kid wants to do is pretend to be a dinosaur, well, I think I'd have to put a healthy beat down on that individual. I find it absolutely appalling. I don't care if schools paint the walls with rainbows and write gay all over it - don't have a discussion with my child about sex, or the orientation thereof. Focus on math, coloring, and the fu$#ing sandbox.

People need to homeschool or look into other options. Sorry to say but this bill won't stop all the sickos out there. When I was in 2nd grade here in FL, my teacher secretly taught us CRT. I didn't even realize it until a year ago and I never told a single adult about it until recently. Same thing can happen with the whole lgbtq issue.

You just changed the narrative you dimwit. Nobody is teaching about SEX. You just can’t admit kids struggle with these realities at this young age and want to encourage bullying so the gay kids kill themselves. Just say that

He's not straightforward. The bill uses vague language. We already have rules protecting kids from age-inappropriate instruction, he made up a problem so he could add gay and trans people to the list. My kid has had two different classmates with two moms. This bill says that if a teacher were to say something as simple as "Some kids have a mom and a dad at home, and some kids have two moms." other parents could sue. It's messed up for the kid, and it's flat out bizarre that other parents would care, much less get upset about who's got two dads.

The Florida legislature has passed a parent’s right bill [House Bill 1557 [text pdf here] which says in part schools are prohibited from Pre-K to grade 3 classroom discussion involving gender identity: “prohibiting classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels or in a specified manner.”
So grateful that schools are prohibited from doing something at grade levels that they arent doing it anyway. Kind of like CRT which is a college graduate level course but the propagandists have parents demanding it be stopped 😅

I've attended a few of my districts school board meetings but think it too soon post-covid to ask a burning question I have, but will SOON.... WHEN will we parents be allowed back into our childrens schools? As of now any of the public schools in my area do not allow parents to even walk down the hall to class OR ANYTHING with or without our children. We are rushed away and out of the school. VERY CONCERNING! We once could sit in classes, volunteer, have lunch with our children! Keeping an eye is not allowed today? AN obvious atrocity which MUST be reversed!!

Kids k-3 grade is to young to be taught about sex, sexual identity and that sort of thing, at least in a class room setting. I think this is a fair bill.

Love Governor Desantis. Love living in Florida. I was in 9th grade when I was taught the reproductive system. It is not appropriate for small children to learn that. That is your job as a parent (when your ready of course). Pre K- 3rd grade needs to learn how the critically think, spelling (words that they'll use in sociality), math, American history. These political games needs to stop.

I started to learn about sexual education in fourth grade (age 9) and again in twelfth grade (age 17) and feel it's necessary. However, I'm sure most would agree it has to be age-appropriate.
